I kind of figure I'm being paranoid but I just want to know other people's experiences to quell my paranoia. I'm starting to purchase manga from Japan over Amazon, I've purchased them in "new" condition but seem to notice sometimes the edges being frayed and sometimes the cover of the book having scratches on it even though the paper cover doesn't have them. This just leads me to think I'm being given "used" goods, although the binding of the book is tight which means it hasn't been opened to be read. What's other peoples experiences with purchasing books from Japan/Asia? Are these just signs of international travel and I'm just being paranoid?

I've had issues like that when buying from European amazon, but not from Japan.

Bumped edges can be expected from shipping, but the scratches sound weird. If you suspect they're lying about the status of the books you're supposed to contact the seller, or in the worst case Amazon' customer service about it. One has to keep in mind that the language barrier could be a problem when dealing with japs.

Holy shit, recommend me some good anime merch

Generally touhou and /ak/. They have some styled sukusuku hakutaku plushes, but not normal ex keine.

I know I shouldn't bother with merch there, as knockoff companies can easily make a page and put up products. Becomes obvious when you look up flashlights and see the exact same generic light from different companies who only have 2 or 3 products they sell.

Stop. Use your fingers to poke around and clean, holes will last longer. Every tear will get worse and worse unless you take a soldering iron to meld it together. Soldering irons will extend the lifespan as well. Only flip if it specifically says it's made for it.

My pillow is like those tiny bead filled ones and it's kind of deflated so there's not very much support left in it, it's half as empty as when I first had it. But all copies I've come across have been over $200. So I bought the abridged version, for some reason named differently, "Measure and Construction of the Japanese House". Even being an abridged version, there's a huge wealth of in depth information in the same manner as Japanese Homes and their Surroundings, but with much more diagrams and layouts.

Got some more stuff in! Been sitting on this package for a couple weeks.

First up is a matching Mikoto nedoroid and a Christmas outfit/body. Pretty cute match I'd say, and just in time for Christmas. Kind of annoyed by the stand, but I guess that's standard.

Next is the preowned PSP Index game plus Mikoto, and at first glance I was pretty creeped out. It's probably the long thick neck plus small head that does it. After fiddling around for a while, it grew on me a bit. The game is still sealed, which is good. Kind of feels like I'm getting some closure, since the PSP Railgun + Kuroko was one of my first figure purchases (and just over a year ago).

Stand is just terrible though. Barely goes in at all. I had to force it so hard I was afraid of breaking something. Fails the blacklight test too.

For last there's a Megumin eyepatch and two calendars, of which neither calendar was what I expected. I though the Youjo Senki one was going to be a desk calendar, while the 2hu one would be a more standard one. They're both very large and filled with nice art, so I'm not too bothered. I'm only worried about how I'm supposed to change months. I guess I have to tear off a page every month, but what can I do with the pages afterwards?

After a few months, this finally arrived along with Kuro. This looks pretty damn good too.

The hair is very detailed along along with the rest of her head. The ears have depth inside of them where the fuzz comes out. Her drills come to small strands instead of staying thick all the way down. The headband even has nice ribbons on them that aren't solid on the inside of the loops.

The guitar actually has strings attached to it instead of them being painted onto it. You can even give here a pick which goes into her right hand. The upper clothing is obviously well detailed too with all the wrinkles and creases. Another cool detail is the thigh highs squeezing down on her thighs with some skin bulging out. Or how the fabric wrinkles near her bent knee and at the feet at it goes into her shoes.

The base is pretty basic though it's not bad at all. Overall it's fantastic.

Kuro is next. I like the way they did the fur with this one. She's posed slightly different than what the box shows and she has a more happy expression instead of mischievous. Her hair may not be as detailed as Cyan's but I still like it. My only complaints with her head are the bow, which could look better, and could have added a little more depth to her mouth.

Meanwhile the body looks nice. The skirt can be removed but I haven't bothered to take her top off yet. What surprised me is that this doesn't have panties. The belt and skirt are the only things covering her up. It's hard to decide if I like Miyu or Kuro. They both look great.

