Thanks, but I was talking about the seam between two pieces when snapped together. I've read you can add putty and scrape off the extra after it sets a day later, and then scrape off the extra with a knife and sand paper the same way you would mold lines, then repaint the whole thing. I was wondering if there was easier ways for smaller seams and about your personal process.

>seam between two pieces

Ah right. I've only experience with 40k, but either gluing together with plastic cement and then filing across the seam tends to make it less apparent - the paint will then hide the rest. For larger seems a small amount of green stuff, maybe even liquid green stuff, should do the trick.

A modelling file. There's probably one made for more specific gundam use but pic related is a common file for 28mm stuff. You can get them pretty cheap. Anons have been over this as early as the last thread, or the one prior.

It's not a good idea.

Anons have gotten away with a wristslap (one month account suspension for accidentally missing a payment), and another got off by stating the reason for cancellation was because the item's wait time was extended past the original release date, or something like that.

I'd suggest not trying to cancel both orders, at the very least only chose one.

A business does not give a shit about your personal problems and you should have thought about that before impulse ordering more than was reasonable.

I'm still pretty new to buying figures, but does this price make sense to anyone here? Is this the usual price for figurines of this size and detail? Is there something in particular to look out for when buying figures? I've seen other figures go into the 200s. Is that normal?

Unless you physically get the figure, that's a normal price. You generally have your "cheap" figures that are about $30-$60, then there's a price hike to about $107-$200 before you get into rare collectibles which can run for more. At least when I visited Mandarake and Yodobashi that was the case. I know I put down like $60 (between the cost and shipping) just for the Hatoba Tsugu nendo.

The resin itself isn't very vulnerable or dangerous unless you're filing it and the dust gets in your lungs. Resin figs are however usually painted and lacquered. I personally don't play too much with them because I'm not certain how much it would degrade the varnish.

Clothing them shouldn't be a problem, but if its a garage kit it could be hell to put back together if something falls off.

I preordered a figure that was set to release in mid-late April, but I didn't get a payment notification until today, over 2 weeks past the release date. Is this normal with AmiAmi? I'll be honest, I'm somewhat pissed off that AmiAmi has the nerve to demand that I keep a strict payment schedule when they can't be bothered to send me an email notifying me of delays.

This is especially a problem considering that I plan out my purchases to maximize shipping; I'd assumed there was a clerical error that had resulted in me losing my preorder for some reason, and had instead planned on waiting until June to order a scale fig to complete a set along with a prize figure I was hoping would be on sale by then, but now this plan is shot to shit. I'm tempted to send them a polite email explaining my concerns to get to the bottom of this issue; quite frankly, I don't even want this figure anymore (it was a prize figure that I was on the fence on anyway, but I don't want a strike on my account by canceling.)

Any advice? Am I a faggot?

Likely because it's the new big craze at the moment. Kancolle was likely the same in 2015 or whenever it was the most popular things at the moment. But now it's gone out of style for the most part and people have new cows to milk, and so that's what's going on. If you were to wait a year or two, the figures would likely go down in price and be more reasonable. But buying at the height of popularity is a bad idea, unless it's a rare figure that you want.

> It is also kadokawa.

Wrong. The main copyright owner is C2 Kikan. KanColle is a partnership between C2 Kikan, Kadokawa, DMM and later Sega. Tanaka (C2 Kikan) directs the game and makes all the important decisions. The game is developed by Kadokawa games, directed by Tanaka, and the development cost is paid for by DMM. Kadokawa has essentially nothing to do with the game besides providing the lower ranking staff. Profits from the game go to DMM and C2 Kikan.

Kadokawa + C2 Kikan are responsible for all the print materials, anime, and the Vita game. That's the sections where Kadokawa gets most of the profit from.

Sega is responsible for the arcade game.

The core issue is that KanColle was lighting in a bottle. It succeeded because of an idea and not because Tanaka is talented. The current situation is that Tanaka (who was a producer before creating KanColle) is the director for the games and script writer for the anime adaptations. I don't even think that he has any significant game design or writing experience prior to KanColle.

>>930652

Azur Lane isn't hot. Fanart, doujins and revenue dropped heavily in a short amount of time. Monthly revenue is in the 200-400 million Yen region, which isn't amazing for a mobage. For comparison:

Shadowverse around 900 million Yen.

SINoALICE 400-600 milllion Yen.

FGO 7500-11000 million Yen.

Pokemon Go 4000 milllion Yen.

It's likely that Azure Lane is going to make less than half the revenue it made last year. If the anime isn't a success then the game will die or become irrelevant.

