I'm not going near this show for the sole reason that I don't want to cry myself to sleep wishing that I had an actual ramen joint (the kind that is run by Japs) nearby.

I was expecting another 5-10 minute ad anime but it's actually a full length show!

Yuu is annoying and the visuals make me hungry but Koizumi is pretty cute so I'll keep on watching for now.

Yuu's shit, twintails had a bit too much gyaru put in her personality. Koizumi-san eats ramen. My expectations are not super high after this first episode.

Yeah, Koizumi clearly enjoys ramen and based on how long she talks about it she also seems to like talking about, otherwise she would have been more to the point and less detailed in her corrections to Yuu's misconceptions about it, Koizumi is just a shy girl who is having trouble knowing what friendships are like, I had a friend like Yuu in elementary school but eventually ran away from him, I want to hate myself for doing that but I legitimate did it in like fourth grade, so it just depresses me to think about. Anyway I hope Yuu is able to help Koizumi find her friendly side.

This show pulls no punches with the tourism service. Seasonal and regional varieties of ramen make you want to visit Japan every season just to try them. Fruit and nut ramen sound tempting but I think ice cream ramen is a good place to start.

While I don't totally disagree with you, I still like Yuu. She makes sense, really. All her friends are slutting it up and are lost causes, all the boys are getting laid with her friends, and she feels alone. Then she sees this beautiful, pure maiden named Koizumi, and she wants her. It makes total sense. Koizumi's love for ramen is directly analogous to Yuu's love for Koizumi.

Damn, I didn't think this mangaka was actually this nuanced, this wasn't a SoL comedy, it's a drama about a girl slowly losing her mind because a girl won't be her friend.

Yuu's broken-brain stare cuts into me like a knife. Every episode has me on edge, anticipating the first glance the animators will choose to flash us with to distract from what is otherwise a cute show. Every second leading up to her being back on-screen feels like a decade, like waiting for a guillotine to drop.

Yuu has clearly seen things no girl should have to.

Satisfied. Came for noodle slurping sound effects and cute faces. Got exactly what I wanted. Now I feel a sudden urge to visit Japan and drop money on trains to every ramen shop in the country.
