IT ENDS: Final Episodes of IBO

>making a new thread because old one is laggy af and final episodes deserve their own thread

I'm not going to discuss much this last episode (47) because it was just a setup for the big fight that is coming next, the "kill em all" episode that comes afterwards (hopefully), and the final-fight/resolution that comes in the last.

Having said that, the image names of these two pics is all I have to say about this episode… and the character "development" of Mika during this anime so far.

This question will become more relevant towards at the end of episode 50, but what do you think will (or want to see) happen in the next gundam series.

> it doesn't have any impact.

It won't have impact because we haven't fallen in love with the characters during this time; this only highlights the main failure of IBO, that is that it's a meh-/m/ show with meh-characters. To be more specific (unlike everyone else in this thread), the reason it's all meh is because they spent too much time; it would have taken me 25 episodes to do what it took them 50. The longer a show takes to tell something, the more boring it gets.

>Is IBO a good first gundam series? I get put off by the super powered children aspect of most gundam. Is this like that? It looks like it's borderline.

Borderline is probably a good way to put it…

The main pilot is nigh unbeatable, but he's a literal child solider whose been fighting most of his life and survived getting backwater Man-Machine Interface Implants three times when even once has a 40% chance of crippling you for life.

This makes him their best pilot, so of course he get's the super robot relic that was being used as their bases generator.

Now, when it comes to first Gundam series, eh, it's kinda a toss up…

Season one is plagued by atrocious story pacing, so it's best to binge watch to mitigate that.

This is also the first Gundam since 00 to get a proper English Dub, so that makes it more accessible.

Yeah, it's especially bad in the first season, where the plot is dragging it's feet seemingly only for filler purposes.

Season two is way better at pacing and having actual ACTION every couple of episodes, but even then it has a tendency to not live up to ones' hopes.

Supposedly a lot of this was clashes between Director Nagai and Writer Okada, with Okada originally wanting to start much darker but end season two on a bittersweet note, while Nagai forced a "nobody died" happy end for first season, but wanted to KILL EVERYONE at the end of the second.

While Okada has a reputation of being a hack writer, I think if Monkey is her idea of a self-insert, she was probably the lesser of the two evils there.

I had finished watching the first season. It was a decent show at that point but definitely dragged. Mikuzuki still wasn't anything more than a background character attack dog who was treated like the top fighter because reasons. That didn't change much in the small bit of Season 2 I saw. The fights just got worse too. They don't respect the robots at all, they don't take advantage of the demon names beyond very minor design references, and they don't make anything feel exciting. It feels like they didn't know whether to be rule or super. It could've just been a dark super robot show and it would've been improve immeasurably. Instead it's just a bore to sit through most of the time. You don't care about Mika or Bernstein. They're wet tissues of characters.

>Okay Hashmal is actually pretty cool. Not gonna lie. Basically an edgy looking metal gear with a mind of it's own. Shame it's kit is overpriced.

Eh, it's pretty alright considering just how much plastic you're getting with it:

Hashmal itself is easy twice the size of a standard HG and comes not only with it's own stand but one for its' Pluma drone/tail, PLUS accessory and effect parts.

On top of all that, there aren't a whole lot of Mobile Armor models anyways.

But yeah, the Hashmal Arc really showcases where IBO falls flat; A fucking awesome set-up… That mostly goes nowhere and even is ended rather anti-climatically via flashback.

Basically all that comes out of it is heavier hinting at McGillis' delusional worship of Agnika Kaieru, the founder of Gjallarhorn, as well as a BIT more justification for why the setting is so anti trans-humanist.

This is ESPECIALLY painful when an emblem found both on Hashmal and early Barbatos (and Bael when we see it) hints that the Mobile Armors and Gundams actually share the same creators, making one question whether the entire Calamity War wasn't just one huge conspiracy!

This also personally pisses me off, as no sane human being would have made unstoppable, self-sustaining kill bots both WITHOUT A FAILSAFE and PROGRAMMED TO KILL EVERYONE!

…I mean, how can my self-insert make one his daughteru if we don't even know what actually went into their creation?!
