The Bunbunmaru News is here!
Märchen Mädchen episode 11-12 are delayed until December.
Naka no Hito Genome [Jikkyouchuu] anime announced.
Stalker week 1 sales predicitions spring 2018:

Golden Kamuy 5032
Lupin the Third Part 5 4798
DxD Hero 4391

LotGH Die Neue These 3343
Steins Gate 0 3341
Amanchu! Advance 3183
Wotakoi 1998

I only listed anime that had at least one volume in the top 1000.
Funnily enough the LotGH remake doesn't do well with the fujoshi demographic.

The last of the "summary" movies airs in 3 days.
From the spoilers I have read for the second movie, it looks like the movies will be the new Code Geass canon.
There are quite a lot of rewrites in the second movie, for example (heavy spoiler) Shirley doesn't die.

The chance for a Comic Girls S2 is almost nonexistant.
As long as no wonders happens it will average somewhere around 2k, likely below that.
This is far too low for a second season, especially for a Kirara moe anime.

Mori Kanon, senior member of Alice Juban and Kamen Joshi, announced her retirement from the groups back in February. Her retirement will be sometime this Summer.
After she leaves, there will be only 4 legacy members left in Alice Juban.
Her translated graduation announcement is below:
>For all my fans who always support me, I have an important announcement.
>I have decided to retire from Alice Project and graduate from Alice Juban, as well as Kamen Joshi.
>In December of 2010, I joined Alice Project, I first stood on stage 2/27/2011, and the same year on 8/17, Alice Juban was formed.
>In 2013, Kamen Joshi was formed and the breadth of my activities has increasingly expanded.
>During this period of seven years, there have been peaks and valleys and truly a lot of things have happened.
>I’ve had lives every day of course, I’ve had performances all over Japan, I’ve even had lives overseas, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve gotten angry, I’ve been troubled, every day has been richly shining and sparkling. These have been seven tumultuous years I recklessly dashed through.
>Because of my fresh and stimulating television, gravure, and modeling jobs, it’s like I’ve been able to discover a new self and they have been fun jobs that I loved.
>By no means has it been a level road, but my fickle self hasn’t abandoned anything midway. Because I love Alice Juban and because of all the fans that have been there cheering me on, I’ve been able to continue on for a long time and I’ve been able to make it to this point.
>From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.
>The new members I’ve wished for have joined and with the start of a new Kamen Joshi and Alice Juban, I’ve determined it’s my chance to graduate.
>After this, I will try my best on a different path than I have walked until now.
>I think I have done as much as I can do here.
>I expect to graduate sometime around summer.
>It still feels too early, but because the countdown has already started and the time I have left is limited, as an idol and as Kanon Mori I want to continue shining until the very end, so until the very end, please support me with all your strength!
>And now, I’d like to convey my feelings of gratitude one by one to everyone who has been fond of me or supported me even temporarily during these seven years so if you could come see me even once before I graduate, I will be happy.
>I can’t go visit you, so I beg you to please consider it.
>Thank you very much for reading this blog until the end.
>See ya.

