I have some concerns about this.
There's a manga for this that has 21 chapters and it's ended, they wont be making any more.
So that's 13 episodes to cover 21 chapters seems pretty simple to split each episode to 2 about chapters per episode and it should have a good flow to it right?
Except for the fact that episode 1 covered the first 10 chapters.
So the next 12 episodes are going to either be really long and have nothing happen in them or be full of filler.
I'm betting the latter

>A phonon is the quantum mechanical description of an elementary vibrational motion in which a lattice of atoms or molecules uniformly oscillates at a single frequency. While normal modes are wave-like phenomena in classical mechanics, phonons have particle-like properties too, in a way related to the wave–particle duality of quantum mechanics.

The confession scene was really good, however all the reasoning behind the story's conflict was so dumb and lazy. Who is the culprit and why did he do it? Why is someone of such a high status affected so much by some barely mean comments from random people? Wasn't she just supposed to be angry at her mom?
Also, the whole conclusion's point is to go against the tide if you have to but they are not really doing that, both are still looking for approval from everyone at school. In mc's case, he wasn't in a situation only caring about his life ignoring people, the cuck simply didn't wan't to cause any trouble in the "atmosphere". Japan's society is so strange honestly.

Well, we already have an MC who allegedly beat the shit out of three other students and threw his cellphone into the ocean for reasons yet unknown, a character who was ignored after leaving the industry because her mother forced her into being a gravure model in middle school, and a little sister who ended up becoming a (possibly self-harming) hikkikomori after being severely bullied for ignoring a text/social media or some shit, and instead of doing anything to help their parents just ignored it. I would say that's probably abnormal even in Japan, and obviously unhealthy, though admittedly I've never been there, and I'm mostly drawing from my experiences among rich high school students in China. Beyond that it's just a bunch of thought experiments that the author didn't understand being poorly applied to cute anime girls, kind of like a monogatari for retards from /iflscience/.

I read my manga in Japanese so that's not hard, I thought atmosphere wasn't a bad translation. Basically the it's the concept that "The nail that sticks out gets hammered", people read the atmosphere and try to not stand out by following unspoken rules. That's why everyone ignored the nationwide famous idol in the school and made no big deal about it.
But the observe in Schrodinger's cat has nothing to do with observing or acknowledging with human eyes or consciousness. It's a mistake a lot of people seem to genuinely believe because of pop-sci videos, use of the word observe and something as big as a cat being used in the example.

I thought Schroedinger's Cat was meant as a criticism of the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics, not as a serious possibility that the cat would be in both alive and dead states. But then following from his understanding of the Copenhagen Interpretation, I guess in the scenario he outlined that the cat would exist in both states until observed. I didn't really like the application of this to Mai's case, because it's not like she's in two states at once until observed, it was just that no one was observing her and this was causing her to disappear, so no one could. The whole thing about Adolescent Syndrome could have been explained more succinctly without dragging the cat into it.

The author obviously didn't think that deeply and uses the Von Neumann-Wigner interpretation, which is a bad misunderstanding in my opinion.
First of all measuring is a more appropriate word than observing, which causes these misunderstandings. Because people, even scientist might assume this observing for the collapse requires a conscious mind and soul of a human that's separate from physical world for the collapse to happen.
In reality there's no way to prove that this separate soul exists and it's the domain of philosophy, not physics. Even without a human a measurement is still a measurement. The author probably has no idea about Neumann or Wigner and just got misled by the word 観察者.
I think if they handled adolescent syndrome like Charlotte it would have been better, just call it something crazy like magic meteor powder giving people weird powers that work against them. "Bakemonogatari with girls related to scientific concepts" sounds interesting but only if the author has respect for what he's writing.

Show looks pretty good but I hope this doesn't become a forced drama fest. Why would he even agree to this slut's offer, he knows it'll fuck up his chances of recovering from the misunderstanding, which I have a lingering feeling will become a major plot sticking point and drag down the whole show with it, at least for a few episodes. The only way that wouldn't happen is if MC explains everything to Mai, and ends up incorporating Yui's seiyuu into his group of friends rather than pretending to be her boyfriend full time.
The use of the misunderstanding to stymie the progression of a romance plot in anime has always been shit, and I don't know why the japs rely on it so much. Here's hoping I'm just being paranoid, and MC-kun will properly explain everything, and the show will continue progressing. Also, these whores make my blood boil

This was a nice twist on the loop concept, Sakuta figured out how to stop the loop early but the problem is now he has to live out this charade with his kouhai or else the loop will resume again, until he figures out and resolves the underlying issues with her that will allow her to turn down the guy who likes her. This also puts him in tension with Mai (who at least is willing to hear him out at the end of this episode, but I can't imagine she is going to like the arrangement.)

