This is the first anime i've actually hated. The worst i ever said about an anime was that it's shit and i'm not watching it, but not outright hate.

I stopped before the beach episode, then dropped it after hearig all the bullshit that happened. Yet I still keep seeing these threads and coming back in them to be let down even further. Franxx is both a let down and shit, yet it keeps twisting the fucking knife to become more shit with pretty much each episode. More than half is anime is stupid teenage drama from what we've seen with only a handful of decent episodes. You know, the ones where they actually ride the fucking mecha.

Some anon I said it in that thread and I will say it again, she, as a woman stamen needs an authoritative/assertive figure to control her during fights. Mitsuru was too introvert to do that, and was mostly thinking about sucking Hiro's cock instead of giving her the D. It's a good thing this episode was so well directed, because it really distracts from how stupid everything was. Need to destroy an enemy unit? Why launch missiles contain nukes when you can have your pilots walk up to them and suicide bomb them instead, thus wasting valuable parasites/Franxxes? Lets have one of our plantations do a suicide attack as well, because why the hell not? I liked the part where Hiro could suddenly ride with Ichigo, even though this never worked before until it needed to for plot. And Ichigo just gives up on him and lets him go to 002 even though this means he's going to turn into a monster, sacrificing character to plot. Also, Goro leaves the Delphinium to be picked up by the Argentea, meaning that Ichigo won't be able to pilot once Hiro leaves the Delphinium, and also that the Argentea has to somehow protect Goro despite being surrounded by enemies on all sides. But wait, the Delphinium is still moving after Hiro leaves, Miku must have chucked Goro right back in when the camera wasn't looking. Hiro and 002 are the worst characters in this show and we're no doubt supposed to feel happy for them when they're shouting jubilantly at each other or something, well the scene was done very well from a technical perspective I couldn't care much that these two have feelings for each other. Hiro especially is a terrible protagonist, boring and bland and mostly concerned with getting together with this one girl. What does he have going for him outside of that? He wants to challenge the system and gave everyone names, he's a popular guy. 002 meanwhile has acted like a raging bitch to everyone but Hiro whom she was trying to saurify, so still a bitch, but at least they gave her a backstory that explains why she's the way she is. There's no excuse for Hiro, hopefully he will improve when he turns into an ogre. Naturally he and 002's magical lovehax save the day, but then what a twist, an even bigger boss was lurking below, it annihilates plantation 13 but conveniently misses the part where people live plus the pilots. Also, in the least surprising twist of all time klaxosaurs are people.

I'm enjoying this show quite a lot, it's very well produced and fun to watch the drama and antics unfold. But the writing could stand to be a bit less retarded.

This episode redeemed the last for sure. While the last episode was a rage-inducing strawberry parfait making blendfest, this one was a quickly paced get-shit-down lovefest. I enjoyed the references, from the KLK style transformation for red sterelizia, to how the big dumb boat klax reminded me of Zeruel from Ep19 of Eva. You know the part where he busts into HQ and stares down Misato before Shinji busts through a wall to beat the crap out of him? That's what I was reminded of here.

I am not sure if this the type of anime that is better to be watched all at once/at least one episode per day, or to watch it as it airs. On one hand, if you watch it all at once, the drama wouldn't be as bad, as it doesn't have time to set in, because you will be to busy watching the next episode. Also the cliffhanger episodes, won't be as disappointing/aggravating if you immediately watch the next one. On the other hand, if you watch it as it airs all the drama and bad writing has time to set in, and you start to ask all sorts of questions, as you wait for the new episode to air, but you do get to discuss it with /a/ and speculate on what will happen next/partake in the creation of all the OC, which honestly is more entertaining than the anime itself.

This is obviously because Hiro regained his memories and is now more or less back to his old self mentally. He was much more passive and restrained person in the initial episodes. In the flashback the scientists say that after consuming the blood and memory wipe procedures he will be useless. Hiro also made it through OniAIDS, which likely influenced the being useless due to oni blood situation.

Besides, pilots do not have to be 100% in synch to ride together. Bare minimum of being above 50% is all that is needed to get the robot moving.

The romance is the only remotely redeeming quality of this series, and it's very messy. The worldbuilding is so terribly developed and executed it might as well have been wiped from the story, leaving DitF to remain the highschool teen drama that it is at heart. Although I do agree, on paper it was fairly unique, interesting, and had potential.

I am happy that Miku remains okay, and pleased that my early prediction of the plantations being the matrix may be at least partially true.

I got the translation from 2 different anons, one from the anon here and an other posted on 4chan.

My typesetter friend then used both translations to make it sound good and did the Onomatopoeia himself.

The end result is that the one I posted reads better then yours. But don't make that stop you from continueing yourself, I'm mostly dependant on people online to deliver translations whilst you can do both translating and typesetting.

It's had issues with pacing but honestly so far I've found the attention to detail, structure, and symbolism pretty impressive. You've just got to look deeper than the surface level of "uhh so what's the plot so far".

Also it's much better upon rewatch when things start sliding into place and you pick up on all the hints, details, references, and POTTERY!!! that's going on. And it helps with the horrendous early pacing.
