I'll start with this: Exterminator, a manga about a middle aged man who worked as a pest exterminator until one day he died and was transported to another world for yet unknown reasons. His special abilities lie in knowing how to use traps and bait for pests and how to exploit a fantasy worlds ignorance on basic hygiene and pest control. I'm still torn on this one as it started out nicely but then is quickly becoming quite formulaic. Only go into this one if you are curious.

I like traps, I like futa, I like genderbender, and all that sort of thing. But if that's the manga I think it is, that character was the very image of a 3d-style tranny, and any good the rest of the manga had was too dragged down by how repellent it was.

His panels are mostly square or rectangular. It feels like the angles are always too horizontal, and since he fits too many in a single page it overloads you with information. yet that information isn't even interesting to being with. There's also the fact that the dude don't vary the type of panel he uses. Almost all of them use the same tones and movement lines to fill the backgrounds, It's not a lazy thing but I think the dude would have done more if he hadn't tried to fit like 10 new boring characters and just developed 2 or 3 and made them have actual monologue and reaction panels to add variety to the chapter.

I never considered using Paint.net but I can't imagine it's very useful. It might be serviceable with plugins but I have no idea otherwise. Would not recommend.
I haven't checked in with Krita in a couple months, but as far as I remember, it's still completely unusable for typesetting because its text tool is garbage. Years of promises and it's still nowhere near GIMP in that regard. Maybe you could use it for cleaning but it's really inconvenient. I'm not sure they even have a project save format that transfers between them cleanly. Would not recommend.
I hate everything about GIMP. Even after tweaking it to your liking, the basic behavior and lack of features is extremely frustrating for cleaning and typesetting. That being the case, I'm stuck using it because none of the pirated copies of Photoshop I found online seem to work with WINE. Even if I find one, it's so much effort to relearn my workflow that it's not even worth it. Once you get past questions like "why is my brush not doing anything?" and "how do I get these windows not to float?" it's not that bad. The text tool is not perfect, but it is serviceable. Absolutely necessary functions like Layer Styles do not exist and you need to download plugins to poorly emulate their functions. Too bad their plugin website has been abandoned for years and you'll have to find archives from the Wayback Machine or backups on Github. Recommended for freetards or those too lazy to pirate Photoshop.

I think you are completely wrong. It takes a lot of work for action to translate well from comics. I think very few anime can do it at all. Its difficult but still much easier to convey good action in a comic format than it is with animation.
And when I say action, I am talking about fighting or emphasis of power, that kind of stuff. Its easy to show rote actions in animation, but it is harder for the actions to look good. Manga and comics have a way of pacing the flow of a battle or a chase scene much better, in my opinion, with the paneling and layout. The way that pauses and reveals happen with page turns and the way that panels run together is awesome when done right.

Fukumoto's works are quite nice too if you don't mind his artstyle. Seizon - Life is one of his works, he wrote the story and someone else did the art. Since it's short and has standard art it works as a nice introduction to Fukumoto.
It's about a dude just diagnosed with terminal cancer. But when he's about to go to gensokyo, he gets a call from the police to tell him they found the corpse of his daughter which went missing 14 years ago. It was murder and the police isn't really expecting to catch the culprit, the statute of limitations expires in 6 months and he has 6 months left to live. Strongest Man Kurosawa is just awful, never recommend it to anyone. The author just tortures the main character, there`s never a payoff, he never gets what he wants, every win has an humiliation prior to it, he learns nothing with every loss, it`s just 20 chapters of depressing tales about his petty schemes. Then after suffering in silence he finally gets a small circle of people that sort of care about him, just to be squeezed into a coma for a decade and then becoming a fucking homeless that has to eat garbage to survive, living with people as depressing as him, it`s sick, I dropped it halfway the second part and up to that point the only true wholesome happiness he ever felt was a brief phone talk with his mother after 10 years on a hospital bed.

