Due to certain reasons I have been limited to cellphone for internet for the last few months. During this time I decided to rewatch my 14tb of anime and I began to get bothered by numerous things. Bad audio files, mistimed subs, mislabeled sub and audio streams. This got me thinking about nyaa splintering and BBT purging their trackers of certain sub groups due to internal politics. In the future finding a good release out of a sea of bad will only become more difficult. Add to that when Netflix and Sony shutdown the sub scene all we will have in on our hard drives and what we will share independently.

This brings me to the point of this post. I would like to create a masterlist of releases to find all errors, corrupt files, and to create a unified standard for use in anime MKV packaging.

Is anyone interested in contributing? All you would need to do is list a series, it's release, the errors and anything else you think relevant. It doesn't matter if multiple releases of the same show are posted. I can dig through them to find the highest quality video, audio. Multiple subtracks can be retimed and add to the files so anon could choose the subs he likes best.

This Tripcode will only be used to verify releases by confirming identity. Please no bully.

This sounds like a pretty big project, so this list will allow anons to download the anime release of their choice with subs to choose from?

When series are finished upload them to every tracker under the [Autismcore] release name. I am starting with me Haremkino folder since that genre is notorious for multiple bad encodes for every series. Should finish DxD up to the end of Born by the weekend.

Oh and all releases will contain every subtitle file I can time.

will it be video+audio, with a subfile not embedded in the video?

 No.758261

Oh and for any group that might get upset. A credit and encoding txt file will be included citing every source used in a particular release.

Packaged. Just select the substream you want and it plays.

What will you do about hardsubs?

 No.758269

Just Japanese audio right? Because trying to include dubs will increase the file size and dubs are worthless anyway. I don't think it would be too much trouble to re-encode releases with multiple audio tracks to only have one (or more if it has multiple Japanese audio tracks, like mono, stereo, etc.).

Not much that can be done. My older physical media(1999-2004ish) I can rip and repackage .mkv myself. If someone wants to copy the subs to a text file I can time it and add it as an alternative to official subs. VHS era and back is going to be a lot harder.

Yeah, no dub cancer.

It's not a matter of encoding. MLB is just like the name says, nested streams of data. You can add as much as you want. The actual encoding would be what bloatgirls does when they choose the largest possible encode for audio and video because obviously that is the best one

What about exceptions like Ghost Stories?

The English dub exists as a seperate entity. If you look for it online you likely aren't looking for the jap version. In addition there were numerous edits for the English version that cause the video to fall out of sync with the jpn audio.

Does anyone know who has the best audio for Infinite Stratos season one?

Do you just want the information of a series or do you want the series uploaded to a place?

Information. I spent most of today researching the same three episodes nine times to check sound and video before unpacking them to cross check the timing on the subs to ensure they match the video.

Anything that sticks out as bad will save me having to check that aspect. [HCLS] for example shits on audio and video encoding to shave a couple of MBs off so they can brag about being the smallest. I know to trash any audio or video stream they have and check their script to see if it is an original or someone else's.

Could this tie into IPFS or is it still too early? /r/ Samurai champloo. I've been meaning to archive a quality bd release of this for a while but the few releases on pantsu.cat from NP-Complete and a-s were very poor. There's also a raw but it's 720p. I'd try to sort this out myself but my internet speeds are 4th world.

>>758281

Do dub; no cry.

I have the DVDs but not the BD. Right now I am working offline. Come the new year I will dump what is done when I have internet again.

You could always archive your own copy by scrounging up the draws and comparing the timing with whatever script you have. If it syncs grab MKVNix, open the files up, insert your script, rename the tracks to fit your naming convention, repackage and you are good to go.

Rather than trying to gather data on releases piecemeal, I would start by scraping all the information from AniDB's group status list for each series, eliminating obvious non-contenders like *fish/other LQ re-encodes, TV/stream sources, etc., and only then relying on anon input and direct comparison to work with the rest.

There's also one other point: are you only interested in English subs, or would your ideal archival structure include the subs for other languages when releases with them exist?

>>758836

I eventually went with the RUELL-Next release for that, but Kagura or NinjaPanda releases also seem like a good substitute. Not that any of those look perfect either, considering the BDs like so many shows of that era don't look that great to begin with.

How about archiving torrent files? That addresses the file hashing problem in a simple way.

How would this fix the errors that are in these releases? I'm all for harnessing the power of /a/utism but whats the reason here?
