Yeah it sucks, in France you can stritcly wear nothing for personal defence, except gas sprayers. Knuckles dusters, tasers and knives with 7cm or more blades are prohibited.

You're an american or euro, chum? noticed the french on the pic.

Haha, I know what you mean unfortunately. Sharpening stones are a must! Maybe honing oil but I've heard you can just use water to prep the stone instead. Every new knife acquired goes through a session on the stone, to hone out the edges and points.

Your knife is definitely a keeper!

consider the predator tool. designed for special forces as a non-lethal weapon. Very hard material to jab, hammer, slash, rake etc. There are many videos on how to use these too.

basically it looks like a large goofy keychain and comes with a fast release lanyard for quick deployment. you can also buy them in a clear finish to make them harder to notice.

>except gas sprayers

They can be quite effective. Which kinds of substances are allowed, and in which concentrations? KO Fog/Jet are good enough, but there may be more powerful models, especially if they're a combination of OC and CS. Video (skip to 06:00) shows KO Fog in action, and as you can see, the attacker is wasted in under 2 seconds (during which he's blind anyway).

I'm in a similar situation (here you can carry less-lethal pistols, but they are very limited in power and they're worse for stopping an attacker than a good spray), so I just got myself a 25ml compact can and a double stack IWB mag pouch for carrying it (because the spray itself has no clip, most of the sprays sold in Europe should have it by default).

Ever see that Johnny Knoxville video where he tries all the non-lethal man-stoppers and cries like a bitch about how pepper spray would 'stop a freight train'? I've heard cops say they'd go for that if they're in range, before a gun, because you can miss with a gun, but the mist from one of those sprays can hit 3 guys at once.

>Anything that requires direct contact WILL get you killed

I think, if you're going to pull a knife, it'd better be in a situation where you're already in arms reach, and it's your last option. A knife won't get you killed, but a knife fight is basically the worst case scenario.

I mean, my EDC is kinda forced on me, as I work 10-12 hrs almost every day of the week. It's a Klein wire skinning knife with replaceable blades. I do high voltage line work, so I use the shit out of it. But even though it's a work knife, I think it'd be bad ass in a fight, especially if it dug in and shaved a big chunk of flesh off the way it does wire insulation.

I think the most schway knives would be something similar to what's used in the Kovacs novels; a portable vibrating knife that can basically vibrate its way through bone with ease. I'd love to find something like that.

For now, when I'm not at work, I choose from 3 knives depending on what I'm doing. My main is a very plain, unassuming Gerber folding pocket knife. I use it for regular commuting. The 2nd is a more intimidating, much larger Kershaw folding knife. I carry it when I go places where I can't take a gun but want protection. The 3rd is a customized Mora knife I use if I'm in the woods or doing stuff putdoors.

If you are going to carry a gun illegally, you might as well carry a fully assembled gun. Because the penalty, if not higher, will be the same, and no cop is going to be fooled by a disassembled weapon hidden on your person. Bullets are bullets. Also, unless your some kind of assassin, you probably want your gun to work defensively as well, and a disassembled weapon doesn't do that.

Yeah, thats how you go to jail. Because if you get into a knife fight, you will probably have forensic evidence of that fight, and possibly wounds that require treatment at a hospital that will be reported to LE. your far better off trying to make a self defense argument before you flee than after.

Also, don't get into a knife fight. I used to carry a knife until I almost used it. I stopped because I realized that actually stabbing someone is probably worse than getting beat up trying to defend yourself. Although, because of the knife, I still don't know. So theres that.

The actual wisdom in the thread. Most people don't get stabbed because they don't carry a knife, and think they are going to have an win a knife fight.

Most violence is social violence, and generally cooperating with your attacker results in you living.

A 95% reasonable survival strategy is accepting you may get robbed, and cooperating with the robbery. In 0.00…1% of cases some one is a serial killer, and you a knife fight is the best outcome. Carry a knife if you can trust yourself to only use it in that scenario. Because the consequences of using it outside that scenario are real. I don't carry anymore.

How many knife fights have you successfully completed? I said clearly, that having a knife might actually be useful, but tried to give voice to something most edgy teenagers who carry a knife never thought about:

What happens if you get into an altercation while carrying that knife, and use it?

If you decide to carry a lethal weapon, you have to be able to determine when you can use lethal force. And if you are an edgy teenager, getting punched by anyone might make you fearful enough to draw that knife. And that might have consequences.

You might draw that knife, escalate a situation from a you got punched situation to a you got shot, or stabbed situation. Or, you might kill or injure someone and have to live with that, and potentially how long in prison ?

It seems people here have some kind of fantasy, that they are dangerous because they have a knife. Having the knife is a sense of false confidence, an incitement to escalate, and their are already retarded people on here talking about how easy it is to 'stab and run', as if the aftermath knife fight wouldn't leave forensic evidence and/or require health care. The reality for most people here is probably that they are more dangerous to themselves with a knife.

I am honest enough to admit that I don't frequently enter situations were i might get stabbed - can't get stabbed on fullchan. And that carrying a knife for me resulted in escalation that didn't need to occur , and I almost stabbed some people out of fear, and that could have destroyed my life; I could have lost that knife vs multiple attackers fight, and got stabbed to death with my own knife. The reality for me is, that mma can't get taken from you and used against you. MMA allows you to have a realistic sense of confidence (you know people can kick your ass, you know how to take a punch), and allows a degree of control over a situation. I am opting for that. I don't frequently get into altercations where I would need a knife, and that strategy has worked fine for me over the decade which i stopped carrying a knife.