Kamen Joshi/Steam Girls member and huge Saitama Seibu Lions fan, Tomoka Igari, suffered a serious injury on April 11 of this year when a signboard collapsed and fell on her due to harsh winds. She was rushed to the hospital and required immediate surgery.
She is now hospitalized in the general ward and will stay there for about three more months. Her injuries include a spinal cord injury that has paralyzed both of her legs. She will likely never be able to use them again.
No.829025
>>829023
She gave a statement about her situation in her blog:
>To All My Precious Fans
>It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?
>It’s Tomoka Igari.
>I’m very sorry for making many of you worry at this time.
>I had an accident where a signboard that collapsed because of the strong wind fell on me on 4/11.
>The winds were strong that day. I heard that it was at the level that the strong winds became news in many places in Japan.
>I was walking like I usually do on the sidewalk.
>Suddenly, strong winds blew and a building’s large signboard collapsed.
>The signboard was too big, so I couldn’t avoid it.
>I realized that I was pinned underneath the signboard.
>I mustered up all my strength and called out, “Help!”
>That moment was at any rate painful and I wanted to quickly feel at ease.
>After that, I think some things happened immediately.
>A passerby lifted up the signboard and an ambulance transported me away.
>I was told later that it seems that the signboard covered the entire area of the building’s sidewalk.
>After that, I received an emergency surgery and was hospitalized in the ICU.
>Afterwards, I moved into the HCU and currently, I am hospitalized in the general ward.
>My main injuries are,
<Eyelid lacerations
<A blow to the head
<Bone fractures (legs, ribs, thoracic vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae)
>And,
<Injury to my spinal cord
>This resulted in both of my legs being paralyzed.
>In regards to me walking, of course, my legs can no longer move using my own strength.
>The likelihood of recovery is extremely low and from now on, it’s necessary that I live my daily life in a wheelchair.
>My physical condition and injuries have gotten better little by little and I can now independently use my wheelchair and am striving to improve in rehabilitation every day.
>It’s estimated that I will be discharged from the hospital in about three months.
>To start with, I wanted to quickly tell all of you who were worrying about me throughout this whole time, “I’m okay!” I was impatient as the days continued.
>But despite receiving the information and grasping the situation, the appropriate time passed.
>How can I convey such things, I wonder?
>Even though I accepted it over time, when I suddenly use the words “spinal cord injury”, won’t I immediately make everyone who’s been cheering for me sad…?
>It took time to accept it myself, I didn’t know what to tell the fans, and when I thought about it, I couldn’t put sentences together and this information has become delayed.
>I’m sorry.
No.829026
>>829025
>I think that there are certainly a lot of things I don’t know yet in regards to my daily life from now on with both legs paralyzed.
>The explanation from my attending physician was,
>“There are individual differences with sensation coming back to legs, so I can’t say anything. At any rate, try your best in rehabilitation”.
>I was ignorant about spinal cord injuries and,
>“I wonder how many months it’ll take to recover?”
>“I want to return to the stage smiling and see everyone!”
>“If I get the chance to throw the first pitch again, next time they’ll be able to catch the ball without it bouncing for sure!”
>I thought about such things while I was in bed.
>I couldn’t see a future where my legs didn’t move.
>Several days after the surgery, I talked with my father and my older sister.
<Sister: “If you’ve recovered, let’s go together to Met Life Dome!”
<Dad: “Your dad wants to go with you to Koshien.”
<Me: “I wonder if I’ll recover to the point that I can throw the first pitch again.”
<Dad: “You can still throw from a wheelchair, can’t you?”
<Me: “Ehh? No way! I want to recover and throw the first pitch!”
<Dad: “Well, for now let’s do our best in rehabilitation.”
>I also talked to a psychiatrist about many things.
>For a patient who suffers spinal cord injuries and can’t move their legs anymore, it seems that a psychiatrist is there for them along with their attending physician.
>I think that my family, Kamen Joshi staff, and the doctors were very careful to not shock me.
>After moving to the HCU, I gradually realized that the situation was different than I thought from the reactions and remarks around me.
>On that day, it was time for me to meet with my mother and older brother.
>Knowing the truth, I may have been deeply shocked.
>However, I resolved myself to ask questions.
<Me: “The possibility of my legs never recovering is high?”
<Mom: “……Yes.”
<Me: “You hid it from me?”
<Brother: “Because first you needed to go back to being healthy enough to live.”
<Me: “Is that so.”
<Mom: “But the doctor said that if you try your hardest in rehabilitation, your legs could miraculously move again. Believe in that and let’s do our best.”
>I’m not particularly good at singing or dancing, but when I stand on the stage, perform lives, and see everyone having fun and smiling, because of that, I start to smile…
>It’s because of all of the fans that I could become the idol Tomoka Igari.
>I love those times.
>So of course,
>I’m aiming to return to the stage.
>But knowing the truth…
>“The time you can’t sing and dance = graduation”
>I had never thought of it and I couldn’t imagine the Tomoka Igari who couldn’t dance.
>Is there demand for me in such a state?
>What can I do?
>I was in despair.
>Until the accident, I thought that I’d always be able to walk normally and dance.
>I didn’t imagine that suddenly my legs wouldn’t be able to move freely and would feel like they weren’t mine.
>But strangely, I never once came to the idea that I’d have to quit my activities with Kamen Joshi.
>When I thought about what I wanted to do in the future, I was naturally imagining my activities as Tomoka Igari in a wheelchair.
>I had the impression that everyone around me was supporting me.
>“Being in a wheelchair, you can make people happy, give them joy, and become someone’s hope.”
>“You’re a girl that can make people have fun and be happy, so I’ll be glad if you can continue that in any form.”
>Those were the words from my family.
>“Let’s go lots of places together in your wheelchair! Let’s have lots of good times together! Even when we become old!”
>Those were the words from my friend.
>“With your cheerfulness, please cheer up everyone around you that’s working hard in rehabilitation. Please become everyone’s light.”
>Those were the words from my doctor.
>“All of us staff members feel like we’re going to always work together with you. If we can do anything for you, please let us know.”
>Those were the words from Kamen Joshi’s staff.
>“We’ll wait however long it takes. We’ll keep having exciting lives so that you can return at any time!”
>Those were the words from the other Kamen Joshi members.

