Kill la kill Anonymous 05/24/19 (sex) 21:30:35 No. 929159
Just finished the show last night to see why the show was praised and here my points.
>while the show did have a strong start it started to lose steam the moment nui was introduced and I thought that it will all be worth it after finishing the how but nope the last 2 episodes were a big disappointment
>it felt like the story was purposefully extended to 25 Eps when it could have easily been 15 or 17 that way there would be less down time and more action
>while most of the characters I either liked or felt neutral towards them I was really annoyed by mako and rolled my eyes everytime she talks on screen
>the final battle was absolutely atrocious as it was pretty much ragyo absolutely dominating ryuko only for ryuko doing an asspull and absorbing ragyo's kamui(note that ryuko NEVER absorbed a life fiber with out defeating them first so this IS an asspull) and then ragyo kills herself
>life fibers weren't really explained all that well
>the last episode felt totally pointless and could've easily been merged with the final battle
While other people consider the show a 9/10
I'll give the first half a 8/10 while the whole show post nui gets a 6.5/10
I'll post a list later on how they couldve made the anime much more enjoyable

You got it. First episode is 10/10 just because of aesthetics and animation and the rest is never as good. This show would have worked better as an OAV.

Honestly dont know why they decided to make it a full 25 episodes season rather than a handful of ova.
Pretty much most episodes are full of either filler or events that would take like 5-10 mins extended to a whole episode

Honestly it would've been much better if they had the backstory of life fibers be a science experiment gone wrong with parasites instead of what we got with"OooOOooO AliEns".
It would've gave more credibility when someone would explain something and it wouldn't ruin the theme of the show.

The alien parasite being used as a weapon gone wrong point was cooler in my opinion. No need for the mad scientist cliche.
The show was a solid 8/10. The first couple episodes were great. The show slowed down a bit but I personally thought things got more interesting with the introduction of Nui. The show is very stylish, especially for 2014 since we hadn't really had any stylish shows like this in a long while. The show is mostly popular for its aesthetic, not meticulous narrative which is always a secondary goal for trigger. I liked the clashing themes of fascism, liberalism and jews. I liked the themes of becoming comfortable in your own body and embracing pain and struggle. Fight me faggots
P.S. Satsuki did literally nothing wrong.
P.P.S The entire story was analogy of a high school girl growing up with a half sister and whore mother
P.P.P.S The entire story was a metaphor for Japanese Buddhism and Shintoism.

I genuinely dislike this stupid normalfaggot trend of bandwagoning every single Trigger show. Not because it is actually good or not but because it is a Trigger show. All in the hopes of perhaps getting some kind of faint nostalgic feeling that TTGL gave us with Gainax. It is a stupid tradition. Trigger is like Game of thrones, something that everyone watches just so they can bring it up with the rest when they got nothing else to talk about.

Some thoughts on that: I think it would've worked best without any explanation for the life fibers, honestly speaking. The life fibers never needed to be anything more than a plot device used to facilitate the conflict between the protagonists and their ideals, which is the real focus of the show. The fact that both Ryuko and Satsuki happened to be superior even to people wearing life fiber-enhanced outfits never needed to be explained, either; it could simply be said that they were just that badass.
Also the last-minute plot twist in DitF is almost identical to the one in KLK, and ruins the entire show just as badly.

You have to take into account that an indie studio is mostly one or two guys, so 8k a month is a lot of money. For a studio such as Trigger(don't know how many employees it has, but certainly a few dozens, including Pr, marketing, HR, and so on) 8k is almost nothing. On the other hand the indie dev, mostly earns his income through Patreon, as such he is dependent on it, whereas Trigger, gets money from all sorts of contracts, merchandize and so on, as such the Patreon thing, is mostly for some spare change.

For some reason i was always expecting Satsuki's entourage to be offed by a 3rd party/new enemy
When Nui entered the show, i thought that it would be the moment, and that Nui would replace Satsuki as villianous figure , maybe with her own troupe (of 2 or 3 more characters)
When rewatching the show i always felt they had something else planned and abandoned it halfway for Nui, Mom and the alien/world domination plot

Stopped watching after about 8 episodes because I couldn't take how the show seemed up it's own ass with how CUHRAYZEE and off the wall it tried to be. 7-7.5/10 was the general consensus when it came out. After being hyped as the savior of anime, it left everbody pretty disappointed in the second half.

Aesthetic means the style and feeling of art, not necessarily the quality. Its kind of like zeitgeist where its not easy to explain. Plot is important but not as important as the feeling and soul of the show. Take for example jojo's in which the plot is often retarded and abilities are forgotten on the spot for convenience for more drama. A good script isn't nearly as important as the style and artistic design of anime or movies. If you've seen enough plots play out they're all the same. The only real difference is the setting and style. Its like playing video games for the plot. Style is at least 2x as important as the plot.

Is Kill la Kill actually all that deep or are people just looking too much into a battle-tits show?

"Being deep" is the worst maymay. Judging it only by that is bullshit. It certainly has some messages and symbolism in it's story but it was mainly going for an entertaining story.

>caters to the west
If that's the case they're terrible at doing that, the "western" reaction to every trigger show is screeching about lewd outfits or whatever the outrage of the week is on twitter. Almost all of their originals are throwbacks to older anime the staff were involved with or enjoyed at one point.
The western fanbase for anime is mostly eternally outraged streamfags, ironic twitch weebs, and pirates. Maybe 5-10% of those fans are buyfags, and those guys usually buy merch instead of BDs. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt catering to the west is more profitable than catering to the domestic audience.

I only buy merch because 99% of the time the official subtitles are ass trash garbage. Even worse when they don't even sub the Japanese part at all, they just use the dub close captions instead.

Same for me, but I usually get merch because I'd rather use the shelf space for cool shit like figures when there are better ways for me to store the anime I watch. And as insane as figure prices are they're still cheaper than importing an entire show that likely won't have any subs at all.

Your reality isn't consistent with actual reality, and most of those people who screech about Trigger also watch every show Trigger puts out and buy merch.

Do you have spoilered pics of those specimens, no matter how horribly 3DPD, I am morbidly curious. Not talking about the merch, just to be clear here.