It wouldn't even be that bad if they didn't spend such a big chunk of the episode on it. At the pace this is going, it seems like there's going to be more supernatural things going on, and more goofy explanations to go with them. The reddit-tier getup the girl who does the explaining has on doesn't make it any better. I guess you can just skip them, if they get too bothersome.

>unusual that Mai would go looking for the MC to explain the misunderstanding rather than continuing to duck or spurn him before he makes some wild gesture to get her attention, so maybe there's something in this still.
This is my hope as well. It does seem that in ending the episode on that scene, they sort of tease a reconciliation, and since there's no one to get between them or prevent an explanation it would be hard to fuck it up.
I also am liking this show, for the relatively high animation quality if nothing else, and the MC is certainly not bad at all.
>>873564
>he has to live out this charade with his kouhai or else the loop will resume again,
I hadn't considered that, maybe it was the act of falling into senpai's arms that undid the time loop, rather than shaking the other guy's interest. It would certainly make the situation with Mai make a lot more sense, and be more purposeful.

I'm fine with the science explanations having nothing to do with the real science, as they are merely thought experiments designed to think through how the syndromes work, but I think they fucked this one up. While the premise of Laplace's Demon has a tenuous connection to the time-repeating scenario, Tomoe does not resemble the demon in any way.
A better topic for this situation would be strange attractors and chaos theory. While the day could differ in many ways with very small changes in behavior, all of them revolve around the confession. He can only escape the basin of attraction that causes time to repeat if this event is removed.

Devil Survivor actually tried to use Laplace's Demon in a meaningful way that made sense from the "If you know the position of every single particle in the universe in a given moment you can simply calculate what is going to happen from that moment onwards" perspective (and it even had real demons in it as a bonus). That it got fucked up more and more as you overturned the future it foretold was a nice extra touch

I think it might be wrong to ask for a culprit nor do I think a person's status is supposed to matter.
The book might explain it though I cannot tell of much the translation influences my conclusions.
In the LN the term " 'atmosphere' " seems to play a central role and is mentioned a lot, 54 instances in fact though obviously there are some repetitions in the same paragraph.
Furthermore there is a mention of the double slit experiment and that only observing the results and observing an experiment fully can change the results, scientific accuracy and applicability is not of relevance for this.
Now I think the general idea is that perception shapes reality, the 'atmosphere' refers to the way a person, a situation, a place and the combination thereof is perceived by a group in this case first the school then the public.
The issue is that Mai does not only let this 'atmosphere', this status quo be but actually embraces it, yes relishes in it because she gains peace from the masses through it.
Due to the fact that she enforces the current perception she makes it reality.
It is a bit similar to someone always acting confident around others and through forcing a perception and acting according to it becoming confident.
Her lack of acting angry towards her mom, might be the issue back then she went with the flow as well.
>"She wouldn’t be allowed to cause a scene at the time. She had to read the atmosphere and choose cleverly. She had to act like an adult, even though she was a child."
As for the conclusion, mc changed his view drastically. from:
>“Rumours are like the atmosphere. The ‘atmosphere’ in ‘that kind of atmosphere’… The kind of ‘atmosphere’ that you have to read.”
>“Just failing to read it gets you treated badly… And you know, the ones that create that atmosphere aren’t involved with it, so if I explained the truth, it’d probably just end up a joke with them saying ‘What’s that? Laaame’.” He wouldn’t be fighting against the people in front of him, so even if he said something there wouldn’t be any response. And yet, if he did anything, there would be a concentrated reaction from elsewhere. “And fighting against the atmosphere is ridiculous.”
>“So you’re leaving the misunderstanding as it is and giving up without trying.”
to:
>Of course, there was an influence from screaming his love in the middle of the sports field, but… Rather than the ‘hospital incident guy’, all of the students had affixed the labels of ‘cringey guy’ and ‘that’s the rumored Sakuta’. Just walking down the corridor let him hear stifled laughter and school had grown more and more uncomfortable.
>However, he had been able to bring Mai back and so had had a complete change of attitude to ‘it doesn’t really matter’. Honestly, if he hadn’t thought so, he couldn’t have done it.
All of that had a price for him.
Tough I don't believe it was about going against the 'atmosphere' in general and more a case of " The world is the way it is, if you're unhappy about your situation you can ignore it and be at least partially responsible or you act and do something. The latter always being the harder way."

I'm going to assume you don't have much exposure to Japanese society.