The only place where Azure Lane is "hot" is the West. And maybe China.

Japan is the most important market for this type of gacha whale mobage. China is the biggest mobile gaming market by revenue, but most of the revenue is for these weird competitive e-sport mobile games that never make it out of China.

For gacha anime/manga style games Japan is king, when Azur Lane broke $170 million in revenue, $139 million came out of JP. (This number does exclude Chinese Android sales(no data), but even with that it's very unlikely that China comes close to the JP revenue).

You people just don’t seem to understand some fundamental issues with your arguments. Are the Japs bad at business? No. It’s the customer who is bad at trying to purchase/use their product. I don’t really see a problem with that because of it creating a natural barrier of entry, which in itself dramatically increases the average iq of a Kancolle player. Not to mention the demographic change which makes it an almost exclusively white and Jap player base. If you have ever encountered the other riff raff, you know how much of a difference that makes.

Moving on to the gameplay. Azur Lane is a mind-numbing side scroller yawn fest, with little to no strategy required. This is solely to appeal to children, non-whites, and idiots (see: the /vg/ clusterfuck thread). Kantai Collection’s gameplay is “centred upon building squadrons composed of individual characters represented as cards with different attributes, and then sending said squadrons out on missions”, as stated in the Wikipedia article. It is also resource management and a bit of RNG involved, which could be greatly reduced depending on your fleet. Air superiority is heavily considered (LIKE IN THE REAL WORLD) when sortieing. It can change the tide of the battle. There are more different types of ships than AL, Destroyers, Coastal defense ships, light cruisers, torpedo cruisers, battleships, etc..

There is also a sense of risk and heroism (Shigetaka Kurita does an excellent job of replicating) that emulates the feelings of these ships and her sailors while fighting back the forces of evil in WWII. American imperialists, communists, and the international finical/jewish system sought to destroy what was left of honor, tradition, and family values that were heavily present in Japanese and German society. I felt a personal connection to these ships, almost as if I really was commanding their holy war. The sense of loss plays heavily on the emotions of players (myself included). For example, my wifes sinking voice que is “Admiral... May your fortunes hold... I'll... be watching from Valhalla...”. Valhalla is the hall of fallen heroes in Norse mythology. She has yet to sink, however, just reading that I sensed a powerful connection to her which isn’t really present in any other franchise.

Removing seam lines is a personal preference but the basic way is glue the piece together (Super glue or plastic cement) then use some kind of putty to fill it. My preference is milliput because it's cheap and you can sand it down once it's dry. Green stuff is often recommended but it isn't as hard when dry and can detach. Squadron putty or tamiya putties fine too. It's all the same process but picking what works for you.

Painting depends on what you're doing. If you just want to fill in the missing colours hand brushing is fine. If you want to do a full repaint then spray cans or an airbrush is recommended. There are professionals who hand paint and make really good paint jobs but it's very difficult. If I was just starting out I would pick up a vallejo starter paint set and the spray cans for the large areas. Army painter are the best bang for your buck spray can wise.

/wip/ is dead on /tg/. The best place he could go is cuckchan's /m/ or /toy/ and go to the gunpla threads there to find the guides. Or the ever awful r/gunpla. There aren't any good gunpla communities in English and Reddit is unfortunately the best you're getting for advice and tutorials. Just expect it to be Reddit and don't stick around longer than you have to. If you want to get feedback or see pro-modelers instagram is popular with Asian modelers as well as Western ones. A lot of work there doesn't leave the place and it can be useful for contacting people. There is facebook too but that's worse than the other options since most facebook users will crosspost on cuckchan any way

I've explored the community, it mostly sucks and you're going to have to go places you don't like or end up isolated

Being a Gunplafag outside of Japan is suffering. I want to pick up some armour core kits but they're incredibly expensive without postage even coming into it. I wouldn't mind paying the retail price but when postage is £10-20 on an order it becomes unreasonable.

I was looking at picking up a 1/100 Gundam 00 Terien for a diorama piece mounting 1/72 German flak cannons on the back but I refuse to pay £10 postage on a £20 kit. I tried all the usual sources for a cheaper alternative but it's out of stock every where. A 10 year old kit of an unpopular design in an unpopular grade isn't going to see much reprints.

