I feel like there's too large of an influx with new characters, and no time to get invested in any of them. It's good for world building but terrible for character development.

I also feel like the story would just hurry up and move along instead of dragging in the mud. There's only 13 episodes and we're at the half way mark with nothing to show for it other than character exposition, and a mini arc for Sebas.

What does Ains Ooal Gown even want anyway? He starts by saying he wants to help others who are trapped in this world from Yggrasil, but now he's gung-ho about world domination. I don't like these off screen changes in attitude that he had. He's a completely different person than in season one.

This is just all too difficult to follow. If they could focus on resolving existing loose ends rather than creating more, that'd be great. Season one made me fall in love and season 2 is a giant dissapointment so far. What a waste of fucking time.

Not exactly. And you spoilering shit from 1st episode. Its not liek Ainz want to conquer the world at the same time he is not opposed to the idea at all. Honestly, I wish they would have just done OVAs or 45 minute episodes for volumes 4, 5, 7, and 8, and then focused the budget/episode time on 6, and finished up the second season with volume 9 with the last scene being the enthronement of Ainz in E-Rantel. It's not that 4/5/7/8 aren't good, but if they had done that, we might have had a chance at a third season for all the delicious stuff that happens in volume 10 onwards. Instead I've just been popping into the /a/ threads, seeing how shit the anime version of the series has become, and generally haven't had much desire to actually watch the anime past the lizard shit that's sort of the turning point to keep out newfags.

>>804443

Close.

The banner on the wall was Momonga's old emblem, and one she tore down and defaced was the guild emblem of the Ainz Ooal Gown, which Ainz took as his own at the same time as the name. Albedo is still madly in love with him even while he uses the name Ainz, but she has come to hate the rest of the 41 for abandoning Momonga and Nazarick. She has privately sworn to ensure that Ainz remains the sole absolute ruler of Nazarick, and that she will destroy anyone who tries to oppose him. What she was specifically annoyed at in that scene was they were defending the name of Ainz Ooal Gown, and she disliked that in order to defend the name of her lover she also had to defend the name of those she detested.

The marriage thing is a cultural/legal thing in Asian nobility (not European) so it's a bit complicated to understand for us at a glance but probably not for nips.

So having his son marrying a royal princess definitely improve the social status of Raeven house. So far so good.

However by being of royal blood Renner offspring while far from the succession, would be pretender to the throne (especially since in Asia which largely follow Khanates rules of succession which were never really set, unlike in Europe with the early partible inheritance or later with the primogeniture inheritance system), to avoid that the king can include a clause in the wedding that the offspring of the new "branch family" cannot inherit at all (which is something that sometime was done to "kill" noble families lineage. The lord/king/emperor give you one of his daughter so you can't say no because it's a great honor and your status is raised to the highest possible, but it will only last for one generation and after that your house will disappear).

However since Raeven only has one boy, for the thing to not be seen as a royal punishment of Raeven, that boy would still need an heir for the Raeven family which he would have with a mistress (and would therefore inherit the prestige, wealth and influence of the Raeven house BUT wouldn't have any claim to the throne), which would also be a clause in the marriage.

So basically what she propose is a very good deal for Raeven which would incontestably become the most powerful noble in the kingdom and for the prince because princesses are a hassle for royalty since she can pop rivals claimants from her loins.

Overlord was a web novel before it was a light novel. It's just that the light novel pretty closely follows the web novel, except with the addition of Albedo (she didn't exist in the WN) and the removal of a lot of sex scenes/other lewd scenarios present in the WN. Think of the WN as Maruyama's rough draft made while drunk one night, and the LN as Maruyama realizing he could make money if he made it better quality and removed the NSFW bits.

Define pretty close. Because most LN that were WN are just a clean up with a better chapterization.

Overlord isn't that. While some of the shit is already present in the WN it's way edgier and character wise Ainz is pretty happy in the LN because of chars like Albedo (when his bitterness from day 1 never goes away and he's pretty much a stereotypical undead "hate the living" in the WN).

