>What is labeled as underrated classic today?
I call Adachi an underrated classic because his stuff is altogether unknown in the west where his name is almost like a household name in Japan. He's underrated here by a huge margin.
>I have known mostly of titles like that from Vaporwave/future funk clips, I am ashamed.
As long as you get interested in the source, you won't be a filthy secondary.
>Also, this series is finished without a end.
Yeah, I noticed that, whcih is why I started on the manga after finishing the anime. What's more interesting is that the events are all switched around The final episode of the anime is like chapter 16 in the manga, for example. In any case, the anime actually did everything better, but it lacked the meta 4th wall breaking jokes with Adachi himself coming into the panel and such. I just wish the anime got to finish.
>Adachi never has done something similar beyond baseball?
Adachi manga is actually shounen romance masquerading as a sports manga. Miyuki is the only one that doesn't have a sport theme, which allows it an unique opportunity to poke fun at the fact and break the fourth wall as seen here. >>886635
But yeah, Nozomi Witches has a boxing theme, Slow Start has a boxing and girl's softball theme, Touch did both boxing and baseball, and Hiatari Ryoukou has male cheerleading and baseball. But in reality, all of these have nothing to do with any sport. His stuff is shounen romance comedy.
