This is the perfect point to reveal that Toda doesn't actually love (or even like like) Nakano but just enjoys fantasizing about her. Through the image enhancement quirk of her power Nakano has projected pure love onto Toda where very little exists.

I'm fairly certain there hasn't been positive confirmation, outside of Nakano's mind reading, that Toda loves her besides their handholding (which Nakano initiates).

The point is that Nakano could have invented Toda's love out of his real sexual infatuation. She likes to imagine that Toda loves her and that is messing with her mind reading capability. If Toda really did love Nakano wouldn't we have seen some REAL actions of his that indicate as much?

It's always the biggest idiots that think other people don't understand simple things. I understand how Nakano's powers work as currently presented: the words people think Nakano hears/sees and then she fills in the visuals with her own imagination. This is simple as fuck and Mana outright states it earlier.

My point is that maybe there's an additional layer of delusion that Nakano has picked up that's specific to Toda and his sexual infatuation with her.

If there's a panel where Toda intimates that he likes Nakano IRL (i.e. not in Nakano's head) then I'll admit my prophecy has no weight. I however can't remember any.

Yeah, other characters obviously think Toda likes Nakano but half the fucking manga is about how other people struggle to understand Toda's real feelings and are often wrong about him.

We've already gone over the nature of the telepathy. She hears the words. This was established from the very first moment she told someone about her telepathy, and it was reaffirmed when we had the arc directly delving into the workings of her power. She has directly heard him think he loves her.

To reverse that wouldn't be a twist, or even an asspull, it would be a flat-out retcon.

You still haven't shown a single panel where Toda expresses any affection outside of Nakano's mind-reading/delusion.

We already know that Nakano's imagination is blurred with her power so much so that she can get things wrong (e.g. the sandwich her mother wanted, and the appearance of Yacchan's girlfriend). And she didn't even know about this problem for the many years she had her mind-reading ability.

It's possible, not likely, but I say that within the story that's already been written it's *possible* that Nakano has deluded herself into imagining fake feelings of pure love coming from Toda when all he ever had was sexual fantasies about her because she has huge tits. She thinks she's "hearing" his thoughts of pure love but that's just an extension of her imagination. The manga has already demonstrated that Nakano was previously incapable of telling the difference between imagination (visuals) and mind-reading (verbal thoughts) so I don't see why she'd be any more capable at telling the difference between imagination (verbal thoughts) and mind-reading (verbal thoughts).

Now, because you still doesn't understand the concept of "a panel where Toda intimates that he likes Nakano IRL (i.e. not in Nakano's head)" I have gone and found evidence to support your side for you. Mana clearly says that Toda should be trying to hang out with Nakano, which suggests Toda has told Mana that he Likes Ayako, but I don't remember that happening and can't find a panel where he does so :/

I don't understand why you choose to be so hostile to me as I present my theory. I'm sure that if back in the day I posted my prediction here that Nakano's visuals were a product of her imagination and not mind-reading you would have greeted me with just as much scorn.

For one thing, we DID predict the visuals twist. As you point out, it was foreshadowed, and we noticed before the manga came out with it.

Now, since you bring up the foreshadowing of that twist, can you post any examples of things she heard being wrong? Given that the visuals twist was foreshadowed since the very first volume, surely an even more significant twist that undermines the entire manga would also be foreshadowed.

Besides, in page 223, what else would he be saying?

There is no misunderstanding. Those don't meet your criterion. But that is irrelevant because your criterion is unnecessary.

This isn't a great example, but I think it fits well. I remember this same thing happening elsewhere too: person thinks X buy actually says Y and Nakano is flustered. The typical interpretation would be that Yacchan just came up with his joke too quick for it to even register as a verbal thought and thus he tripped Nakano up. But this does demonstrate that Nakano's visuals can affect her verbal thoughts mind reading.