>>771583

It might as well not be Tooru. Still, her tail makes no sense. Where does it even come from? It's more like it's not actually attached to her body but her clothing. It certainly doesn't come out of her tail bone.

Also that house has the biggest kitchen I have ever seen. If I'm reading the scale right, each square is 3ft by 3ft (3 shaku by 3 shaku). That makes it 18 ft by 15ft above the sink then another 27 ft by 6 ft in the hallway? next to it.

Does that have anything on kotatsu dimensions, wood preservation (Shou-Sugi-Ban, 焼杉板), and bathroom layouts?

Currently on the fence about the height I should make my kotatsu.

 No.771840

>>771836

>wood preservation

I don't know if this is how the Nips would do it, but a tried and true way is to torch the outer surfaces of the wood until black, use a wire brush + sand paper to remove the outer layer of black char (?), wipe clean, brush on some quality linseed oil or linseed oil/beeswax mix and let it dry. A more nigger-tier way that is useful on things such as outdoor fences is to treat the wood with used motor oil; It will last fucking ages. Also interesting is that wood that has been thoroughly smoked (imagine roof beams that have been sitting above a firepit for many years) become waterproof.

None of these houses have bedrooms. I think they just layout the futon wherever there's space and sleep there. Then they put them away in the morning. It's a very clever way to save space.

 No.771878

>>771859

I like that. Not sure traditional is the right word, but it feels traditional. The sleeping rooms in other pages show 4 or more futons all lined up nicely. Its like the family all sleeps in the same room and all eat in the same room together as well. The family as a unit and as a valuable thing really shows in the layouts. Even the smaller homes do not have bathtubs at all because the family is expected to use the public bath which fits with a strong tightly knit community. Continuing from this its natural to fear, loathe, and despise foreigners or anyone not fitting in to family/community behaviors. What if they bring some plague? The west could really learn from this. End of digression.

Are there any 2 story designs? Since they show the dimensions of a European person, does the book show any western inspired designs? In picture 11 next to the entrance, what is the ante room? The tea rooms are serious. Does the book talk about why the whole house is effectively on short stilts? Is the only heat source in the whole home the fireplace? I'm sorry for being so excited about a house

Yeah the living room is usually the living/eating/sleeping room in smaller houses. It doesn't show the diagrams of the second story. I'm guessing the full unabridged book does. Also that is more of a kitchen + veranda/hallway. Rooms are usually connected to a veranda/corridor for ventilation and access. The winding hallways that you always see are a consequence of the modular building technique. Where at first the house may start off small, but over time more and more rooms and adjacent verandas are basically lincoln logged to the house. Also the speckled floor patter in the blueprints are compacted bare dirt.

>>771836

There's no furniture descriptions or wood preservation techniques in the (abridged)book. This book has more furniture related stuff. It might ave what you're looking for >>770648. There's also only this picture of a few toilet layouts. Which is surprising to me since, if I'm not mistaken, the traditional Japanese toilet is one of the most refined parts of the house.

>>771878

>Tea

Read The Book of Tea by Kazuko Okakura if you haven't already

>why is the house on stilts?

Its simple and modular. The foundation (being literally holes filled with rocks) allows the shifting to resist earthquake damage.

>fireplace?

Yeah only the fireplace for heat. Japanese houses are freaking cold. It's a side effect of the house basically being a wooden skeleton with paper walls to prevent the entire place from into a pile of mold in the summer. But also because of that, there's enough ventilation to have a fire pit and not die from CO poisoning.

In Praise of Shadows by Junichiro Tanizaki is a good essay for insight into Japanese culture and resulting architecture.

No wonder the Japanese cold and kotatsu are so strong.

>modular

Also of note are the single and double wide sliding doors. Just from some of those designs you can see how those almost endless hallways of doors through rooms happen. Similarly a maze of hallways around all parts of a property with those cute covered veranda bridges to various rooms or ceremonial areas.

>kitchen

I presume they use the kneeling tables for serving and eating meals but do any plans show the tables that sit below the floor?

