Haven't read the LN, but I find the manga enjoyable enough and mind you, that's high praise coming from me, given how I hate isekai, so I can't comment on the LN and its design, but what in the name of all that is good is this monstrosity? The manga's artstyle is charming and the character design is damned cute. This is eye cancer, that's all.

The LN was shit, but it was enjoyable shit that you wanted to read the next chapter of up through exiting the dungeon (at least until the war). It mostly relied on its humour and the fact that Kumo-chan thought of the world as an extremely unbalanced game where everything could kill her in short order. It liked to point out the reason spider monsters die so much is because they don't act like spiders. It's about a cute spider-chan running for her life/getting beaten down every time she starts to succeed. The trailer tried to capture the humor and fell flat on its face from what I saw.

The issue is that the first part of the story (Which makes up like the first hundred, two hundredish chapters) is actually really, really good. You start to see a change around the magma layer, but it's still better-than-average even with the power creep and sudden OP skills that begin developing. As soon as it leaves the labyrinth though it takes a spiral into despair as if a different author took over the work, and it just gets shittier and shittier as you continue until it's a generic shitty isekai like all the rest.

I always thought that random japanese "writers" are good with premises, but going through a story properly, and writing something original is nearly impossible for them. There are exceptions, but they are called exceptions for a reason.

Everyone has a good idea for a premise, but only a very small minority of people have enough actual experience writing to develop one of those ideas into a real story, and by that point most of those people are more interested in writing bland ideas that they know are going to be successful so they can keep getting paid.

The difference in Japan is just that there are more avenues for an amateur writer to break into the industry and get some attention. The downside is they tend to get locked down by their first work that gets any recognition when they should be pumping all of the bad writing out of their system with lots of failed works until they get competent.

What kind of schedule are LN writers on? To go through a story properly, a writer absolutely needs downtime to take a step back and consider the whole, not to mention the fuckton of correcting and editing. If they're forced to churn out 10000 words a week or whatever, they will have tunnel vision and eventually completely lose sight of the structure. It's not really about talent, a constant stream of content that's immediately published is no way to write a story.

With manga, at least the need to draw art means there's ultimately not a lot of story to write every week, so the writer can be more careful, not to mention I imagine there's more immediate feedback in a manga team than for lone LN writer.

The manga spider was much more expressive and adorable, here she doesn't even look like a spider, it looks like fucking Gabumon wearing a spider suit or something, that "snout" is terrible. Depends on the writer, publisher and editor, considering that many light novels from the same publisher have entirely different schedules, one can assume that the author has quite a bit of an influence on the schedule.

Many WN authors have the same issues and they don't have any time constraints.

To be honest, I don't think this is even an issue unique to the Japanese writing industry.

Most long novel series that I have read got worse in the later volumes, it's just really hard to write a multiple thousand page long story and keep it interesting.
