You can see they tried. My guess is that it was due to budget. Most anime use a little more effort on the first episode to attract attention. Our magnificent CG bear was probably a sorry display of that effort, and considering bears are a recurring species in the manga, we can expect to see more of it in the future, gotta make the most of those 3D assets after all.
Anyways, looking at >>22937 and >>22986 I believe whoever made the storyboard wanted to include those scenes but had to take into account that the animators hired to do it had their limitations and/or because of time constraints.
While overall art is lacking compared to the manga, it's not bad, and the story is good. I say this still has a chance to win some people over.

I don't know how people gave this AotS. It's not the worst thing I've seen and there is clearly the gem of a good story underneath but it's buried underneath so many layers of production incompetence that it might as well be invisible. The only good part was the Sugimoto-Asirpa relationship which was pretty much carried by the VAs, and that wasn't strong enough to get it anywhere near AotS.

Tsurumi did and has done nothing wrong since he fully know that Japan's not ready for a full-blown Colonialism, exemplified by his disgust to the big-wigs for throwing away men at frontal charges during the Russo-Japanese war. He's an outlier in the top brass, and fortunately for him he's not the only one that has a bone to pick with the Meiji government.
However i felt Tsurumi (along with the rest of his mentally unstable men) is getting wackier every single day compared to the brain fluid-leaking freak that we met back in Hokkaido. Imo, they used to be creepy as fuck, but that sentiment slowly dries up as we know their motives as we go along.

it just bothered me how the guy impersonating the warden and the template for the fake money came out of nowhere because they skipped some (pretty good chapters) that not only introduced that new character in some detail, gave Ushiyama another chance to be awesome but also gave hilarious background info on how Shiraishi became the Escape King.
That's a big missed opportunity

I gave up the anime adaptation since the beginning of the 1st season. The shitty art and animation doesn't do the manga justice.
I also dropped the manga due to it being episodic as hell. It feels like the author is trying to drag this shit on forever. I'm not going to put up with that.

Well that sucks.
But Im enjoying the comedy in the anime.
From the few scattered pages I saw from the manga, it looks like they tried too recreate it as close to the source material as possible. Manga looks prettier though.

Good episode. Tanigaki's backstory is top tier tearjerk material.

This show has really found its niche, which is schlocky butt naked violence against blind ex-slaves who can see and destroy distant objects through echolocation. Thoroughly enjoying.

Moaning about how it deviated from the manga aside, this season was a massive jump in quality from last season. This was one of the better shows this year and I think it's found its comfortable place. I'm looking forward to the next season very much. They even brought back the bear for a final send-off

Too late, Christmas present time is already over here and I got a Monogatari manga box set and all of the current Houseki no Kuni volumes.
Obviously the bear is a bit of a joke but the show is fun and has a good sense of adventure. It stands out from all the moeshit/haremshit/isekaishit every season.
No.75745

Again, you can't give the show the credit. All it did was lift everything from the manga while cutting out as much as possible to fit the runtime/episode count. The good merits of the show, storywise, are all in the manga but done better.

stop saying this
I don't care if the manga is better, I didn't read the manga, the show is decent enough. muh source material morons can take their whining back to plebbit.
No.75848
Well, I'll just repeat myself then.
The show is unfortunately subpar in production quality, considering how well made the manga is. We see worst shows with better budget every season.
but
I'm still happy it was made. Hopefuly it attracts some attention to the manga.
Also, this scene was pretty heavy. Family stuff usually gets to me.
No.75853

No fuck you. Don't give a meh show/rushed adaptation credit for things it's not responsible for. Were it original material added to the story, then you could use those as positives for the show.
>>75848
The manga has already been pretty popular in america before the anime was made. The anime only serves to distract people from reading the much better source material that the average person won't even bother with because "fuck reading".

>I don't care if the manga is better
>I didn't read the manga
>muh source material morons
No matter how hard you try to meme it, only normalfags and secondaries actively avoid reading the source material and only watch the animay due to muh high pitched loli voices, muh catchy OP/ED song and muh audiovisual immersion since they only know a series exists when the anime adaptation is shat out. Much like how redditors only begin talking about Goblin Slayer in late 2018 after it got the shit adaptation and the manufactured controversies surrounding it while the scans have been around forever.
No.86176
>>83905
Unlike the berserk 2016 thing this adaptation is still a well made show it just isn't as good as the manga. However this show got me to read the manga which is what most anime adaptations are supposed to do. They are just commercials to convince people to read manga. Since most of them have no ending and are extremely unlikely to get a new season.