>I was able to read tweets of support under the hashtag #いがともちゃんがんばれ (#Igatomo-chan, do your best).
>I think there were definitely a lot of supportive and worried voices even among those who didn’t use the hashtag.
>I also received many letters.
>Everyone’s warmth saved me many times.
>At times when I was alone at night and became anxious, everyone’s words truly saved me.
>Your feelings all definitely reached me.
>From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.
>At important milestones, I often say,
>“I want to become a ray of hope.”
>Even now, these feelings haven’t changed.
>My legs can no longer move, but I have many things I want to do in my wheelchair.
>I want to write lyrics for Kamen Joshi songs.
>I want to do speaking work, such as radio, lectures, and chairing events.
>I want to continue supporting the Saitama Seibu Lions as long as I live and do baseball work.
>To preserve what happened in the accident, I’d like to write a book.
>The list is endless.
>The direction that I’ve taken up until now will change, but the feeling of wanting to transmit something will not change one bit.
>And finally, of course, if “God’s being” or a “miracle” comes into play and my legs work like they did before, I want to dance on stage as an idol.
>Fortunately, there are a lot of people waiting for me.
>This is my greatest encouragement.
>It may take time.
>It may be impossible for things to be like they were before.
>But I definitely want to be healthy, see everyone again, and say “Long time no see!” with a smile.
>The day of the accident, I never expected that I would experience such things.
>I’d imagine my family, friends, Kamen Joshi’s staff members, the other Kamen Joshi members, all of my fans, no one expected that I would experience such things.
>That day, I was walking by chance on the sidewalk at that time, by chance I was in front of a big signboard, a special strong wind blew, and the signboard fell on me.
>If before arriving at the signboard, I had to retie my shoelaces, someone called me on the phone and I stopped walking to talk, I got thirsty and bought a drink at a vending machine, or anything happened that caused me to get there merely a few seconds later, I wouldn’t have had the accident.
>I know that if none of these things happen, the various chances pile up and both my legs no longer move.
>However, my life was saved.
>According to a witness’s story, it was an awful situation and I should be thankful that even my life was saved.
>I’m alive.
>I believe that this alone is a gift from God that cannot be replaced by anything.
I was given a trial to that extent, but I surely wasn’t given a trial that I couldn’t overcome.
>In TV dramas or movies, you often hear the words, “We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, so let’s cherish the present”.
Up until this point, I intended to cherish those words, but now I really agree with them.
>So whatever happens from now on, I’m going to look up like a sunflower, have a fun and happy life, and go forward.
And I want to live respecting and valuing every day.
>I’m looking forward.
>Don’t worry anymore.
>From now on, please continue to watch over me.
>And if we can walk together, I’ll be happy.
>Now and always, thank you for your support.

They were the first Chika Idol group ever to get #1 on Oricon back in 2015 with Genkidane. Immediately after, there was a string of unrelated retirements all down the line in Kamen Joshi, leaving only 5 members left in Alice Juban.

Enoha Girls Member, Honoka Ootomo, took her own life at age 16 on March 21 of this year.
Enoha Girls was a local Idol group that tried to introduce Ehime Prefecture and get people interested in farming. The group was never well known, but it did have fans, especially the locals who described Honoka as
>a simple and innocent girl with a calming, illuminating smile.
>like a mini sun for those around her who was very talented at cheering people up and quickly brightened her surroundings.
There has been no official statement regarding her suicide, but a friend of hers from school said that prior to the incident, Honoka was depressed over being "betrayed by the Enoha Girls company president."
Rumors have surfaced that she was abused by her manager.
Her interests included AKB48, Momoiro Clover Z, avocados, Monster Hunter, Initial D, Tekken, Osomatsu-san, Nanatsu no Taizai, and yume kawaii fashion.

