>I can't understand whether GunxSword is underrated or not.
I've spoken with a Jap-anon on /v/ about the series before; he says that natively, pretty much no one he's spoken to directly that likes anime has even heard of it. I suppose it might be a bit more popular in the west, but even then reception seems somewhat divisive. Doesn't help that Newtype USA memed at westerners that it should be the "next stop" after Cowboy Bebop and Trigun (a statement which Funi regurgitated as well, acquiring the distribution rights here after Geneon fell), so of course it gets some people try it and hate it for failing to be more of either series. You'd think a work isn't allowed to stand on its own, under that sort of logic, and has to copy its predecessors.
>there's surprisingly enough porn with it.
Considering Takahiro also does (or at least, did) hentai game art (including working some with Viper), it wouldn't surprise me if it's had a trickle down effect to other series he's worked on, popular or not. Also worth noting that a series doesn't need to be actually watched/played much to still get lewds.

He still came back at the end, when she's a bit older, so there might have been a chance. That said, when you've been on a quest for vengeance and used the memory of your dead wife to carry on for three years, it's going to take some time to let go of it and move on in any direction. At least he didn't anhero afterward like he was debating earlier on.

It's a really enjoyable series if you ask me, with a great OST. And the beach pool episode that was from was pretty fun too.
