Anyone here owns machines? Either running an arcade for profit or just a few machines for personal use?

I used to own a TMNT machine a few years back, bought it for $100 out of some pizza shop but I eventually sold it because I didnt feel like taking it with me when I moved.

 No.87

Exactly how would one go about buying an arcade machine? Where do they even sell them?

How much did you sell it for?

Look on ebay, tons of machines and cabs are sold on there. Be wary of it's condition though since you'll have to be doing a LOT of maintenance to keep them running. Arcade boards are very DIY and you'll need to know a lot of basic shit about wiring.

My dad used to own an arcade back in the 90's. He still has a bunch of machines in his garage.

I am a owner of an arcade business and also collect personally. Ive actually been looking for someone to help crack data for pretty much anything we own. We had a guy that we paid to do things for us and one day he just disappeared.

More like "Just acquired a shit ton of extremely difficult to obtain games, cracked them, wrote IO emulators for them without any previous existing documention on them, reverse engineered the networking needed to get them to boot and then released them on a forum for free just to see gaylords like you get massively butthurt at freely available games" team. It doesn't have quite a ring to it as "cracking team" huh?

the "cracking team" didn't do any of the work, they just paid for a drive with someone else's work on it (that was based on someone else's work) and then broke basic drive protections and wrote a fucking wrapper to run it on a standard PC

cool story

My father owns a decent collection of cabinets, slowly gathered over his 25+ year of being an arcade and electronics 'mechanic.'

I used to own a Neo-Geo 4 cartridge upright cabinet. Metal Slug 2, 3, Cyber Lip, and Spin Master.

I also will own a CarnEvil cabinet as an heirloom. It's in pretty good condition too.

Let me guess, you're the same kind of idiot who thinks all it takes is to flip a few bits.

also just incase you didnt notice jack doesn't know how to get clean dumps working. so instead he hacks the shit out of it. you may want to have a look at the dumps of whats been posted. as they are clean as a whistle.

also if you know about jack why dont you send him a message to say thanks for all the free games as they were released because he got greedy and tried to sell open source software

I've been thinking about saving up and buying an Initial D machine because I'm insane and there's no rips of the more recent games as far as I can tell.

 No.2262

I do own a SEGA New Astro City and a another in normal MDF.

I have all the CPS2 fighting games, a Naomi with MvC2 and a MVS FZ with some Kofs, metal slugs and real Bouts. I love all this and i just wish a good and cheap CPS3.

 No.2289

I found a Defender at an auction that had been long since converted into a slot machine game, unusable control panel, shot monitor, t-molding just missing, broken coin mech. I got it for $25 and totally gutted it for a MAME build, felt bad doing it but I can't wait to start collecting and preserving real cabs once I can actually track down a good deal
