こんにちは, /a/!
AnimeBytes applications are open, and have been for at least a week. If you're interested in joining us, you should hurry up and apply before it's too late.
Thought you guys already knew about this, sorry I'm late.

Its a way more complete package, you can find licensed stuff, art books, vns, live action (I don't know how good that collection is though), music. 9/10 times you'll find what you want there, obscure 80s stuff, VN tls long after the translation team dried up into dust. I would have tried to apply, but I can't seed regularly so I'll pass this time.
I can only torrent one or two episodes at a time when the network admin isn't paying attention, or he gets mad at me for "inviting every hacker on the internet onto our network", and since seeding is a longer-term thing I can't do it reliably.

Upload speed really isn't an issue, since AB's economy is super easy compared to most private trackers (like BBT, now that it's private). Just leaving a decent number of things seeding will earn enough credit to download, all 1080p is freeleech so there's not many huge things that will eat ratio, and the ratio requirement is very low (0.2).

While on the topic of private trackers, AvistaZ is the one I use for Japanese live action. It's pretty solid, lots of 30Gb BD rips. They're a bit harsh with ratio, but if you stick with freeleech, once you get the ball rolling it's not that big of a deal anymore.
They're taking applications along with PrivateHD (that's the western tracker, all part of the same family). They also have an anime tracker but I haven't bothered looking into it.

Now I live in buttfuck-nowhere Eastern Europe and am getting 80mb/s download for next to nothing. As soon as these lazy fucks get off holidays, they're upgrading it to 300mb/s for something like $30 a month. And that's because they force you to pay for cable along with your internet.

Ontario. And not even Northern Ontario; I live within a couple hours' drive of no less than five cities with population over half a million. I live 25 minutes from a university.
>>769790
I'll keep it short for rule 9. Toronto and Ottawa together have enough population that their votes outweigh the rest of the province, so as long as the provincial government promises to benefit them they will always get reelected. Why subsidize infrastructure elsewhere? Or if you do, and the companies you paid instead use the money to upgrade Toronto yet again, why bother getting mad at them? A decade or so ago the government spent over a billion dollars to not build a power plant in an important Toronto riding, then when they started getting investigated they accidentally wiped the computer with the files on it. The minister responsible was elected to be the province's Premier after the cost of the cancellation came to light.
Technically what I have isn't even classified as "high speed internet"
>>769792
I would hope that the anime preferences and torrent term questions are just to make sure you're both human and know what you're even applying for. I could imagine the IRC/forum thing causing a rejection depending on the tracker, but hopefully this one isn't too cliquey and it won't make a difference as long as you're reasonable.
▶ No.769795>>769814

I should clarify, the CRTC considers high speed internet a "basic service" that all homes should have the possibility of getting, given its importance these days. The theoretical minimum they set is 50Mb/s up, 10 down.

They're blocking VPNs to make sure nobody is sharing an account. Which is still rather dumb, it's not like they have anything to lose from a shared account so long as it's following the site rules. I forgot about that rule and used a fairly popular VPN service for like 2 years before I got caught for it though, so they don't monitor it much apparently.
However, you can use a private VPN if you notify them ahead of time.

Qbittorrent is an horribly bloated bugfest. Among the big problems:
- depends on the buggy libtorrent-rasterbar that depends on the buggy boost
- depends on Qt even when compiled withotu GUI
- no client/daemon architecture
- 2600 open issues on the github (the most I've actually seen)
- development focused on features, not on stability

What did you even write? I only talked about this season for recent watches and 2 for favorite. I put Hyouge mono for my favorite too, your pic related. I was going to write LoGH but since I don't know the what politics the reviewer has I refrained, though according to stats LoGH is pretty popular on AB so it wouldn't have been a problem.
Just write honestly to show you know your shit without sounding like a tumblrweeb and there probably won't be a problem.

Still waiting for this shit to open back up. Everyone says they get accepted right after they send the application, but then it stays closed for 10+ hours. What gives?

Yo I put my two "favorite" anime as Love Hina (shit taste) and K-On! (generic, might as well write Cowboy Bebop) because they were baby's first animu for me at two different points in my life and basically put me on the road to becoming a total weebshit. Now I was thinking that picking two favorite anime is ridiculous, so I just wrote passionately about two shows that had a major impact on me. The point is how shit my choices were and I got accepted anyway.
I did make up for it by laying it down heavy when it came to seasonal shit.

I didn't even mention anything from this season and I got in. I did mention Lain though so maybe >>770829 is right.

I really have to wonder. I mentioned Kaiji as a favourite and named a couple musicians/OSTs I liked. I didn't really play up the elitist angle at all and got in almost immediately after applying. Maybe they're sitting there with an 8ball.

I mentioned Kaiji too, along with Chihayafuru and Tesagure. I also sperged out about denpa songs and some doujin circles no one's ever heard of, but I got in. It really makes me wonder what they're even looking for.

Weird, I also mentioned Kaiji as a favorite. Maybe one of the people screening these is a big Kaiji fan, and I'll get in easy. Fingers crossed.

I'll never give up!

I got in with what is essentially "I don't actually listen to a lot of Japanese music outside of the occasional Touhou remix and that I don't know who composed what since I just look at whether or not I like what I'm hearing" written in my application.
▶ No.771025
My first application got rejected and they didn't give a proper reason why, so I tried again and wrote considerably less the second time (I wrote a lot in the first one) and it got rejected again because I didn't explain why I like my favorite anime enough.
I bet whoever reviewed my first application didn't even read what I wrote but would have approved the second one, and whoever reviewed my second one would have approved my first one.

To people trying to get a good ratio, I found a trick.
Some of the animebytes torrents are just public tracker torrents, so you can download them from nyaa or whatever then remove them (but keep the files), download the animebytes version and start seeding.
Even if the torrent is freeleech this means you don't have to deal with seeding for 72 hours to avoid a hit and run if you don't want to.
For instance I'm doing this with [Erai-raws] Net-juu no Susume - 01~10 [1080p][Multiple Subtitle] which I had already downloaded from nyaa some time ago. Most currently airing anime should be good targets.
Have a picture of a snarky elf.

Seems to be the most related thread on the board so far. I've been looking for any news on the whole battle between nyaa.pantsu and nyaa.si. There seems to be a lot of current airing shows missing from pantsu, starting somewhere around Dec 22nd. I'm wondering if anything happened with sub groups that made them stop posting onto pantsu. Anyone know what's going on?
