I'm watching Kenshin wandering samurai and i can't help but smile at the importance those four poor jobbers who were meant to be just cheap fights and the fact that they look just like that got later on.

Moving Side characters forward and shit.

It definitely wasn't the intention of the writer when he made them, just look at them.

Are there any other exemples? i just love jobbers in anime and manga and when something big happens because of them it lighten my heart.

Motherfucking Helmeppo.

This guy was a snotty brat that existed to antagonise Luffy and Zoro through his father. For whatever reason, Oda decided he should get taken in by Garp alongside Koby and become an absolute beast who'll play an important role in the plot as Koby's second. Did anyone expect this guy to go from pic 1 to pic 2? I don't think so.

Didn't expect it but I still am not sold on him being that important. Zoro handled him pretty handily in W7 and Coby has made a name for himself and I'm sure Helmeppo is probably stronger than your average marine by far at this point but in terms of relevant and relative strength in the New World I don't see him crossing swords with anyone noteworthy.

I'm kinda of hoping we see Sabo vs Coby in this Reverie arc though.

There was some foreshadowing of this waaaaay back in the manga which meant that Oda planned this for a pretty long time.

I knew he was going to show back up again, but never expected him to have this important of a role.

I don't know of any good jobbers. But this guy went from picture A, to picture B. Decors Weissmel, Brought out as a small time antagonist, then comes back as one of the most feared pilot.

Up until Part V it followed some basic rules but then Araki decided to screw it up on a fundamental level. Also some actions were really illogical back then but now it's all according to some keikaku that is explained a month after the last issue, i.e. the Plant Appraiser somehow figuring out that Joubin was the one who set the orchard on fire despite never knowing his Stand's power or having any reason to do so other than "dude he's fishy"

Or Joubin having an unnatural knowledge of chemistry and applying his powers to make oxygen out of bleach because Araki read it in a wiki dive
