It doesn't make you incontinent, and it only lasts for 2 hours or so. It's lidocaine, the same thing they inject in your gums at the dentist.
You do lose all feelings though, had it for a cystoscopy once.
The actual pharmacist above suggesting benzos is onto something, but I'd highly recommend not doing that as it really whacks you out at the required dosages. There are other meds that will totally switch you off, but they are very unpleasant (quetiapine is one).
To the pharmacist, it does help in a way although the muscle relaxing is negligable. You sleep much "deeper" (not real deep sleep). I've never experienced a hangover. I actually get them for severe disturbances in sleep.
Short of doing a surgery or getting botox shots in the muscles, there is no way around mental training and lots of fluid before going to sleep. Diuretics may help but are not good for you.
Quetiapine (Seroquel) and some other weird drugs knock you out way worse than benzos, unless you go for a dose that will definitely give you the blackout of your life….
