Just talk to the guy and be nice to him. Assuming you aren't going for Chad's (you're here after all so I doubt chad would be into you) most men are so socially starved for women's attention that being nice and interested in them is enough to get them to love you.
The main thing you need to be worried about is being careful to select a guy who is good for you.
Listen to your gut instinct, look up warning signs for abusive men (they're all trying to be on their best behavior early on but stuff always shows through the cracks, like letting slip they hate kids or they deride something that is important to you, or if they act aggressively/angry/bitter about anything that is petty, not respecting your sexual boundaries, acting like a whiny brat at any time). The tiny pebbles of red flags will turn into boulders and mountains if you're with them for years. Being with the wrong person can be really bad for your mental and physical health and there are plenty of nice adjusted men in the world especially if you compromise on looks a little (don't write off short guys. Plus if they are muscular you will still feel small next to them)
Once you have the guy you want google "36 questions to fall in love" amd go through it with him. Do it in person if you can because you're supposed to stare into each other's eyes at the end. The questionnaire really works for building emotional intimacy