Ainz consider all other players (if there even are any) a threat, which is why he's okay with her forming an anti-player task force. What he doesn't know and would be pissed about is if she would kill any guild members.

Which cannot and will not happen.

Because it's literally the opening scene everyone has deleted their accounts and gave their gear to Ainz but only the slime logged with Momonga on the last day.

She might want to but Albedo (nor Ainz much to his zetsubo) will never meet any.

Not really. It's more like reading Konosuba from the perspective of Megumin instead of Kuzuma, or Altina from the perspective of the spear-knight. With the exception of a few minor details like the fate of Enri, the series largely maintains a lot of the same points, just from a different plot element/focus- like watching an alternate world version of an anime where things are slightly different but the same basic plot plays out 90% of the time. Skins them alive, regrows the skin with healing magic. Fed on each other's meat too. Though, as a kindness, children are not fed to their own parents, and as a further mercy, the parents are permitted to watch the others eat their child in order to say goodbye. Of course, this is not sustainable, which is why Nazarick bought that grain.

And yes, that facility is where Demiurge suggested Tsuare should work as a maid.

Demiurge expended on the sheep thing because he though Ainz was making a joke, sasuga Ainz-sama, and couldn't have forgotten the prisoners. While Ainz, as usual, didn't get what Demiurge was joking about because a similar animal did existed in Yggdrasil and his autism.

Of course retards think "Ainz he's gonna be pissed when he found out" but quickly forget he's the one that gave them to him to make them suffer, as he himself had promised.

Entoma took her voice, Demiurge took her skin, obviously, her limbs were used as spares for undeads, her skinned head used as decoration for the devils of Demiurge floor and what was left was eaten... That list right there, is what Ainz mercy is. The others are still alive and very likely conscious. The priest was given to Demiurge to experiment to understand how holy magic works and Ainz himself also experimented memory manipulation magic. He is described as a meatball, they cut off his limbs since he didn't needed that and brain damaged and can't really speak but probably still aware of what they're doing to him... The couple is also alive and probably very aware of what is happening to them, they were given to the other insect of the 5 worst, as a new residence for it's kids and became obese parasite infested living puppets. "Abelion Sheep" heavily implies that Demiurge is supplying himself with a mix of Slane peasants and conquered Demihumans in the Abelion Hills region while experimenting for better quality scrolls, something that he mentions once or twice, and other characters comment on later. Recent volumes have alluded to this somewhat in how the tribes under him view PoWs and such. They're all scared shitless of their eternal leader.

Roble mentions that the Demihumans got surprisingly quiet in a timeframe that coincides with Vol 3, I think, and the first mention of "Abelion Sheep" is coincidentally Vol 4.

When considering these things, the circumstances of the Paladin of the Holy Kingdom arc seem much less random, don't they?

It's good to remember that for universal canon details like this, the author has a framework to use already out of the WN, so he's likely to drop hints in advance.

The Pleiades are generally not at a level where they receive this auto-immunity and even if they were Evil-Eye and her comrades are in fact above the lowest tier's minimum cap to be harmed it's just that none of them have the stats to take on Entoma in a direct fight.

It''s not explained because of the hatchet job this season is doing of explaining actual plot points.

Evileye IS a one of the Thirteen heroes (and the demon lord Landfall, the vampire lord).

Over the centuries she has lived she fought various demon lords, including the insect demon lord, for which she developed a unique anti-insect magic, specifically to deal with swarms of bugs and to kill it. Also she can the speels tiers were teleportation is (which in Naberal fight was revealed to be something no known magic caster could).

Evileye is hand down the most powerful char encountered so far (in the novels) AND has a magic that wasn't in Yggdrasil.

