It's mainly because their schools' roofs are actually available to walk over. Of course you're not having a comfy meal or conversation on a fucking gable tile roof, less alone a love confession

From what I've heard, short answer is no. Probably to keep them from jumping off. That might be where the magic of actually going onto the roof comes from.

In my euro town there was a case last year or so where an old lady was run over by a truck. However it was at a pedestrian crossing where the truck came to a full halt and the lady with her walker came from the side of the truck so the driver couldn't see her as she started walking on the road, so he ran her over by just moving forward a bit from a full halt.
In conclusion: All it takes is a fraction of a second where the pedestrian or driver are distracted or where one can't see the other or one or both are simply retarded.

It's anecdotal but from my experience in South Korea, the drivers are hellishly aggressive. Added to the fact that half of the back streets are two way single lane streets, which basically force you to play chicken every time you travel through them. It might contribute towards the whole "rushing driver yelling LOOK OUT!! *splat*" type plot events that happen so often.

I've actually been debating on whether or not to make a thread asking about the real life aspects of anime. Do the Japanese really do things because they might consider it lucky? For example, I remember a manga where the MC was desperate to win a particular gotchamon toy because some kindergarteners said that toy would bring people luck in their love lives. I have seen that aspect in manga a few times so I'm somewhat sure it's not just coincidence.

When someone blushes, blood rushes to their head, specifically the blood vessels near the surface of the skin dilate. Nosebleeds when seeing something lewd is a logical extreme of that. Its possible to do in practice, albeit very rare, if someone is prone to having weak capillaries in their nose and is blushing enough.

Japan is the only truly civilized non-western country, and that's largely because of deliberately trying to copy the west for the last 150 years. Second and third world countries are cultures of barbarians that have no regard for life or true courtesy for others. Courtesy for others is what keeps the road safe, otherwise it's no problem to crush childrens' heads under your tires and drive off if you think you can get away with it, which you can because it's a second/third world country and law enforcement only exists to beat up political dissidents and collect bribes for even the lowest level public servants.

Consider that eyes in anime are generally very much oversized, especially for works where this happens, and the surrounding face including the nose are undersized. Reminder that Japanese people, like anime people, have no noses. That really is the reason though, heavily restricted naval cavaties simply due to different facial structure means that nose bleeds due to excitement (and blood flow to the head due to that excitement) are somewhat common, or at the very least 'not unheard of', in Japan.
Incidentally no one seems to have answered the question in the OP about being allowed onto the school roof. In most buildings, including my school however long ago that was, I've been in with flat roofs roof access was usually restricted and behind locked doors. In the same sense that old 2-piece sukumizu still appear in anime sometimes or that people wear towels into onsen, I wouldn't be surprised if in modern day Japan access to school roofs is actually restricted. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has insight into this.

Truck-kun exists for a reason
Basically depending on the anime/manga, most arent down for a guy running out and stabbing someone in the heart ( though it does happen) due to how their culture is and japan being one of the safest places in the world. Their police jobs are practically worthless and the officers have nothing to do except for manning a small police box with a lost and found. A vehicle is a great way for a death to happen. Its abrupt, out of the ordinary for japanese deaths ( due to no cars) and it comes off as an accident. No one really MEANS to hit someone with their car. Thats just how japan rolls.
Now if we are to talk about other asian countries well most dont have cars and China I can see it being a frequent thing because A)Chinese are worse than animals (saw people run over a kid and NO ONE BATTED AN EYE) and B) They have more cars on the road and probably cant see through their smog.
