One of the themes of the series has been that people's thoughts don't line up with what they say. At first Mana was a bitch inside despite being nice externally. Catboy's defining feature was that his thoughts were exactly what came out of his mouth, and it is only possible for that to be distinctive because it wasn't true of everyone else.
