The man with the midas touch finally got an anime. Everyone go read all of his works right this second if you haven't already.
No.34334
Like all Mizukami's work, the first episode takes a cliched premise but provides hints of what's to come. Looking forward to seeing it develop.
No.34338
I'm hopping this is good.

It wasn't really my cup of tea, either. Too weird and the CG was really bad, and I have a high tolerance for CG in anime.

This is getting a lot of hype purely because Mizukami Satoshi is involved. I was thoroughly unimpressed by the first episode.
No.34377
<wasn't this the series with like 4 chapters scanlated? maybe the scans are way behind the nip releases.
>Status in Country of Origin: 0 Volumes (Ongoing)
Yeah, prepare for stretched out story with piss poor everything, and an anime original ending to boot.
I'd like to be wrong, but it seems like cycles-of-reincaration-man's foray into getting his shit animated will just be filling a timeslot tier adaptation.

The anime is original. There's a companion manga running alongside it, but like Darling in the Franxx or Kemono Friends, one isn't an adaptation of the other.

If you really want to go there, my first impression of this was that it was going to be one of those mediocre anime that pretentious /a/nons put on a pedestal.

Weird first ep. I've watched weirder and liked it. But for some reason this one doesn't interested me much? Gonna stick to it for a little longer.

It's weird enough to interest me.

I liked that we were actually told what is happening in the second episode instead of dragging it out. I actually liked this more than the first episode and will definitely be giving it at least one more episode to prove itself. My biggest concern is that none of the characters (except the meat-loving grandpa) are very distinct.

Can't have an episode without showing some figurine's panties. That's very important to the plot.

Can someone explain what is the appeal of this show? I have watched all 3 episodes but aside from the fact that aliens/spaceships are CGI teddy bears/babies it seems to have a very simple and boring premise and characters.
No.36280

I don't really get it myself. I'm sure there is some kind of payoff for sticking with this but I'm not willing to sit through it.

Mizukami Satoshi (the show creator) became famous through several manga that start off with extremely basic story premises- "MC in modern day discovers he is one of several knights that must save the world", or "MC in medieval Japan joins a wandering human/youkai pair on adventures"- then does pretty great stuff from there, dropping hints of what's to come the entire time. Planet With is following the exact same formula so far so people are naturally expectant. The big question is whether that style of storytelling can work animated or not.

For a moment, I was afraid there wouldn't be one.

I liked this episode. Felt like things were finally starting to go down.
>Shounen power up gives MC and his cat robot a hangover
No.37495
I can't say I follow what's happening but this felt like the best episode yet. I think my issue is that I don't care about any of the characters. The plot isn't actually very complicated, I just struggle to remember which person is on which side for what reason (most of the time we don't even know). It seems like a new arc is starting though so hopefully it'll slow down and give the characters a bit of character.
No.37514

Yeah, first episode was a bit weak for me, but It's slowly catching up. I'm at least a bit curious. But everybody seem to be pretty forgetable in this
No.38685
No pantsu figurine this time?
Instead they gave cp. And some true Japanese spirit.
No.40514
That was a good shounen fight.
No.40698
It's not that I dislike theh show. It's good enough to keep me watching it.
But damn did they overhyped it to me. This better have some amazing twist/payoff, if it keeps being just "standard" I'll have to say I'm disappointed

Because this anime started slow for me, and turned into a strong contender for AOTS
It actually managed to have an interesting plot. I thought it would stick to nonsensical shenanigans, considering the character design

this
ep1 was a huge clusterfuck but seeing all the themes (2a issues / better to "live" in a dream of endless orgasm or face reality) and having them explored from many different perspectives was quite refreshing

Shutting down because you literally can't even? As expected, my assessment was 100% on the money.

Haven't watched today's episode yet but it's definitely one of the top shows this year. Definitely deserves more love on this board tbh but I guess comedies are more accessible and bad episode 1s + bad CG is pretty off-putting.

You can lead the reddit to water but you can't make him drink. Planet With is not Mizukami's strongest work, but I blame that entirely on JC Staff than anything else. It's still quite good.

This.
I watched the first two episodes, was mildly interested, but left until now to come back to it. It's good overall. Antagonists are a bit lacking, maybe?
No.50246
Ginko is cute! I hope she gets a figure, though a mecha Sensei wouldn't be bad either.
