Did you know that this season we get not just one, but two westaboo cop shows? This one is a remake of an anime from 1968, although not the first one. It even had a live action adaptation. There isn't much more to say, because the first episode wasn't that impressive.

It reminded me a lot of the faulty presentation of W'z/ Handshakers. It really tried to showcase tech presentation instead of if it made the story or pace make sense when put together. Especially for the music choices they put in the first half of the show. I like jazz but they used it weirdly here. I think Cop Craft is the better show at this point. That one feels closer to the cop genre while Bem tried to do a Training Day but it didn't feel that convincing. Hopefully, it'll improve in the later episodes.

I liked the animation and the overall direction, especially in the action scenes. But man, was that water monster's design goofy, and his voice even moreso. Really clashed with the rest of the atmosphere the episode was going for. Also Bem's transformed form was not aesthetically pleasing, it really looked sort of goofy, too. In story terms it feels like they revealed too much up front, telling us a couple of times these guys want to become human. The overall structure of this first episode was fairly generic as well. Which doesn't give me much hope that it will improve storywise, but if they manage to keep the action on this level it might be worth a watch.

As far as character designs go, it's true that they gave a serious facelift to the main cast, but oh boy, they didn't extend that to the villains!

I was almost enjoying the liar episode since it had a different feel from the first up until that bowling elvis haired freak showed up. Completely killed the tone of that girls death. Also, I was excusing that first fading images transformation because I thought they didn't have a budget but they did give an actual transformation scene for the second transformation so I'm not sure why they didn't set aside money for that transformation since that'll be used more often.

This time we go to the 90s with Belo, video games, criminal politicians, and a sad ninja whose catchphrase is nin. In most other shows said ninja would be quite goofy, but after the previous two he is just retro. We also had a loli and some foreshadowing about the big bad organization.

Nu-Bela reminds me of Morgiana from Magi. I liked her original milf witch design more but I guess modern weebs are more into teenagers.
