It was very frustrating. There was a build-up over about two episodes for Ruby and they botched and muddled the message and her arc. I could have forgiven the Saint Snow sister joining her for the song since they were going for a younger sister + older sister connection theme, but then all of Aqours comes out singing with them and Ruby got lost in the other members, the one character that should have been the main focus. It's a massive oversight for something that should have been fairly obvious. If it was done maliciously it's distasteful for Sunrise to act so petty to people who liked Ruby. Every member of µ's got treated with a nice character arc, regardless of their individual popularity.

It really should've just been mostly focused on Chika wanting to be like µ's part 2 and then slowly growing out of her desire to be less like them and more like her own identity. And I know a part of that was there, but it really seemed like they were focusing far too much on saving the school, and the fact that they stretched it out throughout its entire run compared to the first series where it was contained in the first half did far more harm than good.
There were plenty of good ideas (like having the rivals having a far bigger role), but it felt like the potential was intentionally sabotaged because they were too afraid to be risky for the sake of otaku and yuribucks does anybody find it a bit suspicious that the Sunshine anime seemed to erase any presence of males? at least the first anime had males show up as nameless background characters. makes you really think

You can call it bad or lazy writing, but the rehash is most likely intentional for the theme of Sunshine. There's straight 1:1 scenes between Sunshine and the first SIP. The difference is that Aqours ends up fucking up where µ's succeeded.

She came to that realization by the end of the first season. Most of s2 is the character episodes for the girls in-between coming to terms with the fact they are going to lose the school and need to make their own ending to their story, and it isn't as nice or as perfect as µ's was.

The scene for scene rehashes didn't really bother me honestly. I think it's just that I was never really a huge fan of the save the school plot to begin with. Anyone who thinks they need to spend money on it is a chump and a sucker. The time that gets wasted on the game is a bigger concern.
Aquors can't beat u's, but they have their own charm, I still like them. I'll reserve judgement on the overall franchise for PDP to launch, but I hope they try to break away from the current formula a little bit. Not sure if I'll really enjoy them as much though, some of them seem like they'll get really irritating really fast.
