Rules are good only if they correspond to interests of the community.

Discuss and propose any rules in this thread.

Currently here are no rules except global ones.

I propose one rule though: shocking content is prohibited as long as it does not serve artistic intentions.

I have 4 photo threads on this board right now.

There's just no reason to waste time making the 5th.

The guy who took over this board from the original owner was plenty cocky about "making it awesome" but it's clearly not going to happen.

It's a shame too because I was sick to death of halfchan /p/ and had high hopes for this.

Just hand developed a roll of pinhole photographs and scanned them in. These were taken with a holga 135 pinhole camera on tri-x 400 film. I developed them with fujifilm chemicals. 7 minutes in the developer, 1 minute in the stop bath, 9 minutes fixer, and a 10 minute water wash.

The roll was really overexposed because I miscalculated how long I should shoot each frame for (it was my first time shooting with a holga pinhole). Anyways, here they are.

Also, general pinhole photography thread.

I listened to that album for the first time some months ago at 2am while pretty sleep deprived. (Spoiler alert, maybe, kinda)

**I was reaally dazed out. I was dreaming about (surprise) my childhood, more specifically an odd bunker-like laundry room our housing complex used for some reason. I'm not even sure if it exists in hindsight.

And holy shit when that "I love you" came during the second track I felt like I was going to melt into another dimension. Seriously. I felt warm and dizzy and it was as if my body fell through my bed into some void. It still kills me every time.**

Really nice board btw, just found this.

Their music really messes with your head. I actually get depressed listening to them sometimes since the eerie nostalgia becomes so overpowering. It makes think of hazy childhood recollections, false memories, and paranormal phenomena (like that In Search of... show with Leonard Nimoy that used to deal with that kind of stuff). The Sandison brothers really know how to get into your head, and there's really an incredible amount of attention to detail in cultivating an aura of mystery.

I've experienced the falling-through-the-bed sensation you mentioned before going to sleep one night; it felt like the beginning of an out-of-body experience or something.

I shot it on old Powershot and did a ton of post-processing in GIMP. The process involved a lot of playing with gradients, contrast, and saturation trying to get the right kind of feeling. As much as people like to rag on digital, it's capable of getting solid results provided that you're willing to sink time into editing.

I use the "shift" and "video" (striped) filters in GIMP a lot to give pictures that worn look. The reason it's so prominent here is that I cropped it out of a larger photo that didn't really work as a whole.

How would you achieve this kind of color?

>low quality ancient Streetview frame

Yes, I know.

I'm a color photographer. I am absolutely fascinated with colors and how they blend with shapes and light. I love films, edits, and processes that give a high contrast, deep over-saturation of colors. I also love weird and funky colors.

My favorite times to shoot are when the sun is in the middle of waxing and it happens to be a very bright day; sometimes, if the conditions are just right, and the exact perfect amount of particles are in the air, and the leaves are all in the right place, and you've sacrificed at least 20 beetles, you can get extremely bright colors and funky contrasts. The perfect time to shoot grainy film.

Aside from the question of the thread, what kinds of colors do you like? What kind of film produces your favorite colors? What about camera settings and photo edits?

This is a color thread, motherfucker.

Try sending them off to Dwayne's Photo. I've heard it's the service Wal-Mart send negatives to. If you go directly through them though, they won't destroy them like they do if you go through Wal-Mart.

There aren't really many options unless you have a local place nearby. I'd recommend it if you're looking to get the less common, non-35mm film types developed.

I think that it is reasonable to have a thread where people will leave notes about anything they want until there are enough people to produce substantial discussion. It is called "check in thread"?

I just use Dwayne's for 120 film. If you're going for 35mm, you should be able to find a place that's fairly local.

I feel your pain.

I try to post photos when I have some. I am not capable of giving meaningful critique.

Thanks, m9. I think I remember seeing something about Agfa film being distributed by different companies under other names. I should probably read up on that.

I did manage to get some Ektachrome 100 off eBay, but it expired back in like 1990 and the slides came back mostly blank.

The idea's cool but I think it'd be cooler if the carvan thing was more to the right and in the distance with the empty desert dominating the rest of the area.
