And it's even funnier considering how DB and by extension other shonen aped up Kinnikuman, particularly the power levels and friendship power (which is literally an actual power, by name) with none of the charm or even writing to back it up. For example in Kinnikuman's current run (since 2011) the main character has only had two matches and the final match in the first arc didn't even involve him; it was Akuma Shogun VS The Man/Choujin Enma and, while the story tangentially involves him, it's given a good deal of side characters the chance to shine, even the more uncommon ones.
Compare to DBS where they tease with things like Boo training and getting fit only to not use him because he fell asleep, and Roshi and 17 being in the team only to have Goku Blanco overpower everything in the end. The worst thing is, aside from the new color and a new breach in power levels DBS doesn't do anything interesting with those new powers. No new techniques, no distinct fighting styles, not even retradings to old moves aside from the Super Cyan Kaioh-Ken or whatever.