One day when I own my own house, perhaps. It will be on the list right under building a Japanese-style bathroom but with qaijin-sized bath tub. In the mean time, here's the daki I bought and the wall scroll. I posted the smug keychain in the camping thread so I don't feel like reposting it. I've attached it to my keys so she's always with me at work. I might take down the wall scroll/hide my daki when my grandparents come out to visit, but that has more to do with not wanting to cripple their old bones any further than anything else. My immediate family and extended family can be disappointed in me, but I want my grandparents to have a good image of me before they die still. I particularly like this daki not just because it was cheap/still new in its original packaging, but because the SFW side is very mildly lewd while the lewd side is still tasteful and SFW instead of 18+. Perhaps one day I can muster the courage for an 18+ daki of her, but that day is not today. In the mean time the wall scroll was mounted on my door into my room.

Don't waste your effort on learning a language you have no real use for. As you get older you will out grown japanese media (Most do) and you will have a useless second language where a real skill could of been. Unless you're planning to use it as a career, it's just a bad time investment. The reward isn't there as opposed to almost anything else you could do.

I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong but they're usually young enough to still be obsessed with anime and aren't building a real life instead.

Good luck fixing your life.

Between 25-35 is when people tend to give up their teenage hobbies or at least limit them down majorly. There's more important things to be doing than watching TV shows and your body isn't as capable of sustaining the damage it does to it. Eyes don't recovery as fast from long hours staring at a screen, sleep isn't as easy to dodge for "just one more episode" and if you repeat the same activity over and over it becomes less enjoyable as is human nature. It's usually about how long it takes to notice a decline in the quality of things from what you originally had.

The only people who still cling to childhood hobbies beyond that tend to fail to launch so to speak. They don't develop adult relationships and continue to use escapism as their primary method of living. Most of them aren't enjoying it but it's sort of an addiction at that point where you keep going back because you have nothing else even though it makes you feel just as bad or worse unlike previously where it was pretty enjoyable.

The way life changes as people grow can be seen in a lot of older anime franchises and how they market themselves. Aim for the children with TV series and release movies or OAVs for adults who enjoy 90 minutes of nostalgia every year or two but mostly grew out of it. Sunrise are perfecting that model with Gundam being the poster child for it.

This is getting off topic now, but as that anon said, he's looking at his life and where he wants to be and how to achieve it. "I want to watch anime without subtitles" isn't progressing your life in the direction you want it to go at that stage of life. So unless you have a long commute and can listen to something like Japan pod 101 or whatever while doing it, it's mostly a silly childish dream that adult you should accept. It's not like you're going to be investing 200 hours in untranslated RPGs and reading piles of manga when you have to work 9 til 5, take care of errands and potentially look after kids. You have to ask yourself the honest question. "Do I want to have a family or do I want to read manga alone for the rest of my life?" That's ultimately the time being sacrificed between either of those goals. Especially in the modern era where you have to be extremely careful in who you attach yourself to and need to vet them extremely hard.

I did start learning Japanese myself a few years back, I figured I could read untranslated mangas and play Japanese games no one would translate. I realize they were stupid goals which didn't improve my life in any meaningful way. These days it mostly annoys me when I understand things because I realize how much time and effort I wasted just to read comics. It was to put it simply a mistake of my youth. I could have put that time into things that would of improved my life drastically and I would still have had more media to consume from Japan than I could possibly do in 1 life time even if I did nothing else any way.

Daki update: I debated between a "proper" daki filling pillow and memory foam, but decided on the memory foam for weight-related reasons (it also happened to be cheaper). I can wholeheartedly say that this was the right choice. An hour after unsealing the memory foam pillow from its vacuum sealing it's finally regaining its natural form inside the case, and while it might not be as luxury as a proper daki pillow, the extra weight is a very nice touch that makes it feel like I'm actually cuddling her. It's still a bit lumpy, but I imagine this will be a self-correcting problem if given a few days to conform to my hugging her.

<Memory foam: about 1 inch due to American sizing

I can't rate comfiness factor since I've never owned the DHR, but I wanted "weight" and "conformity" in my daki, and so far the memory foam delivers. DHR is probably great, but it wasn't what I was going for in a daki pillow and was outside what I was willing to spend as an "upgrade" from my smaller pillow I previously was using. The memory foam is perfectly fine to snuggle in these hot months so I'll probably stick to it for the time being. Much in the same way one goes to minimalist shoes, skeletoes, then vibrams, I'll likely upgrade to a proper pillow next year.