Why haven't you built the perfect Japanese house for your waifu yet? Then add on rooms as your family grows. I know I want to at least take some design elements from these. The paper thin non-insulated walls can stay in Japan though

I might've missed Christmas, but it's his birthday coming up on sunday anyways so I decided to get him a figure of his waifu. Hopefully he can keep it without having trouble with his parents, otherwise I might have to hold onto it for him until he moves out.

So C93 has begun. What did you guys grab or order? Some of the music circles I hoped would put out some new music didn't but I still got a few CDs. C92 had lots of jazz and relaxing music but this time there was a ton of pop, house, and EDM which I'm not a fan of. DDBY made another Touhou Bartender and there's more comfy folk music from Ringing Volcano.

As for doujins, there were a good amount of paizuri centered works which was one of the main things I was looking for though no Facominn who also makes some good paizuri-only doujins. There's a massive amount of FGO and Azur Lane which have been putting out doujin-bait characters left and right. There was some loli here and there but barely any monster girl material. And I couldn't find any vore centered doujins which was disappointing. Besides that there were a few pantyhose focused works which I definitely picked up.

This time I didn't grab any video games. I'm pretty stocked on games at the moment. No tapestries this time either.

On the game's side, there were some games that looked promising.

https://hooktube.com/watch?v=1vHEopouV9Q

Check out the game at 21:30. It's a 4 player fighter. There's that game at 25:57 where you fight enemies with a tower of your clones. 2 cool shoot em ups at 21:32. There's a 3D shoot em up at 36:00 followed by a cool puzzle/rhythm game at 37:02. 43:57 you have a game where you try to kill people with mass hoards of zombies. There's this cool rhythm based hack and slash game at 49:37 as well. Touhou 15.5 at 1:07:02. 1:12:00 is a silly Touhou theft game where you try to have the most stuff before the time runs out. I believe Touhou 15.5 is coming to steam on the 5th of Jan so you won't have to import unless you want a physical copy.

So I gave some thought about buying an onahole.

What would /a/ recommend for a good first one? I checked the buyfag guide, but not sure how much changed between when it was made and now. Any other good advice?

 No.776539

>>776532

Lolinco if you want a nice tight onahole or La Bocca della verita if you want a mouth but it's a bit difficult to clean

I have both and they are fucking amazing even after a year.

 No.776667

>>776532

>>776539

Second for lolinco. I got it for my first onahole and I've got almost nothing bad to say about it other than some splitting on the inside. I got the bigger version so I don't know if I'm a bit girthy or if it's a regular issue. Regardless it still holds up and I haven't noticed a difference.

 No.776672

>>776532

Third for lolinco. If you like fat mons or hymen breaking this one has both. You don't actually have to break the hymen though

 No.776677

>>776532

Going to buck the trend here and advocate against the lolinco. The 'first time' experience with it or holes like it is great, but in my experience the internal tearing started after just a couple uses and got progressively worse with repetition. I don't know if it's an issue with the 'hymen' structure or dual-layer holes in general, but the lolinco held up merely 'okay'. My personal recommendation for a handheld-type hole is a lilith spiral wave (soft or very soft).

 No.776680

>>776539

>>776667

>>776672

Can anyone positively confirm or deny the legality of the Lolinco for >a fucking leaf?

My first western-made hole is finally giving up the ghost after over three years, so like that anon I'm looking into onahole options, but I'm terrified to order anything unless I can be certain I won't go to jail for raping plastic.

Sorry if this is answered in the guide; pastebin appears to be down at the moment.

 No.776682

>>776680

I don't think the plastic is the issue for that country. The box art I think is what they take exception to. If you tell the seller to remove the item from its box and ship it in a generic cardboard box I have no idea how anyone can have a problem with it without knowing what specific hole it is beforehand. Of course, stupid countries exist and your neck would be totally dependent on some guy in a warehouse actually bothering to unbox and rebox the onahole.

It was the box art that got the dude v&, not the contents if I recall.