Not everyone gets what they want in life, specially if they make critical mistakes in life. Kurosawa is the story of a man who hasn't amounted to anything, he has nothing to feel proud, he feels lonely but he's a cranky and selfish who sucks at interacting with others. He's a cringy person who slowly improves and becomes a better person after all the struggles he suffered. Even if he lost everything after getting a little something, he still remains a better person than how he was at the start of the story You probably think kurosawa deserved better, maybe he did, but not everybody gets an orthodox happy ending. But despite all the shit he's gone throught, I'd say he's way happier 10 years later compared to his early days when he was a lonely blue collar talking to a construction mannequin about how sad his existence was.
Also I want to add you're a fucking piece of shit for not using spoilers.

Listen all I wanted is some payoff, a character that overcomes adversity just to end up with less that what he had is a frustrating history to follow. Kurosawa does not improve, his health and social standing is methodically diminished while he himself gets more delusional and with less expectations towards himself and his life. I may be crazy but it works like some allegory to Buda as he gets more and more humbled and let everything he owns gone except he is too stupid of a character for that to truly work. All of this happening with the author clumsily discussing social topics semi-relevant or not relevant at all to the main history, never failing to kick the MC around.

The story arcs are nonsensical, short and is just about being as vile as possible and have unsatisfying conclusions. While that may be the point of it it still makes me sick.

Heh, edgefests generally take themselves much more seriously than Murcielago does. Kuroko is played for laughs more than badassery, and the villains are over the top. Sure, innocent victims are present, but the focus on their suffering is much, much lesser than your typical "people trapped in a game of death" manga. I know I was straight up repulsed by the utter cruelty and joylessness of some, and Murcielago was mostly just a silly action romp to me. A gory one, sure, but I'll take gore over vividly and slowly depicted terror and despair as featured in some shit I've read.

I agree with >>852119 that it's more of an over-the-top action comedy than a serious grimderp gory drama. I usually hate these edgy stories about super evil villains that just go complete batshit crazy in abusing and murdering innocent people, and while I still don't like that part of Murcielago, it's very much played down favor of the yuri and the comedy, as well as the action. It feels like the edge and the darker aspects are only really the result of dialing everything up to 11, rather than something very integral to the manga.

Because of a little thing called the Fabian strategy. The romans realized they stood no chance against Hannibal in large scale battles and went full scorched earth guerilla in Italian soil. Hannibal had pretty much no choice but to plunder local villages to keep his army supplied. Of course mercenaries would fuck up civilians in such a context. You can blame the Carthaginians, but the whole situation was caused by Rome putting the rest of Italy in jeopardy just to make sure Hannibal wouldn't reach them.

>What I don't get is what's so interesting about her senpai for her to fall for him.
I haven't read the first couple chapters in a long time, but if I recall correctly, the whole point is that Niggatoro is constantly getting hit on by normalfags. Most guys probably either don't say anything to her or they're constantly hitting on her. She's aware that senpai likes her even from the start based on his drawings, but he doesn't try to force himself on her like the others do. In the western world this probably seems strange to your sensibilities (and from the slavs I know, this would also seem strange to their sensibilities), but Japan has a lot in common with 1930s-1950s America in a lot of ways from a societal-cultural standpoint. For her it's probably endearing that a guy likes her but is too much of pleb to actually admit it, and she gets to tease him in the process. When you tease someone on a daily basis, and not just in a mean way or in a "same joke every day" way, but coming up with new ways and finding out more about someone, you're more than likely eventually going to develop some feelings for them unless you're a sociopath. This can be seen in the manga as Nagatoro goes from finding his drawings cute but otherwise just enjoying bullying him to developing feelings of friendship to, in more recent chapters, developing feelings resembling love. Nagatoro herself is probably confused by this herself and we'll likely see an exposition chapter in the coming months about this very topic.

Though she'll certainly still be constipated, she'll go from shitting once a week at most to regularly shitting twice a week and she'll no longer find blood in her stool. No.856189

As long as you don't lynch the ones that aren't ESLfags and actually give a shit. Did you know there's a group that's retranslating the early chapters of Berserk?

