Because it turns out that humans actually like sameface to some degree. Attractive faces can be reliably generated by averaging together photographs of thousands of randomly chosen people within a particular population. Sameface is just the natural cartoon equivalent. Establish an attractive signature "average" face, and from there distinguish individual characters through slight deviations.