One of the themes of the series has been that people's thoughts don't line up with what they say. At first Mana was a bitch inside despite being nice externally. Catboy's defining feature was that his thoughts were exactly what came out of his mouth, and it is only possible for that to be distinctive because it wasn't true of everyone else.

In this case, he thought a serious response while speaking a joke, because he has a filter and probably didn't think it was reasonable to ask it in a serious way.

This is a case where what was said was not the same as what was thought. It is not a case of what was thought being wrong.

>But this does demonstrate that Nakano's visuals can affect her verbal thoughts mind reading.

It does not demonstrate that at all. Even if you claim it as an example of verbal mind reading being wrong, there's nothing to indicate the visuals were a cause rather than a result.

Depending on how they handle it, it doesn't have to be stressful. I don't think there's anything wrong about educating kids early, and disciplining kids to be able to focus on something serious for a bit is a lost art these days.

There's nothing abusive about education, unless the practices are cruel or overestimate the child's ability. People need to stop being so soft on kids because we already have not only parents but state education systems that spoil kids so badly that they're never going to grow up. They're little shits and they need to be taught that sometimes you need to shut the fuck up and do what needs to be done. Kids don't get to be kids forever, so they need to be treated like adults in the making.

Japan like most other "civilized" countries stopped letting teachers beat kids because it was "child abuse", now you have kids beating up the teachers who are legally incapable of defending themselves. Now one asshole kid can subvert the authority of the adults in front of the entire class.

I vividly remember seeing a mother screaming at her kid in public "I fucking hate you!" and the child sobbed back, without hesitation, "I know you do". This kid couldn't have been more than 5 or 6. I'd much rather have a society that over-expects from their kids than treats them as an annoying means of gaining government benefits.

Western schools are horseshit because we allow failures, AKA kids who don't give enough of a shit to listen and learn, to continue through and be in classes with the good kids. The result is that teachers have to teach to the lowest common denominator, and that kid still doesn't learn because the problem is just that those kids don't want to listen. So nobody learns because the smart kids are mixed with retards. They claim that research shows that making kids repeat a grade, or streaming to different ability levels, doesn't help. Well it doesn't help the kids who are held back or streamed to the dumb classes because the reason they're there is almost always just that they don't want to listen. It's not ability, it's willingness. The same research then ignores the negative effects on every other kid. Of course we also have research that behavior like this is relatively static and can be observed extremely early in life. The kids who throw more tantrums as a toddler are more likely to become violent criminals. But we'll just ignore that and let those idiots ruin it for everyone else.

Separating kids by ability at early ages is great for them. Not only for their academic success, but because they aren't forced to be in classes with the types of assholes who are so retarded (but not literally because that's not actually the case even though they're frequently overdiagnosed because that's a huge problem too) that they can't shut the fuck up for two seconds and listen to the teacher explain what an electron is. We sort them out the instant we find that they don't want to shut the fuck up for two seconds and listen to the teacher explain the alphabet is. Because statistically they are unlikely to change, and if they do eventually change, there are avenues available to them.

>Kids don't get to be kids forever

So they should never get to be kids at all? Exam-writing skills are not all that matters, and keeping them in school and cram school from sunrise to sunset every day from the time they're toddlers does not make for good development.

>it doesn't have to be stressful

How can it not be stressful for children to be told they're not allowed to have free time, that they need to view their all classmates as enemies instead of friends and can't talk openly with them, and that all their efforts and attention for years must be focused on passing a few hours of exams because if they fail now it will ruin their lives forever, when they're too young to know that that's a lie?

And don't kid yourself that it's for the kids. It's for the parents and their social prestige. They pick what job they want the kid to have so they can brag about it, years before the kid is even capable of figuring out what he wants to do with his life, and push him towards it whether he wants it or not. The stereotype that every Asian parent insists their kid should become a doctor and considers not becoming one a failure is based in reality.

