When Chowder was airing, they ended up using a few fourth-wall gags that involved the studio, mostly the VAs and the creator, I think one or two involved real-world shots like those. I like those kinds of gags a lot.

Didn't quite enjoy it overall, to be honest. The sketches really don't work outside of the 4koma format, in my opinion, or at least they messed up the delivery for the new format. Maybe they should focus more on longer form sketches and either increment or ditch what was done in the manga already.

Yeah. Ninja Slayer was a much better Inferno Cop, even if it used the same style.

Slightly conflicted with the first episode. Some things worked but a lot of stuff didn't. I think it could have worked better in a shorter format since they repeat the episode twice with only a slight difference being voice actors. The only thing that worked for me in the change is that they translate what is being said in the second half of the french segment. You already know what happens, but once you have context for what is being said, it turns funny again. If they are going with this format, I would like more noticeable tweaks in the second half. Something to easily be switched in with the distortion of the idol anime show that it fits in seamlessly when you sort them with other episodes.

I would have preferred female voice actors with a gruff manly attitude for more manly voice actors without the falsetto. The delivery didn't quite cut it for me. Also, one annoying tick is that they cut to the pop team epic logo after every skit. I hate that in 4-koma style anime that do that. It breaks up the flow too much when it is done. I don't need my anime reminding me that it comes from a 4-koma source.

Episode 1 gags was ok, the highlight is Hoshiiro Girldrop and the length they went for that joke. Episode 2 OP and the stop motion segment was great. Episode 3 sealed the deal for me with "The Documentary".

As of episode 1, I was considered the show was a masterpiece.

As of episode 2, I gave it one more episode to redeem itself.

As of episode 3, it resigned into mediocrity.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant to have the second half of the episode done with the same scenes, but with different VAs, but this sort of thing doesn't work when done every single episode. Sure, they do one or two cool things with it, but it isn't worth losing half a season worth of jokes so that we get one more every episode.

While it stands well as a joke in a single episode, it doesn't when repeated. Imagine if the VA complaining scene from episode 2 happened 4 times every single episode, when they got the VAs to say something crazy. Repeating the same joke gets grating after a while, especially when it's a cost saving measure or when it stops you from seeing more actual jokes.

If in a later episode, it gets twisted on its head and they cut this gimmick, that would be a fine redemption, but it should have happened in episode 3. I'm hoping it's 17 minutes into episode 4, interrupting the repeat with smashing the clock, but I'm not holding my breath.

Just watched the 3 available episodes, some of it had me laughing out loud, some of it didn't.