Every system that holds power, no matter how well intentioned or staffed by good people, will eventually be subverted and taken over by power hungry tyrants. Doesn't really help that idol industries usually aren't really well intentioned in the first place. Information is always incomplete so there's always room for error and dysfunction. Only way to solve it is to go full TANG.
I wonder if Japan's traditional culture revolving around transience allows them to be more tolerant of these ultra rigid institutions.

I don't think so, modern Kyoani doesn't work like a normal studio.
Kyoani heads the production committee, meaning they get the large share of the anime revenue.
This isn't a model which is attractive for the publisher and the author of the source material.
That's the reason why modern Kyoani adapts all their shitty inhouse light novels.
Koe no Katachi and Maid Dragon are rare exceptions in which Kyoani got the rights for an adaptation (likely paying something).

This was an obvious example of the power the Chinese market has, this entire event will likely lead to Japanese publishers being more considerate of Chinese sensibilities.
Personally I see this as a negative trend, anime should remain primarly focused on a Japanese audience.

In a briefing with investors Toei answered a question regarding the new planned Digimon anime.
Q: It seems the Digimon series has a new project in the works; could you share with us any plans that you have for the project, at least what you are allowed to share?
A: All 6 parts of Digimon Adventure tri. have now been screened in theaters. By screening this movie, which is primarily aimed at both male and female audiences in their 20s, on a smaller scale in about 15-20 theaters, we were able to make this project a success. The new project will, in addition to this core audience, also be aimed at a slightly wider audience.

Financially troubled yakuza reduced to stealing watermelons
https://archive.fo/8nxyi
>Due to ever-tougher enforcement of laws and ordinances aimed at members of designated criminal syndicates, Japan's yakuza have fallen upon hard times. How hard? For the first time since statistics began being kept, reports Spa! (June 26), the total number of gang members in the country dropped below the 20,000 figure.
>On May 28, quasi-official broadcaster NHK went so far as to air an installment of its "Close-up Gendai Plus" evening news program titled "Impoverished Gangs."
>"Yakuza who have been hurting financially have been tying up with han-gure (members of non-designated crime groups, such as hot-rod gangs)," a retired gang leader from the Tokai region commented after seeing the NHK program. "But arrangements like those are only found in the big cities like Tokyo and Osaka. The yakuza in rural areas don't have other groups to fall back on for income. Of course, there are groups that manage to do all right by shamelessly going to extremes without any qualms at all."
>"Still, I was surprised when a fellow gang member told me he's been pilfering from farms," he related.
>In this particular instance, the 37-year-old gangster, named Uemura (a pseudonym), began stealing agricultural produce from about three years ago. As his colleague tells it, "Up to then he had been overseeing operations of food carts at local shrine festivals or involved in various construction work. But the authorities began putting pressure on the shrines and construction companies shun any ties with yakuza.
>"Anyway he got into stealing watermelons. During the daytime, he would send out younger gang members to case out promising patches, and then they'd return at night to see what sort of security, if any, was in place. Then they'd hit the ones that didn't have tight security.
>"But even if they stole 100 melons, the most they could get for them was only about 300,000 yen. The damn things were heavy, and the ones that got damaged were unsellable. On top of that, while in the fields they'd get stung unmercifully by swarms of mosquitos. My former mate later told me, 'Okay, next time we'll be targeting melons and tomatoes.'"
>Last summer, however, an incident occurred. As the gangster's colleague related, "The farmers formed a roving neighborhood watch group that made the rounds at night. Some houses found ways to block off cars to keep them from driving away. The other guys I work with took off, but they grabbed me and five of them really clobbered me. Then when they saw I was tattooed they said, 'What? You're a yakuza?' I refused to tell them my name or gang affiliation, because having that come out would create even more trouble. The posse members weren't looking for trouble either, so they made me promise I would never do it again, and then sent me on my way with two watermelons."

>The official website for the BanG Dream! announced some troubling news recently. Satomi Akesaka will graduate from the franchise’s Roselia band at the Roselia Fan Meeting 2018 event at the Culttz Kawasaki venue on September 17.
>Akesaka’s agency Amuleto revealed she will be leaving due to sudden hearing loss which doctors diagnosed her with. The condition would make it difficult for her to continue performing and rehearsing with the band. Akesaka will still be able to continue her voice acting career outside of the BanG Dream! franchise.
>Satomi Akesaka voiced Rinko Shirokane in the franchise, the timid keyboardist of Roselia. The company will recast Rinko Shirokane, including for the BanG Dream! Girls Band Party mobile game. The character’s new voice will be announced as soon as the company makes a decision.
>Amuleto reported that Ms. Akesaka experienced sudden hearing loss twice in March. She was able to recover from those incidents with early treatments, but doctors stated it would be difficult for her to continue performing without danger of recurrence.
>With this news, two of the five original members of Roselia will now be replaced with new performers. Yurika Endo, the original voice behind Lisa Imai, retired from the entertainment industry in May due to worsening health. Yuki Nakashima was recast as Lisa Imai.