There is no value to being a kid. "Being a kid" is a luxury and a privilege, not a right. Childhood is a very brief period anticipating the entire rest of your life, and it's the perfect time for kids to be tutorialized on how life actually works in a relatively consequence-free environment so they can hit adulthood and not be inept once they need to start being adults. If you make childhood the focus of your life you're neglecting 90% of your time in this world for the sake of the first 10%. If you deny children the harshness of reality and pamper them because "they're just kids", then they will never stop being kids.

And kids are not innocent and powerless. They can very well rebel and steal their childhood experiences wherever they can even if they're parents don't allow them to. And their instinct is also to want to be adults, since the grass is always greener. It's the parents' job to play both good cop and bad cop and teaching kids to have agency and that it's okay to break the rules sometimes is part of the education.

We're not talking about breaking kids' backs and denying them any sort of entertainment or relaxation and making state mandated education the center of their lives, because that's madness, but people need to learn to be responsible and how they can survive and thrive in the world as early as possible, since it is for their own benefit. You can argue that academia isn't the be all end all of the world and you don't need to do great in school to be a decent person and you can object to the specific methods and metrics used in formal education, but there's no getting around the fact that it is something that most people value and it is in a sense a microcosm of society, so how well you do there is going to reflect how well you do in life to some degree. Kids need to learn that the society they're going to have to live in values academic results even if it's all bullshit, and that it's important to get them at least in some capacity. Be smart and get good grades, be athletic and practice a sport, be charismatic and bullshit your way through all of it. You have to do work you'd rather not do to get any of that, but it's worth doing in the long run and that's the real lesson.

Of course there are parents who are sociopaths who only value their own status and disregard the happiness of their children and those who are idiots and either overestimate their children or overexert them without noticing, but those crop up everywhere and it's better for the majority of the population and society as a whole to encourage kids to be little adults instead of perpetual big kids like pretty much the whole of mainstream western education is doing.

Yeah, 14 years is very fucking short. Only 1/4 of life expectancy or 1/2 if they kill themselves. But I guess you are going to live over hundred years.

>We're not talking about breaking kids' backs and denying them any sort of entertainment or relaxation

This is fucking exactly what we are talking about.

>formal education

Yeah, except it was designed for borderline retards and anyone smarter than that would be extremely bored by it. Most of education based on wide range of subjects are completely fucking useless. And evaluations are based on preferences of minimal wage teachers.

With your logic, fathers would rape their daughters to "show what is awaiting them in future".

>public education is important but bad at the same time

You cant fucking have both unless you have bipolar disorder. You cant say something like "its important lesson and prepares them for the society!" with "also its utter rubbish" in the end. Unless you trying to appear reasonable with such phrases as "but do it in moderation!"

You forgetting the most important argument "parents were dicks to me, I would be a dick to my kids and everyone else should!" So with your math skills, how much fun should kids have in their life. if childhood is only 10% of their life, wasting half of it on fun and games is wasteful, right? How much time kids should spend on having fun/socializing with friends/playing around in your opinion? 1% of their life or 2%?

>There is no value to being a kid. "Being a kid" is a luxury and a privilege, not a right

Even if it is true that a necessary phase of life isn't a right, it's still desirable. It's commonly recognized as the best time of one's life. There's a reason every single one of us on this board is constantly watching idealizations of youth.

>in a relatively consequence-free environment

There's nothing consequence free about being told "if you fuck up now as a five year old your life is ruined!"

>They can very well rebel and steal their childhood experiences wherever they can even if they're parents don't allow them to

If "fun" is something they can only get by rule-breaking and disobedience, what does that teach them?

>We're not talking about breaking kids' backs and denying them any sort of entertainment or relaxation and making state mandated education the center of their lives

That IS the kind of thing we are talking about. Some of these cram schools let out as late as 11pm.

>it's better to encourage kids to be little adults instead of perpetual big kids like pretty much the whole of mainstream western education is doing.

