After that he drives around, doing nothing except being edgy . Pretty good overall. Not being a dirty faggot is something unobtainable for most isekai protagonists.
In the end he goes into "helping you goes against my edgelord code, but I will do it anyway" territorry but hey, at least he pretends to be cool and he has a gun and a bike and a loli he fucks every day.

Surprised with how competently they handled the storyboarding for the first episode. Animation, fights and the voice acting is kind of sub-par, but so far as an adaptation of the original story it's pretty damn good; went straight for the interesting part and didn't fuck around needlessly.

The novel was one of my favorite dungeon crawler novels, along with Kumo (maybe wrong word, since dungeon crawlers are usually about the preparation too, whereas those two are more about trying to game the system as hard as possible while delving deeper and deeper into a dungeon). But both turned much worse the moment they left the initial dungeon.
How was the Kumo anime? I didn't even bother watching it.

I'm a bit disappointed they skipped the solo dungeoneering, since that was what I originally really liked about the novel.
But I get it, just watching a guy struggle solo isn't going to be very interesting, so they hurried ahead to the first companion. I do hope they slow down here on, though. I also like the stark contrast between above ground and below, how the really bright colors pop in contrast to Hajime's surroundings.

The struggle to survive is conveyed poorly, the action lacks any excitement as the MC fights CG that could very well be cardboard cutouts in terms of lacking any danger. Then the show switches to the overlord, breaking all the meager tension it could have built, and showing his classmates repeating the same things they said at the start (love interest misses him, bad guy tried to kill him, everybody else is indifferent).
But each time I boot up an episode, all the blood in my brain goes to my nether regions as I get to admire this (300 year old, legal) vampire flirting and seducing the MC.

I have been burning through the LNs over the past few days and that was supposed to be the peak of the action up to at least volume 6. Half of Hajime's face was supposed to get melted off with actual death on the line. This fight is the last time he is in any real danger since he gets so much stronger from winning it while the enemies become much weaker when he gets to the surface. Off the top of my head there has only been one enemy that was more powerful than the bear from episode one.
If this is the best they have then they might as well cut out all of the fighting and just have harem antics instead. I can only imagine we are going to get an overlord season 3 scenario since it looks like we are getting the dragon arc.