Mahou Shoujo Tokushuusen Asuka anime announced for winter 2019.
I've read the scanlation, and personally I've found the manga enjoyable.
The manga is set some years after the first "magical war", in which monsters from another world invaded Earth.
Mahou shoujo appeared and won the war for humanity, now years after the war, magical terrorism is on the rise and the main characters need to deal with it.
A thing that it does quite well is that it isn't too Japan centric, from what I've read it looks like the other countries do actually matter.

Most countries don't have "case law" as in the US. This means that 99% of time there is a case the judge gets some directions from the law like "whoever caused the accident is responsible for the damage" or "murderers go to jail".
Then the judge considers if this is the case (you caused the accident, or are in fact a murderer) and the judgement must be spoken. They also get to decide (again: with restrictions and guidelines by the law) what punishment must be applied.
This means that in 99% of the cases it's up to the judge to decide if something is child porn or just a loli image. Of course there are laws that state that 2D images of characters is child porn, or not, but in general the judges get to decide what is and what isn't "pornographic".
While this is cool, because it means that the actual contents of the law matter more than some random case some 500 years ago, or the spelling of a word in some guideline published by some NGO, it also means that you can end up with a judge who has a personal agenda and fucks you over. You can still appeal to a higher court though.
I still prefer this system, simply because it means that noone gets to weasel out of something simply because they can pull some random ass case out of some archive and make some stupid comparisons. If you fucked up, and the prosecution can provide proof that you fucked up, you are going to get punished.

>Renowned mecha animator, Kunihiro Abe, died last Wednesday from a disease not specified. His death was announced by his wife Ayumi Abe and daughter via their Twitter accounts. He was 50 years old. Shown is the final illustration done by Abe, which was given to his daughter during her birthday this July. It was his favorite, too.
>Kunihiro Abe was well-known for his work with mecha animation, especially with Sunrise's Gundam franchise, among many other projects throughout his career. Fellow animator and director, Kou Matsuo, said in a statement that Abe possessed the exceptional skill to draw both mecha and human character, allowing the addition of diverse and dynamic scenes in their projects. The most notable of which is during the finale of the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation - Heir to the Stars, where Abe was able to animate realistic parachute physics upon a bluff request by director Yoshiyuki Tomino.

Really, I can't tell what the funniest part of this is:
They proclaim it as masterpiece storytelling only made possible through the magical fusion of east and west, but it's just a bottom of the barrel mahou shoujo plot. Some girls go to a magic school to become protectors of their homeland. Really groundbreaking stuff. It's like someone at Crunchyroll saw the funding Little Witch Academia got on this side of the Pacific and said, "we can do that," at which point they cargo culted the whole thing right down to the premise and setting of the show and the proud insistence upon hand-drawn animation.
They boost their anime cred by saying they split their work between Burbank and Tokyo, but judging by other works of this nature (i.e. western trash made by Calarts grads), the American team will make some lazy animatics and hand it off to Japanese team to do all the hard animation work for a fraction of the cost.
They brag about their female staffing knowing full well that they will be able to erase all criticism for their inevitable failure with it, but Japan manages to do just fine with women in senior roles in anime production and nobody complains about it because they're not talentless, psycho cunts.
I think what really takes the cake is the fact that their direct business competitor's social media account is giving them ass pats for it. This is the biggest warning signal you can possibly send as a business. Reminder that Funimation and Crunchyroll are owned by AT&T and Warner Bros, respectively. It should be no surprise that they act buddy-buddy.

The girls are perfectly fine and cute, and it's a fucking shame that I'll never see Mai or the tech girl's autistic rants again. But the voice acting was shoddy at times, the animation sloppy and it tried to be Madoka but felt by-the-numbers. The episode where they break down with Mai being an attention whore and tech girl being pushed away due to being autistic about what she liked were good episodes, but the worst thing to me was that there wasn't a real sense of danger most of the time.
