I just got done reading the manga and it was nice. It had a fair share of bullshit but told a story about a really fun and tragic character.
Was youko kinda the main enemy or was Joe just too in love with fighting to not focus on anything else in his life? Was she just into the world of boxing because thats kinda how youko expressed her love for Joe? I like the setups to each fight but most of them were just Joe getting the shit beat out of him until he realized their weakness. I would say the fights really dragged on but I'm not into boxing in general.
I think Joe's love boner for Riikishi goes on for too long but that is just me.
The end of the Carlos fight were bullshit as they were fouling each other back and forth. And the Harimau fight was absolute bullshit as he is able to fly over and bite him during the match(and was a literal gorilla man). Basically the manga shines with character building outside of the ring, there were less good parts in the ring.