I've used the cospa daki inner in the past, the found that the 160x60 inner needs to be used with 150x50 daki covers for a nice, fluffy, fit. I understand where you're coming from anon, but you fail to realize that many of us did sacrifice our hobbies in favor of pursuing that "adult life" you described, looked into the jaws of 3DPD hell, and decided to say "fuck that shit." You're correct that my body isn't as capable of sustaining the damage I used to do to it, hell, I'm in my mid 20s and most evenings I take an hour nap when I get home from work from sheer exhaustion, but learning to enjoy your hobbies in moderation has absolutely nothing to do with this "failing to launch" the proper term is arrested development, but I understand why you were avoiding using it since you must have realized yourself the sorts of responses you'd receive. You can call it escapism if you want, but I (and others) have developed to a point where we understand how superficial the relationships around us are, even among our own family members. I understand that my family will use me and abuse me to their own ends the same way any 3DPD would, hell, they use their familial status to take it a step further. I gazed into the jaws of 3DPD and realized the fact that they're almost all superficial whores. Perhaps 70, 80 years ago, maybe even 20-30 years ago meaningful human relationships existed involving give and take, but outside of very select communities where those still exist, my fellow human beings are largely selfish, crass animals who give in to their base instincts and only associate with others for those "feel good" feelings instead of to form those "adult relationships" you refer to. I witness people in their mid 30s, hell even in their 40s and 50s who act like they're spry and 21 on a daily basis.

I don't claim to be any less crass, to be any less of a debased creature, but I think it's deceitful to yourself and others to pretend as if real communities like those exist en masse. There are surely small communities out there where people have codes of honor still, where people develop as adults and form proper relationships, but those sorts of people aren't going to be here on 8chan nor are you going to find them in the major cities. There's also the "success story" types who seem to always be satisfied, who have those successful relationships, etc. but in reality they're just normalfags fooling themselves into believing that what they have couldn't be shattered at any moment by a "wrongthink" comment and forcing themselves to always be smiling, always acting like they're happy- they are not happy, but they've certainly fooled themselves into thinking they are. And trust me, anon, I'd love to play the part of the fool who is ignorant of the world around them and the nature of man. I'd be a much, much happier person if I could pretend that those deep relationships still existed on a larger scale, but in the age of technology and communication where humans (including myself) are herded like cattle through these urban hub, there's no use pretending that such a relationship will ever exist.

You call it escapism, but escapism is to imply you're trying to avoid confronting reality. You've never considered that, perhaps, anons have confronted that reality, realized how shitty it is, perhaps realized that "adult relationships" is just codeword for hookers and blow giving into our primal instincts for sex and offspring, and that such primal instincts are in themselves a sort of escapism. Would I like to have kids? Sure. It'd be great to have a loving wife and kids. Fuck, I almost got married at one point. I also know that my ideal woman, one who is loyal, chaste/fidelitous, shares my hobbies, and is in a sense a life partner, is basically a unicorn. I can compromise in so many ways, but the easiest way not to lose a rigged game is to not play it in the first place. One base instinct (3DPD, human interaction in general) simply makes me more and more depressed as a human being every time I indulge it though, while my base instincts such as climbing mountains, camping, lifting weights, watching anime, writing novels, etc. make me feel fulfilled as a human being. My aunt never had children, but she was a neonatal nurse who traveled to third world countries to show doctors and nurse there proper 1st world neonatal training. Her only joy in life was traveling. According to your own post she "failed to launch" and was a failed human being because she didn't "develop adult relationships." According to the American Association of University Professors, 87% of women and 81% of men will produce offspring in their lifetime. You'd claim that (very roughly) 1.2 billion people on earth are failed human beings simply on the basis that they have a passion for something else. Anon's desire to learn Japanese or to scanlate, or what have you is no less valid than a physicist's desire to unravel the secrets of our world, or perhaps a Bio-Chemist's desire to create a cure for some disease. That is a position I simply can not accept. So what if anime actually is escapism for some people? The world as we know it is fucking burning. It's turning inside out. Anons should pursue their passions, as small as those might be. Learning a language, or learning to draw, or learning anything is never a fruitless task if it gets you outside your comfort zone and is taken up seriously. Many of the skills one might learn from drawfagging or writefagging (as examples) translate into real willpower and mental processing skillsets that can help anon in the real world. Hobbies don't let us escape, they let us recharge so that we can go back into this cruel world and not murder someone in the streets because of the clown world we're living in. If you found enjoyment in some 3DPD whore I hope it works out for you, but your defeatist attitude because you can't purchase more robutt on your shit-tier wages and subsequent coping mechanisms don't really have a place on /a/, especially not trying to lecture anon with a holier-than-thou attitude.

Polite sage.

Those things are not mutually exclusive and you know it. You sound like someone who was forced to give up something he enjoyed by his significant other, or just got rid of it yourself to "improve your chances", and deep down, you despise yourself for compromising your own integrity like that. It wasn't about anime, or manga, or family, it was about strength of character and being true to yourself, and you know you fell short.

