I somehow doubt it. Moving to a new host isn't going to magically fix his tendoro. Lets not forget that his tendon and the bullshit 'change in laws' were the cited reasons for why he didn't want to bother migrating the thing. The only reason he's somewhat motivated now is that so many people threw money at him to try and bring the site back. He is not someone we can count on.

I liked that the sad panda had no connection to NSFW. If some normalfag happens to stumble upon smugpanda.net and sees a loli with panda panties, they will figure out that it's likely porn. In a sane system, each archive would have a single official torrent generated by the system, and that would be the only method for downloading it.

There was a script posted on /animu/'s thread about the shutdown might have been here too; in the urgency I set aside my normal concerns about crossboarding and I don't remember what was where that allowed you to scrape torrent files for your favourites. It's not the whole site but it's still useful.

Man, trust is hard to regain.

In over a decade of using sadpanda the only 2 major problems I remember were the loli purge caused by Fakku and now this, but regardless of that I'm really scared Tenboro will fuck something up and the site will go down again.

I've already started storing everything I might want to read locally. I may as well keep going. If the panda stays up, great, and I'll continue to use it for finding material and categorizing it, but even my backlog will have local copies.

Who knows, maybe having it take up HDD space will make me actually read some of it instead of just constantly adding ever more.

This is a good wake up call to not rely on centralized systems. Remember that if there is even the slimmest possibility of a catastrophic collapse happening, given enough time, it is guaranteed to eventually happen.

Besides, HDD prices are getting lower and lower. We're fastly approaching $0.01/GB. With sales, you could back up around 20% of sadpanda for about $150. Even a couple hundred anons doing that could make for good redundancy.
