I'm watching it while I slack at work and it's fantastic. The intro worried me with the middle school shit, but since the anime actually followed through with Anzu being homeless and Hitomi being a bartender that makes up for it

Cross Game. Went in expecting another dumb sports shonen with even dumber characters. Instead I got a story and some light tension during baseball games of all things.

Ninja Scroll. All I'd ever seen before were Pokemon, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball (Z). Suffice to say that it caught my attention.

Detroit Metal City. I wasn't expecting it to actually be funny. Certainly wasn't expecting to laugh so fucking hard that I'd end up in tears.

Amagami SS. It's a harem. The protagonist isn't a spineless beta. The girls are more than just cliches. It doesn't take 12½ episodes for a confession or a kiss. It doesn't make any god damn sense!

And of course, Hinamatsuri. Funny and heartwarming

I re-read what I wrote and realized I screwed up. The only exposure I had had to anime before watching Ninja Scroll from from the 3 shows I'd listed. Watching Ninja Scroll made me realize there was more to anime than power of friendship, battle transformations and poor pacing. And if you've never seen Ninja Scroll, it's a god damn classic and it certainly isn't a shonen.

Fully agree with High Score Girl, had no expectations at all, but it ended up being my AOTS and AOTY(so far).

High Score Girl and Houseki no Kuni changed my opinion about full CG anime.

I already watched Sora Yori, it didn't surprise me, because I had high expectations for it.

It's a good anime, but I was disappointed by its middle section, Singapore was a chore to sit through.

My AOTY ranking would currently be:

1. High Score Girl

2. Yuru Camp

It was directed by Ishizuka Atsuko (No Game no Life) and I always enjoyed how she directs anime.

The OST is by Fujisawa Yoshiaki who did the best OST in 2017 (Houseki no Kuni).

And the PV also looked great.

Not a WHOA SHIT, but I ignored Konohana Kitan until some days ago, mostly because the threads here had the resident LRD-ish guy bitching about how the tiny girl got no lines, and how he/people bitched about the trap that was only for one chapter. I'm enjoying it right now very much, the art is beautiful and I haven't really found any QUALITY, though it's not a movement-heavy series anyway. The girls are very lovely, Yuzu makes my heart boner hard, and the emotional moments in all chapters have been quite good, especially the old lady with her ghost daughter and the rain loom.

Yes, I'm a faggot for tuning out of a series because of a resident shitposter.
