I don't know if it's the case here but it happens to many series that I enjoy.
Just one more reason to learn Japanese.

I actually feel as though the monstergirl fad has been weaning off, at least from how few monstergirl doujin I've been seeing on sadpanda as of the last year.
No.861164
I hope it wears off soon so all these unimaginative shitters that can't come up with anything but generic lamia/harpy/arachne/equine copypastes fuck off for good.
It ain't real monstergirls without mersharks, shoggoth slimes and manticores.
No.861167
They're also shittier than ever.

I wouldn't deride the classics. Age-old monsters like harpies will always have a place.
What they need is to be interesting. You can do a lot more with a harpy than "she's the cast's birdbrained airhead".

I fucking hate how no one bothers tying monster girl species with other mythological beings to make original shit
>phoenix harpy

God damn it all I want is a series where all the characters are gods and ancient beings, but they are also all cute monster girls.

That would be the running joke. Everyone insists Mothman-chan is actually a dude, but she's too stuttery and socially awkward to do anything about it.

>lamia/harpy/arachne/equine is bad
I disagree. Sure, some variety is good but most of the "monstergirls" we see these days hardly even qualify as such. Just look at MGE 90% of them ar just catgirls with fluffy gloves or regular humans. The monster parts usually just look like a costume too. Seems to me like these kinds of "monstergirls" are what caused the fad, since they appeal to normalcattle a wider audience.
I'd rather have one actual monster girl than a hundred of these unimaginative fakes.

Monster Musume was just animal hybrid girls. Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary features actual interesting monsters.
No.865225
>>865219
I think Hitomi's Infirmary is actually, in a weird way, closer to something like Hero Academia. Everyone has weird bodies that grant them different abilities and special traits, but there's odd drawbacks too. Where Hero Academia focuses on how they need to do powerup training so they can fight in the next tournament arc, this series focuses more on the way that these abnormal bodies affect society and how they interact. Monster Musume, on the other hand, just uses the monster girl idea as an excuse for big tiddies to get smushed in MC's face.
