People don't like remakes, even if it was only a "remake" for the first film and then went increasingly off the rails. Then they started disliking it because it wasn't the same as the series, because they can't make up their fucking minds.

People think it makes them look smart if they dislike anything popular.

People don't understand that NGE was supposed to be self-deprecating of the genre even from the very beginning, and has now turned to being self-deprecating of itself (building upon the implied looping nature of the series-End-Rebuild cycle), and so they think it's just Anno wanking himself off.

People don't understand that 3.0 was meant to be confusing and nonsensical, because YOU ARE SHINJI.

I agree with Anno on this one. His fans are total shit.

Because it's shit, whereas the original is loved and/or hated by many. Even if someone doesn't like it, they cannot deny the amazing direction and animation. In any case, people remember the original, and Rebuilds just seem like weird fanfiction .

The hate grows more when you hear that Rebuild is a lot of newfags' start into the series, without ever having experienced the Tumbling Down of EoE.

I thought the first two were totally unneeded remakes of something that holds up just fine, with added fanservice that didn't really feel appropriate.

I didn't hate them. I just struggle to understand why they were made, and who they were for.

The third one threw such a curveball, I actually ended up enjoying it the most. I was intrigued by it, whereas the first two just felt like going through the motions, playing it safe to a boring degree. I don't know that I'd say it was good, but it was something.

Animation and drawing inferior to the serie's first half and widely inferior to EoE. Full of pig disgusting CGI and entirely digital workflow unlike the painted background + cels of the aforementioned works.

And the 3rd is a bad joke.

I was okay with the second movie because it just felt like fanservice the movie with characters being naked a lot more and just characters interacting more, and the ending scenes were pretty great.

Pink plug suit glasses bitch was kind of stupid and unnecessary. Like literally unnecessary in the sense that she was some literally why that didn't fucking do anything and was just present for I don't even know what reason and served no purpose for anything but kept getting all this screentime.

Otherwise I thought they were fine.

This. The original is a beautifully animated and the color work is fantastic. This all done on a rather low budget which shows how amazing a show can turn out if the animators are passionate about it. I simply do not like the rebuilds because the art is inferior to the original (even though the Rebuilds don't look terrible, they are competing against something far better).

There where some bits of the rebuilds that I think were actually pretty good, like the no-homo piano or added screen time for characters like Rei; but all of that seems like nothing compared to how most of the show was changed for worse (e.g. Kaworu's death, which is way more impactful in the original series), new completely unnecessary shit like Marie, the over-use of CGI and changes in the sound effects that don't stand up to the original scenes.

I liked the Utada Hikaru song. That's about it.

A lot of the cooler scenes just don't look as good. Like in the original series, my favorite fight is against the orbital drop angel, with Eva01 running being something I found really cool originally.

In the movies, it just looks flat even though they made it look somewhat more impressive with the aftereffects of the Eva's passing.
