We live in a newfag age where nobody knows any of the classics. Post about that series now that you've always wanted to post about but were too afraid it'd never get any replies. In particular, I remember anons being scared that unknown, often untranslated titles will fade into no seed hell like so many already are.

If you don't post about it here, nobody in this age might ever know about it.

Miyuki is by Adachi Mitsuru, a master of classic shounen romance. He is also responsible for Touch, the famous classic in Japan but extremely unknown in the west, and Hiatari Ryoukou!, which was semi-popular in the old VHS-trading days of western otaku when they got together for cons specifically to watch anime they could otherwise never see or get together in a small hotel room with 20 or so men crowding around a tiny TV.

In Miyuki, the shounen MC steals panties of the girl he likes on accident, which leads him down a path of getting slapped by her, and eventually dating her. Her name is Miyuki. Walking home the day he stole the panties, he meets a cute girl who asks for directions. This girl turns out to be his long lost imouto moving in to live with him while their father is away. It turns out her name is also Miyuki, and they happen to not be blood related, a secret MC tries to keep from him imouto even though she obviously likes him. The story follows this guy and his love triangle between the girl of his dreams and his little sister.

Imouto Miyuki is played by popular at this time idol Oginome Youko, her only anime role.

Imouto Miyuki best Miyuki. Often while watching, I get so frustrated I want to yell "Just marry your sister already!" at the screen.

It was a popular anime in Japan and set the stage for the whole Imouto love triangle thing we see so often today, and the panties gag gets referenced every so often.

On another note, here's the famous Touch OP. When I found out about this anime, I was surprised how unknown it was in the west whereas in Japan it's part of the pop culture.

Orurorane the Cat Player is directed by the man who made California Crisis. He often made a lot of now obscure 80's OVAs. This one is about a lonely man stumbling on a drunk old man who feeds his cats booze and then plays the cat like instruments. It's 30 minutes long.

Wataru. An isekai show set in a fantasy world with video game mechanics. Featuring an invincible hero leisurely traveling around to complete quests and slay the Demon King. Sounds like it would fit quite well in the current season, except it was released in 1989, almost 30 years ago. The biggest source of inspiration for the modern-day isekai creators. A direct competitor of Dragonball, popular in its own right and successful enough to get three seasons. The thing that single-handedly kickstarted the career of Hayashibara Megumi. And simply an immersive adventure.

Highschool Kimengumi

Was some gag mango about 5 weird faced kids going to highschool and getting into weird shit.

Was posted ages ago on a "misleading OP/EDs" thread

Only a movie/ OVA was ever subbed.

I found some crappy french dub on YT (like 80 episodes)

The show was supposed to be almost as popular as Urusei Yatsura back in the day.

The most of the original manga have been translated in the last couple of years unofficially.

None of the other works of the author have been translated officially or by scanlators.

Akazukin Chacha

An older style mahou shoujo comedy manga that was adapted into an anime during the 90s. A lot of the manga was changed for the anime, most noticeably the addition of a transformation sequence every episode to put the show in line with the then current mahou shoujo trends. However, the comedy remains the highlight and the fun is from how all the cast interacts with each other. And if you don't think the best girl is Yakko then you may have shit taste. Also notable is that ChaCha is the first role for Suzuki Masami, who also voiced Amelia in Slayers. It's a good show to watch an episode of here and there, but probably not suitable for binge watching.

It's just unknown. The plot is crazy for Mahou Shoujo or idol anime, isn't it? But it all ties in together in the end when the cute loli shows the city the miracle she believed in. It was beautiful. You don't see biker gangs, terrorism, societal decay, or greedy old men who takes advantage of girls (even his own daughter) often in Mahou Shoujo, Idol, or Cinderella loli anime. But this one had all of that and it all worked. It was as if a loli was confronted with the harshness of reality and instead of her accepting it, she changed it with a miracle born from her purity.

It's more inspirational than most anime with the same concept, like Ideon for example.

For low rent Saint Seiya this show was pretty awesome, they switched things up enough plotwise that it kept it fresh. All eleven girls, except maybe the first one (it's the type of character I've never found very appealing), were cute and angelic in nature, their stories were interesting and captivating, and a remarkable aspect of the anime was how each and every story was presented in a distinguished manner with unconventional camera angles/perspectives and whatnot. Koi Kaze

2005 anime about a 27 year old man and his 15 year old sister reconciling their love for each other. The show does an amazing job of characters realistically interacting with each other; to the point of bringing a sense of suspense to the viewer even with a plot so often produced in recent years. It doesn't cuck out and go the non-blood related root and doesn't hide the possibility of devastating the people involved. Slow burn; yet the the last 2 episodes are absolutely brilliant. >What is labeled as underrated classic today?

I call Adachi an underrated classic because his stuff is altogether unknown in the west where his name is almost like a household name in Japan. He's underrated here by a huge margin.

>I have known mostly of titles like that from Vaporwave/future funk clips, I am ashamed.

As long as you get interested in the source, you won't be a filthy secondary.

>Also, this series is finished without a end.

Yeah, I noticed that, whcih is why I started on the manga after finishing the anime. What's more interesting is that the events are all switched around The final episode of the anime is like chapter 16 in the manga, for example. In any case, the anime actually did everything better, but it lacked the meta 4th wall breaking jokes with Adachi himself coming into the panel and such. I just wish the anime got to finish.

>Adachi never has done something similar beyond baseball?

Adachi manga is actually shounen romance masquerading as a sports manga. Miyuki is the only one that doesn't have a sport theme, which allows it an unique opportunity to poke fun at the fact and break the fourth wall as seen here. >>886635

But yeah, Nozomi Witches has a boxing theme, Slow Start has a boxing and girl's softball theme, Touch did both boxing and baseball, and Hiatari Ryoukou has male cheerleading and baseball. But in reality, all of these have nothing to do with any sport. His stuff is shounen romance comedy.

So, sorry, but I got autistic about my translating.

The batch will have only 2 episodes max. What happened is originally I wanted to only give the anon a basic understanding using the shitty Russian subs as a base, but the Russian subs were so damn bad that I basically said fuck it and translated it proper. I'm even going back to fix episode 1.
