I'm looking at the earliest revisions of that page, from 2008, and that one has that event right there, as well as one that sounds a little like what you remember.

Lapsed into catatonia shortly after stating that “this is not life”. Subject passed into a coma and died shortly thereafter. C.O.D. was attributed to shock.

The E-127 event was edited in 2016 to say:

These changes were to flesh the article out with a crosslink to another SCP. Another change was to remove a reference to a now-decomissioned SCP. I don't think that every difference from how you remember old articles can be put down to SJWs meddling with it. In the late 2000s/early 2010s there was this whole 'mass edit' or mass deletion or something like that, that had something to do with migrating all the articles from one wiki to another, which they only wanted to bother doing with good articles. Another thing that affected a lot of articles was some guy Fishmonger, who had written much for the site, and asked for all of his work to be deleted when he left.
Apart from the obvious homosex virtue signalling, modern SJW influence on SCP writing is most visible in the newer articles (for example: http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-2721) and in the increased prominence of groups of interest such as Are We Cool Yet? and Gamers Against Weed. (But, just because early articles haven't yet been meddled with by SJWs doesn't mean that they're safe—pretty sure I've seen talk of them wanting to get rid of the muh toxicity of 2008-era /x/.)
