About to jump into season 2. According to wiki, the manga is ongoing and a movie trilogy has been announced (oh and there's a movie).
Is the movie between the two seasons ?
Anyway, what should I know about this series. I just finished season 1. I liked it I guess. I haven't seen a sci fi action series in a while and at least it was new. Just not sure where I want to go from here...if I should continue from here.
I like teh violence, and seeing psychologically troubled or deranged people get hurt so badly is very satisfying. I wish someone would do that to me...just much quicker and with less pain.

Anime that's not Doraemon, Conan, Sazae-san or Anpanman are never expected to go long. It's why anime originals try to tell you the complete story, twist and everything, within it's allotted time.

I dislike it. Kamui is a pretty shit villain compared to Shogo and none of the new enforcers(including Geno) are any interest. Plus this whole subplot of having Akane be this super special person whose pass is always white and this retarded joke where two people really want to "black" her borders on a joke that everyone took too far. I felt that the movie handled her being more mature and a better investigator better than the entire second season.
I liked the movie, mainly the action scenes but also the copious amounts of English.

The movie in general was much better than season 2, and it's no wonder, because edgemaster Urobuchi is back to write the screenplay of the movie, while his absence for s2 was clearly felt. The replacement guy just had no idea what to do with the characters for that unnecessary cash-in sequel, because he hardly had a grasp of them to begin with.

I think focusing on Akane anymore is a terrible idea. The first season gave her an (in my opinion) pretty tight character arc and the ending from Season 1 pretty much tells you what she'll be up to nowadays, carrying on the legacy of Masaoka, Kougami and Saiga's detective approaches. It thrived on having her evolve from this naive child who's always being teased and reproached by others into this calm and collected detective, having her be this super special vendetta target of one of the Sybil System fucks like in season 2 or battle hardened commando/investigator hybrid was kind of unnecessary and it lacks the impact because Akane as a character has no where to go and the conversation from the first season with the Sybil system loses all of its punch and impact if it's being repeated in the second season and movie.
Let's not even get into how shit every other villain is compared to the S1 cast, even the one offs like the guy who hunts men and women in a sewer was leagues beyond Kamui or Bishounen Army General. Not Jax was a pretty fun character though