While Entoma isn't that strong per Nazarick standards (she was left to loot because people with transportation abilities are quite rare), the pleiades aren't really meant for solo actions, she's a wildcard in the party and around lvl 50 (Naberal and Solution are around 60), plenty of generic NPCs are far stronger than her. Also Gargaran misunderstand the situation completely and call her strong, since she can take her on in close combat (and would win)... but Entoma is a shaman/summoner, she actually sucks at it (but she can do it because she's a wildcard-type char, like Ainz).

That's why when Demiurge casted the spell the two other members of blue rose died instantly, he really didn't meant for them to die. She's just completely above them, despite them being the strongest amongst adventurers (latter on it's explained she was initially forced into it by another of the heroes).

From the perspective a real Momon who isn't just Ainz in disguise, he's jumping between two masked monsters fighting each other. For all he knows they could be conspirators turning against each other. That's what Evileye thought of his question, at least.

And from Ainz's perspective, he totally doesn't know who this demon is and has definitely never seen him before in his life, so clearly he can't be seen jumping to conclusions. Also probably >>806351

Lastly, though probably not intentionally on Ainz's part, it will provide Jaldabaoth an opportunity to give a speech declaring his master plan, so when Momon forces him to retreat after grueling battle, Evileye can give clear testimony as to the disaster that was so narrowly averted thanks to the Dark Hero.

Evileye is completely OP per everyone standards in the new world, she's a literal legend.

As proof she can even take one of the pleiade and win (even if she cheated a bit, but the fact she can cheat is a plot point).

But even her still can't even scratch Demiurge.

That's the whole point of that arc and since they completely fucked up Evileye char by neither giving out her background nor explaining the old magic/tier magic/current magic it fell flat on it's nose (which is what Sebas was actually doing if you remember, he's buying scrolls with new magic for Ainz that is trying to figure out what the fuck is going on with magic. Because Ainz worst nightmare is exactly that: that local magic can, to some extent, bypass Yggdrasil tier magic and skills. And latter Evileye demonstrate that).

>"I'll try to blunder through today too."

>Demiurge seizes some opening that Ainz made accidentally

>"You're so great Ainz. I could never have planned it to go this well myself."

I think I remember Ainz going around the city at that point trying to figure out what the fuck he is supposed to do in the LN. I could be wrong though. Okay, so This whole time Ainz has been having issues with magic? I don't recall him having any real trouble with casting magic. Unless its all just to see how the new world magic works in comparison?

Also, why does Demiurge have a mask? Its not like he has to masquerade with the new worlders. Especially in regards to his farming. Hell, Sebas and Narabe are doing the more public stuff than Demiurge. They should be the ones with masks, not the guy that just shows up. Also why didn't he just plop down and say: "Look we're killing Eight Fingers tonight, and you three just happened to see us in the act. Why don't you just go and tell your boss that your done here? Or if you really want to see what we've done you can have a look inside but I'm not responsible for any mental trauma." Grab Entoma then leave. Half the effort, with a possible good outcome.

But I guess not since we now have Momon there and its just going to become a cluster-fuck with "Ok, I'm fighting Demiurge, but I'm also fighting the Girl. But I can't kill Demiurge and the Girl is actually powerful. But what if she makes it out of here? And then she tells other people that Momon tried to kill her and her friends? There goes all that undercover work I busted my ass for."

Ainz and his NPC friends cannot innovate new magic, however so long as the new magic is part of the same system he uses he can copy it. The Yggdrasil NPCs and Players seem to be shafted the most since they can't replicate Martial Arts at all.

Demiurge is staging a fake demon invasion in order to make the character of Momon into a legendary Hero, beyond Adamantite tier.. This is important because once Nazarick goes public with Ainz as the Sorcerer King, Momon (now played by Pandora's Actor) will work with Ainz's administration, appearing to the public as a moderating influence and stopping them from getting out of line. Likewise, he has to wear the mask because Demiurge will be known and recognizable once the Sorcerous Kingdom is openly declared, and he wants to also be able to reuse Jaldabaoth later on.

