Is the ED worse or better than season 1?

There's a lot of QUALITY, the soundtrack is nowhere near S1 and there's no "de" flashcards. I don't think I can bother watching a 15min candy commercial.

I think S2 will be just as bad.

It's exactly what I expected. Candy trivia gets pretty old pretty fast, and the humor of it is too lacking to carry the show on its own. First season barely passed thanks to the fanservice, but now that that's ruined by the whole show looking like some weird Chinese knockoff don't know what to make of it.

I'm glad it's half-length cause I definitely couldn't see myself watching 30 minutes of this a week, but 12 minutes is still a pretty tough sell. I do want to see the OL show up though.

I don't understand this. S1 was quite enjoyable as it was and there is really no reason to make it shorter. If you didn't like S1 I don't even know what you're doing watching S2 or making comment on it.

Wasn't Hotaru worse in the first season, character-wise? Not that I have any idea what the source is like, but it feels like they're deviating more from the source and it's for the better. Maybe it just wasn't long enough for me to get sick of it.

It's a couple of kids in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do for long periods of time. Of course it's boring, it's supposed to be boring. Fishing, farming, and old people don't exactly make for high octane action stories, especially for children. The shorter format does a lot to destroy the setting and atmosphere by making things more rushed and energetic, as if they were living in Tokyo instead of some run-down shit town as far away from anything exciting as you are from understanding the point of long periods of nothing happening in a country setting.

NNB did really well with a middle of nowhere setting. Not the anon you are responding to but while a middle of nowhere setting means you won't see anyone casually getting convenience store food, it does not imply the story will be bland. I liked Dagashi season 1 just because candyslut was entertaining and did amusing stuff. I didn't really care much about the setting being in some rural town. Hotaru doing Hotaru things was the whole show.

Damn I didn't realize people hated Dagashi so much, I'm actually not thrilled that it's half-length since I don't think it does the series justice. I was shocked because there's enough fun stuff they could have done with Coconuts and You alone. I don't like the drop in quality but I'd live with it for full-length episodes, or at least have the shorts continue into some kind of almost-2cour like Tonari no Seki-kun did.

Pretty much my biggest complaint about Dagashi Kashi is that there's a lot of potential for fun stuff but it's all in service of advertising cheap snacks.

If you took the same characters, added a few more and then made the series about kids hanging out and having fun over the holidays in the sticks I think it'd be fantastic.