Kids are not little adults. They will become adults. It is a gradual process as they are raised. They are growing, physically and mentally. It is absolutely ridiculous to put so much on them so early. It was never disputed that exams at high school and university age are reasonable, only that that particular type of exam was a source of stress that one would be glad on a personal level to avoid. But we're talking about very young children, and they simply aren't mature enough for that kind of stress yet.

You're turning it into some false dichotomy where the only alternative to the insane pressures of the Japanese system is to adopt the coddling and pampering of the worst elements of Western systems. It's not.

>>947310

Of course childhood is desirable an in a perfect world everyone would be a kid forever, but it's not a perfect world and the need to become self-reliant looms over everyone and there's no telling when you might find yourself in that situation, hence why it's for the best to start gaining maturity at a young age.

>There's nothing consequence free about being told "if you fuck up now as a five year old your life is ruined!"

That's what I'd consider that kind of sociopath parenting I mentioned. Not only is that not true but it's an inefficient motivator as well considering you're threatening a kid who isn't really going to understand what you mean but is going to get scared shitless.

>If "fun" is something they can only get by rule-breaking and disobedience, what does that teach them?

That was in the extreme case of very strict and controlling parenting. I was just trying to say kids aren't completely meek and obedient even with a strict upbringing.

Don't get the impression that I'm arguing for draconian parenting, because I'm not. I'm just saying people tend to meet any instance of children being made to do something they don't want to, even if it's for their own benefit, with criticism and insist on this idea that children should be pampered and sheltered from responsibility and having to suck it up once in a while just because they're kids. It's a problem because it justifies this instinct that any decent parent is going to have anyway to spoil their kids when all that does is turn them into failed adults down the line.

It's not that it's a black and white issue where you're either overbearing or coddling, but it's "safer" to err on the overbearing side since the coddling side tends to sneak up on you and snowball out of control. It's not that the pressure placed on kids in asian countries to succeed is great, but it's at least marginally easier for the individuals who came out of such a system to mend it and break out of a situation where it goes too far than one a coddling system goes too far. Ask a crowd of people if they object to being whipped constantly and you might get a few hands raised despite the threat of being whipped for doing so. Ask a crowd if they object to eating cookies constantly because they're getting too fat and nobody will raise a hand.

It all comes down to parenting: being able to recognize a child's innate tendencies, potential and personality and steering them so they get the most out of that. Pretty much all kids want to be spoiled and pampered by nature and parents naturally want to enable them and don't ever believe they're doing anything wrong, but the kids are dumb and short-sighted and it would be a mistake to sacrifice a better future for the sake of their immediate, fleeting happiness. It's difficult to find that goldilocks zone where a child is being stimulated mentally and being matured while not having his soul crushed, but it's probably easier to recognize when you're going too far with the stick than it is when you're going too far with the carrot.

Education is fucked because only the lowest, most unimportant people become school teachers or join the school bureaucracy. Private schools are the only way to give a kid a real school education in America, but even those are run by morons most of the time. The Japanese have it 100% straight. School is for learning, teachers should teach the material or teach to the top 20% of the class. Teaching to the lowest common denominator is just evil.

>>947296

This anon just doesn't understand the importance of discipline, work ethic, and individual pride in productivity. Yes kids should be allowed to have fun, play is an integral part of development. Nobody is arguing that kids should constantly be in school, constantly study material, but it's obvious that 90% or more of the world errs towards less education and too little direction.

I don't that's the reason. From what I can tell MouTele is published in ツイ4, some kind of sub-division of 最前線 which are themselves owned by Star Seas. ツイ4 posts daily 4koma manga to twitter. It's pretty obscure stuff and the general vibe I get from the other manga on ツイ4 is amateurish. I doubt MouTele or any the other manga published here are expected to be giant hits, and since the expense of just posting stuff to Twitter is nearly nothing I don't think it's a money think. NOBEL is probably the one putting it on hiatus.

That's the general argument. With Tomo-chan and MouTele both out of the picture, at almost the same time, they haven't got much left that's all that special.