 No.806474

>>806472

It's especially terrifying for him since knowing his opponent is his entire strategy. His build isn't great, but because he's a massive autist who memorized the details of literally thousands of the game's skills he could still hold his own in best-of-three PVP, after sacrificing the first bout to learn what his opponent had and develop a counter. The reason he could beat Shalltear was because he knew exactly what she had in her repertoire, and could plan accordingly.

Since "best 2 out of 3" doesn't count for much in the "real world", it makes sense for him to be shitting his pants over the possibility of magic he can't anticipate.

Ainz always had problems with magic since day one as in he has zero understanding of how it actually works, he has zero understanding how anything works really.

Some things works like in the game, people that are from the world can use items from the games but also magic from the game, but also their own skills, own items and variants of magic (and then latter on wild magic and runes) that are from the world.

Nearly everything Ainz does is to understand how things works or at least how to counter them, because his n°1 priority is the defense of Nazarick. Conquest of the world is just part of it, as in it multiplies the layers of defenses.

Ainz is paranoid and completely terrified of what he can't control (because he's an autist, that was aggravated because Shalltear ran into the literal black ops of the world greatest power, send there because he killed the other black ops group AND killed a bunch of seers with his countermeasure. So they took out the biggest gun out of the armory and sent the best they have: players descendants. And still all they could do is getting mauled by Shalltear and not even be able to properly control her) as such even when he should have realized the basic undead knights he can pop from any corpse is at the level of a legendary hero, or the staff fire elemental he can summon can probably destroy what passes for a superpower in than world... he thinks he's defenseless and is scurrying around to see if he can get sources of consumables for when he runs out of his stockpile of health potion (when NO ONE CAN EVEN SCRATCH HIM) that probably can't even fit in Nazarick without dimensional bags BS or if he can secure enough wheat to replace gold so he can raise his guardians (that will never die in a fight), after the 40th time each and his thousands of billions of in-game gold coins have runs out...

He's actually struggling for pocket money when he could melt and stamp a handful of his pure game coins and easily finance his ops but nope gotta save EVERYTHING in Nazarick.

Overlord is a textbook farce. "A comedy that aims at entertaining the audience through situations that are highly exaggerated, extravagant, and thus improbable." It is not something serious, most of it is the main character (Ainz) doesn't understand what the fuck is going on and assume something that the audience knows is idiotic, but by a combination of equally idiotic event and assumption by other chars, everything ends well, Sasuga Ainz-sama.

>Also, why does Demiurge have a mask?

Same as Ainz did. To hide his face.

Ainz doesn't have a clue how magic actually "works" in the new world, and how new world magic casters learn their magic. All of his old spells can still be casted, but it's by instinct, where he's sort of imagining himself using the ingame ui.

I unironically don't think anything Ainz is doing is idiotic though, he's actually one of the smarter players who's transmigrated to that world since he's not resting on his laurels and kicking back immediately after getting a easy win. He feels obligated to ensure 100% safety for his npcs and his tomb. It's the kind of responsibility a ruler should have and makes Ainz a great ruler worthy of the guardians respect. He lives to keep them protected and in return his subordinates reward him with well deserved loyalty and love. It's just mildly amusing when he takes things out of context and assumes there's a greater danger when in reality there isn't, hell he may be thinking more long term than demiurge is.

He's not. It's what we, the audience, know about what he assumes. From his point of view it makes sense, but we have information he doesn't, which is why it's funny because by being to smart and overusing logic to analyze what is largely random events, he always comes up with the wrong idea... but it fixes itself anyway in the end, because either other chars will be even more wrong than he is or because the issue wasn't one in the first place (typically both).

But he also deemed the probability of direct godly intervention rather low, while there definitely is people that can create new spells (hence why Sebas is buying "new magic of the week" at the mage guild) that weren't in Yggdrasil and there is multiple forms of indigenous magic.