Now, the only way you can console yourself is painting it as "the mature thing to do" and inciting others to repeat your folly.

Why would I want to have a family now, when I can't ensure that the wife isn't gonna cut me out of the picture or that my children are even my own? What sane man would want to be shackled in debt slavery paying astronomical levels of child support and alimony? Pretty sure it's loneliness and peer pressure that get most men to equip the shackle and chains. I'm sure some anons found unicorns or best mates with a vag. But considering every relationship I've seen and experienced. I think I'll stick with myself, my hobbies and goals. And if I accidentally pick up a 3dpd parasite along the way (God help me). Then I dunno what I'll do.

Family and friends think I'm a lowkey homo and many of them are religous, so at least I can avoid them trying to set me up again. My brothers and sisters can instead deliver the grand kids.

Are there companies that make Precure figures from recent seasons? The ones I find are long sold out and from the early (about heartcatch and earlier) seasons. Even if no figures are made I'm only finding keychains, clothes, and cosplay stuff. I can't even find posters/tapestries.

TOM gave me a $20 coupon, so I preordered this figure. It's pretty small and the paint job isn't great but I like her scooter and the overall character design. I think she'll look cute on my shelf next to my noodle stopper figs. does this mean I have to start watching Yuru Camp

I'm kind of assuming the 2kg limit on SAL SP includes the weight of the box it ships in, is that right? Trying to stuff what I can in there and wondering what sort of weight leeway I should leave on the order for that to not get slightly boned on having to do a double shipment, like 150g or so?

Not too strongly. I couldn't ghost her because she knew my family, so things escalated when I politely told her I had no interest. Family more or less took that and my lack of no serious 3dpd relationships as me being homo or asexual. Works fine for me though, I wanna enjoy my life and not be another lonely loser who gets married out of desperation for affection.

I have that same Ram - good taste anon. The guide has some decent tips for base attachment. It may be worthwhile trying at different times of the day, and at different temperatures. I've had some figures that refused to attach properly to the base during a cold night, but went on just fine in a mild daytime.

>>944645

You definitely should watch Yurucamp. I make it a rule to only get figures of shows I've watch - I think it leads to a greater attachment to the figure if you are invested in the character and her show.

>>944655

Anyway weight limit would include the container it's shipped in. So the 2kg limit there would include the weight of the box and contents.

>>944695

Nice collection of BD/DVD anon.

I've essentially run out of room in my display cabinets now. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on some nicer display cabinets to replace the 6 detolfs I have, which would also slightly increase my display capacity. Only issue is the ones I'm eyeing off are a good $1200 each, which I can afford but find it hard to justify.

What direction should Japanese media be stacked on shelves, left-to-right or right-to-left?

>>944695

Why BDs?

Buying translated manga makes sense, since there's an objective difference between reading manga on a screen versus on paper. But what difference does it make watching anime from a disk rather than a torrented mkv?

If you really want something on your shelf, you could go as far as getting a BD burner and a set of blanks. Blanks and that style of case are both a dollar apiece on Amazon, and burners look to be around $80. Add on a few cents for printing the liner too, if you want. Meanwhile an official BD is what, $60? For the cost of a handful of official BDs, you could have entire shelves of bootlegs - without money going to localization companies, and with your choice of subs.

Actually, scratch those prices. I forgot my leafbucks are worthless. Blanks and burners are only 2/3 that in USD on American Amazon, and cases less than half.

Most of the stuff I have with the exception of Ghibli films and LNs is secondhand from eBay. So localization ain't getting shit beyond that. But I'll look into what you said about making my own bootlegs, Amazon just came to my country so at least that's an option now.

Okay, so it'll be a $500 AUD investment to get started. I want the BluRay discs to look legit (for me), so I'd need a printer that support CD printing. Then the actual paper, blanks and covers. It pays off in the long term, so I'm considering it. That and I get my own printer (not that I ever use one). Worth it though considering how fucking expensive some DVDs are. Fuck Geneon Entertainment for releasing so few copies in the West. Legit can't find any copies of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha that aren't garbage Malaysian bootlegs.

NM, eBay is cheaper. Gonna cost less than $200 AUD for everything I need to make up to 10 BluRays. This includes a printer and ink for custom BluRay art. If I knew DIY bootlegs were this cheap, then I'd have been doing this from the start. And worse case scenario, I have a decent printer and some spare cases that I wasted $10 on. Anyways, fuck the official shit.

Yeah, and it's not like BluRay collecting where you can affordably mass produce quality replicas. The only other option I'd see would be for you to pay someone from ETSY (or similar site) to make a replica. But those can be just as expensive.
