W-what happened /a/?

How were studios at that time capable of pumping out so much anime without going bankrupt in the process?

They made more money? Remember making anime is a business and if the money is falling from the sky like it was back then everyone will want to collect and do whatever they can to get as much as possible.

>How were studios at that time capable of pumping out so much anime without going bankrupt in the process?

Studios usually pay only a miniscule ammount of the funds to create an anime, in some cases nothing at all.

Anime is funded by large production companies (Aniplex, Kadokawa, Pony Canyon, etc.) who poll there money together with other companies (music, game, source publisher, etc.), this creates the production committee.

There's also the fact that the anime industry collapsed 2006/2007, which lead to production committees funding safer anime (adaptations, 1 cour instead of 2).

>They made more money?

That's actually not true. The anime industry is more successful than it ever has been, but there's a shortage of animators. This limits the number and length of anime productions.

>a shortage of animators

Didn't know that. Sounds like a good time to be a drawfag. It seems revenue took off starting in 2013. Inflation, production costs rising, etc. could all explain the continued revenue increase. It is not like there are suddenly a lot more buyers so something has to provide the industry income. Do you know why/how revenue has grown so much recently?

Overseas revenue, largely China.

Maybe they need more propaganda for more animators.

Maybe we'll see Shirobako S2 after all!

I can hope, can't I?

Mobage and China will be the death of this industry.

Will hand drawn animation exist in 10 years?

Still no season 2 but they announced a movie

Some will critique otaku on a lot of things but you can at least expect them to be fairly consistent in what they will like in an anime and will make them want to buy your product. As long as that is the case companies will mainly deliver on those tastes. Other than the occasional CG show that appears anime will probably be made in a similar style as it is today.

Believe it or not. But anime is flourishing right now, studios get bigger and new studios get started. It is just the way it is.

>But anime is flourishing right now, studios get bigger and new studios get started

Not entirely true, eh. Normalfags are creeping into anime giving it a temporary boost in revenue. It doesn't mean the anime produced now is at an all-time high in terms of quality.

>>826262

Hand drawn will be dinosaur'd by 2030, not if by the cheaper alternatives of CG but the lack of animators available as >>826194 points out.

>doesn't mean current productions are at an all time high in terms of quality

this, the last show I can honestly call high quality would be flip flappers, mob psycho 100 (best animation in years), maybe boku no hero. Seriously, over 20 fucking years and they can't outshine LOTGH, Serial Experiments Lain or Cowboy Bebop, absolutely fucking pathetic.

>>826262

if there's a demand for yuasa style shows then maybe.

It would be if the pay and the hours wasn't still shit.