There's hope in this world. I'm tempted to take one of these series with only one translation, remove all the translators names/credit pages, and delete their lolrandomb thoughts from the pages. if not just for the anal devestation

This should all be self evident, but it's not, so I'm glad there's a guide out there. What's with insufferable normalfags and putting out godawful translations? Shouldn't that be more niche?
No.856205
>>856201
Honestly the problem is less normalfags and more ESLfags and underage fujoshi/weeaboos. They're the ones with no standards and no self awareness, so they legitimately think that sort of shit is OK. They're also a lot more likely to "translate" with Google Translate.
I could go on all day, but I think we all know the type. Teenagers are the fucking worst.

Stunning resemblance. Just needs a tan and its the same character. I guess red hair goes well with that little bit darker than (pink white?) skin tone since I see it often, also bonus points for having a very similar body type.

The epitome of shitty "TL" notes is Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo Dorei Majutsu early chapters. Every two pages this nigger would write the most obnoxious comments, and he wasn't even the translator. I remembered that when people praised the uncommented version he threw a bitch fit about it in a TL note, but I couldn't find it. Here's some other work from him.

The comments section on mangadex is pretty cancerous. This is in response to someone complaining about whitepods excessive niggardry in the manga itself and endpages:
>You could have always skipped the last page and read the next part, but since it appears you lack the skill to do even such a simple thing, then I will respect your decision and leave you be without any attempt to correct your choice nor judgement over a simple page that you could easily avert your eyes from or quickly click away from; well, your loss, but I believe you already know that.
I> wish you the best of lucks and hope you can find a great manga without annoying credit pages; I recommend you MangaFox or MangaReader or any kind of leech page, I heard they cut the credit pages off from the chapters and don't give a shit about the work the translators had to do in order to deliver them nor caring how they only conform themselves with a single optional page, they are right up your alley!
>P.D: Yes, much sarcasm indeed. But then again, your choice, not gonna try and stop you nor convince you.
There's some more along the lines of this one. Niggers ruin everything.

Isekai is the cheap way teens insert muh vidya mechanics into their stories. Why bother on how priests have to pray for years to create a link with the gods and be able to perform miracles or about mages having to study and properly learn how to use a specific spell so they don't become a danger for everybody around. Casters are usually physically weak because they have to spend tons of time buried in books/praying/doing experiments to understand the inner workings of their school of magic. Just like how warrior classes have to train their asses off to develop proper combat senses and durable bodies so their int isn't the highest.
But why bother with all that shit if you can just go and have the isekai'd teenager faggot select any class (if not multiple ones at once) and learn stuff that would take him YEARS instantly via level up? Way to kill the fucking immersion if there was any to begin with.

The ones where the main character starts out with godlike powers do seem to be the worst. The best ones are where you see the guys progression, slowly that is, very rare to see.
Isekai also always seem to take place in a generic fantasy world, they never really take place in a more high tech or future world where the author has to be creative. People like power fantasies I guess, and the obvious harem to admire their power.
>>856242
Exactly, generic fantasy video game world. Pretty much the copy paste approach.

So I read about 10 chapters of Maou no Hajimekata - The Comic, and dropped it. It somehow fells like isekai, without being one. The MC hates humans because reasons, so he spends 70+ years looking preparing to be OP, then he finds a mana source, and rejuvenates and proceeds to be a mary sue, he his the best fucking, he brainwashes a heroine after saying he couldn't by doing not-brainwashing brainwashing, then he curb stomps everyone who opposes him and what made me drop it, the fact the he NTRs a party of 3 women and a man. I have no problem with edgy/evil characters, but the characters aren't likable or interesting in any way, and so are characters interactions, there's no tension, and the world is the usual unoriginal fantasy world, with out any interesting exploration of it's mechanics or whatever.
Also the sex scenes are shit and get really dull really fast.
TL:DR: Don't ready unless you like NTR, and that's it.

Marry Grave
Dark fantasy shounen, about a man traveling the world in search for materials used in a spell to revive his dead wife.
It's an actual adventure manga, the characters are likeable and it has decent world building.
The art is charming, and the paneling is well done. It clearly is partially inspired by Berserk, the violence is toned down a lot (afterall it's a shonen), but it still features good amounts of gore.
Also his wife used to be a really cute loli in her youth.
