「影に日に」 oddly enough has an entry on Jisho and Japanese-English dictionaries that claim it means "always, at all times" but the first results for it it in Japanese point to 「陰に陽に」, which means "in secret and upfront". They don't give 「影に日向に」 as a synonym explicitly in the Japanese dictionaries, but they seem to convey the same idea, just with different words.

So I think the idea is that futa counselors are the ones who support the futa population at large openly/in public and also individuals with more personal/private issues. I'm also pretty sure it says that you need to pass a national test to become an official futa counselor. You should also put the (Author's wish) thing in the first box.

Listen as much as possible. Don't know that there's really much else to do. I think if you're having a lot of trouble with comprehension that using JP subs until you can better handle not having them a good way to go, just so you're not wasting time re-listening to every other line 5 times. Either way having them as a fallback that you don't pull up until there's something you just can't seem to make out is convenient. Once you're moderately capable with easier listening don't limit yourself solely to anime because it tends to be well-enunciated and having experience with faster-paced and/or muddied speech that's more difficult will be of help to improving. If you want something of that nature to just throw on and listen to while you're at your PC you could try different live streams. Don't just stick to a single person, the more varied your experience the better. If those can't keep your interest another okay source is internet radio shows and such pertaining to your favorite anime.

Completed my first deck of Anki cards. Guess I'll continue on with the grammar guide and pick up some reading down the line. I'm somewhat lucky that my mother tongue is rather similar to Japanese and also has rather autistic grammar, so drawing parallels is a bit easier for me. I'm not sure if I can learn Japanese, but I can sure as shit try.

I'm actually gonna go back and finish RTK3 before reading. I tried reading novels but it is too fucking hard. I actually felt like I was making progress when I was doing RTK, now I just feel like shit. I want to relieve that feeling when I was blasting through RTK at 35 new kanji a day.

RTK is useless and you should never use it as a stand-alone learning material. It doesn't give you readings of kanji or meaning of words that consist from multiple kanji. Something as simple as 取 can be part of 取引, 取り消す,取り出す, 取り入れる,取っ手, 取り扱い, 取材 and kanji can only give you very general idea of the world's meaning. I want to learn reading, then start fucking reading. Start reading Clannad, which has more text then fucking Harry Potter, and by the end of it you will get enough vocabulary for reading simple children manga and light novels. Don't get caught up in an illusion of good progress. Trying to memorize more kanji, characters mostly far less common then the previous ones that you've went over, isn't going to do anything for you. Language learning requires some balance, and you're lacking. You can't just learn words and hope to magically understand grammar and that's the same vice-versa. Meanwhile the least (although still) important aspect of Japanese is kanji because you can mostly bypass it's necessity through aids like rikaisama and text-hookers or OCR programs and naturally it's not too useful in spoken language. You don't have to. ITH+TA+JParser give you furigana (you can disable it) and word by word literal translation of everything you see. Sometimes it mistranslates a bit, but it's a lot better than looking up every word in the dictionary and you can easily copy every word.

It's an unnecessary change to something that would have sounded fine more literally translated and there's numerous bubbles guilty of it on the page. I wouldn't go as far as calling it localization personally, more like either a lack of attention to detail and/or they're just trying to be a bit flowery with their writing and spice up the line or something and sacrificing accuracy in the process. The changes aren't for, or under the guise of being for, a locality, but are because they don't care enough. Regardless it's not a good practice as even such seemingly minor changes can significantly alter the impression given and fail to express what the author intended. Outright name-calling versus a rhetorical question. A perfect, natural-sounding translation that doesn't lose some nuance along the way is impossible, but when viable you should stick to the structure of the script as closely as possible while still sounding natural. The accent, however, is what I would call localization. Accents don't translate; different accents give different impressions. They've just chosen to simply slur his words, which is not at all the impression the Japanese leaves. Something like swapping medieval Japanese for medieval English can work alright, but you can't just throw in a random accent whenever someone talks different which is what some localizers seem to like to do.

There's no alphabetic ordering for kanji. The usual method is to assign each character to a radical and then sort the characters that use the same radical by stroke order. But, it's not always clear which radical a character should go under so a lot of it is by convention or just arbitrary. That's for character dictionaries. Word dictionaries always use kana ordering.

Anki is just getting me angry now. I have to review 180 cards + 25 new and I about 60 of them at all. If I did them honestly (I remember the meaning and how to pronounce them off the top of my head) I'd get 30% correct max. Can't I spread these reviews out across the next 2 weeks instead of having them all at once? Above 70 reviews is just painful for me.

25 new cards a day is a high number, particularly if you're just starting out with Anki and the language in general. You'll get frustrated and burn yourself out trying to keep that pace up as it's quite apparently too much to handle for you at this time. If you don't want or can't handle 180+ reviews a day keep it below that number indefinitely. The guide really should suggest starting with a lower new card count and slowly raising it as you adapt and can handle more. Anyway, even if you're only doing like 5-10 new cards a day you should be studying other more important things in addition to doing Anki so that's just fine.

Provided you're just starting out and didn't have to deal with all the reviews that were slowly building up then 25 is not that bad. It's only after the waves of reviews start to crash that 25 takes it's toll on you. Personally I never went above 20 between my kanji and vocabulary decks combined which were often related in content making memorization easier. Often 7-10 vocabulary and 3-5 kanji a day.

In the steady state you reach when you've been using Anki for a couple of months, the number of reviews per day is what, 20 times the number of new cards? They really pile up.

I can see that but I would consider using Anki in addition to reading to be the most beneficial. Divide time into reading for enjoyment and reading to study/more structured reading, during the structured reading, add new sentences to Anki.

That's just based on my experience, Anki helps with retention and understanding some things I would gloss over in normal reading

You're both right in some regard. Anki is best used as a supplement to proper structured study, to aid in remember what you've already learned. But you can't just up and start reading out of the gate and yet you still need to start familiarizing yourself with vocabulary. I think a good way to kind of handle it would be to create/use a deck which directly lifts vocabulary from the grammar texts or otherwise that you're learning from. It's wouldn't be miscellaneous common words which may or may not be immediately useful to the beginner but something that you'd either have used that day or would use within days. After getting through your texts and having developed enough of a foundational knowledge to able to read to some extent you could then get on with standard mining. I don't expect people to actually give that a go what with the core2/6k being readily available and convenient.

Just to tack on a couple addition opinions, a few thousand words before you even start reading is a bit excessive. You're going to be breaking out the dictionary pretty often, maybe up until you start hitting a 5 digit vocab count, and learning through reading not only makes words easier to remember but the varied contexts you encounter them in helps you to develop a better understanding of their nuance so there's no reason to hold off so long. Second, and I don't know if this was the intent, but sentence cards aren't especially good. Too much extraneous review when you could be learning new things. Flash cards should be over in a flash, just long enough to keep things a bit fresh in mind.

I started kanji 2 years ago and took N1 last month, there wasn't a single kanji I couldn't read so it's really not that hard. Most "learners" are barely trying and are just wasting their time.

Just look at the people wasting their time trying to salvage translated works on sadpanda when the raws are there, raw H-manga has to be the best reading practice you can get. No furigana and you can't check vocab or kanji readings until you finish, as time passes you can feel your progress with every fap. I went from only reading kana parts to reading and understanding %99.