Perhaps your different. Perhaps you wouldn't pull the knife unless necessary, your not scared to take a beating. Perhaps you are in dangerous knife fights all the time, (but still post on fullchan), perhaps your a doctor too, and can take care of your own injuries without a hospital, or perhaps some kind of expert of evading police after stabbing someone on parking lot camera. Im not going to tell you what to do, i don't know your life (but I do have some suspicions).

But, myself, I won't carry a weapon. Its far to easy for me to end up paying a cost I don't want to pay.

 No.52351

I actually don't get into fist fights willfully. But, I have been attacked a few times owing to where I live; I wasn't carrying a boxcutter to open boxes, I was carrying an expensive knife to act as a weapon, and when I got attacked by a few strangers, I pulled the knife and faced my attackers. I escalated what probably would have been a robbery to what could have been life death fight - specially if one of them had been armed. I am not sure I could have held on to the knife facing multiple attackers, and my fear about it retrospectively is:

1) I could have stabbed someone on camera in a way that would be legally unjustifiable which might have legally consequences, and forever alter my life.

2.) I could have have lost the fight after stabbing 1 person, and been stabbed to death in relatation by my own knife.

3.) They could have been armed, perhaps with a gun, and i might have died simply pulling the knife.

The area was relatively well populated at I was able to defend myself at the entrace of a store to limit their numbers, and I had the knife. I think I would have been better simply entering a store and holding the entrance shut, while someone called cops. Engaging with attackers was a mistake, bought about by false confidence with the knife, and fear of being beaten.

Its far more likely those guys would have simply tried to rob me than kill me on camera in a parking lot. By I escalated in a dangerous way. And I understand fully why my youngerself did that. The thing I am cautioning people about is that generally, you don't need a lethal weapon, but there are extremely rare events where its time to go, and it really is kill or be killed. This almost never occurs. I have been attacked a number of times, but the closest it ever got to life and death was my doing. And so if you carry 100% of the time, you have to know you will make the right decision under stress. If someone threats to beat you up, are you going to kill them on camera, or get shot trying ? If you are carrying a knife out of fear of a fight, you are carrying a knife for the wrong reason, and it could ruin your life.

> I've heard you can just use water to prep the stone instead

This only works on some stones. I'm not sure what the properties of the stone itself have to be, but there are stones that use water and stones that use oil and you should ask whoever you're buying it from which is better.

t. have a "wet" whetstone that everyone said to just use water on that didn't work for shit, but then magically started owning bones when I threw a bit of cheapo baby oil on it instead of letting it soak in water.

>>54960

This but unironically but also without the gun.

If you're some hick or nigger who expects to get into gun fights all the time, you're either a delusional mallninja or are a nigger or hick yourself and either way you should stop that.

Multitools are pretty good though, but even then you'll probably use it a lot less than you predict. The pliers will probably be the thing you end up using the most, and the screwdrivers the least (they're usually too flimsy/wobbly even on locking models for stuff like furniture or bigger housings for things, and are way too large for electronics where being wobbly doesn't matter)

>>54956

>how about we see some non-weapon EDC? Watches, UMPC, anything schway?

It's not gonna happen because EDC stuff is for larping mallninjas and posturing niggers

as for me, it is just a loose debit card, the ID I need to get into work, and some cash/change. I also usually try to have a notepad and pencil. My house (or rather, the house I'm renting a room in) uses a keypad to enter so I don't carry keys or a keychain. I have a cheap digital watch that someone thought was mine at work but totally isn't but I didn't say no. It's apparently a Casio so I guess that's midly ~Schway~ but it's not the model that has a calculator built in so it's not meme enough for /cyber/k/.

I recently bought an SD-expandable MP3 player that I could put some meme linux variant on but I rarely encounter computers I'd want to access that way, either they're workstations that have to play nice with some Windows 2008 R2 server or are friend's computers that they are currently trying to game on. Even if I wanted to steal stuff from work's servers, a Lubuntu machine named CYBERHACKWARE420GOKUXX that doesn't use the right OS, let alone any other correct setting, is going to be a lot more visible than me just logging in normally and shoving whatever I want onto one of our many USB sticks specifically meant for that and just copying the USB via another station we have solely for doing that.

>>46891

People literally used to hijack planes with these things, carrying a boxcutter outside of somewhere with a ton of boxes in it is INCREDIBLY sketchy now. Especially since most people who work in places with shittons of boxes generally bring their own knives now that fancy folding knives are popular, schway, cheap, and prolific.

They're also not very good knives; the flexible blade is liable to glance off of anything even slightly hard, and they're perforated so it might even break. The straight blade without false point is unsuitable for stabbing, and being so flexible and brittle makes it unsuitable for slashing. In terms of work, they're too flimsy to pry stuff, and generally not thicc or robust enough to survive cutting heavier materials or at least do so cleanly. They're really best kept for their intended purpose – precisely cutting paper, tape, light cloth, and other thin and weak materials, preferably using a straightedge and the minimum of blade exposed as possible lest it start flexing and wandering.

You have to prove beyond a doubt that you will use it consistently for work: for a business or personal. Same thing extends to even carrying axes, baseball bats or knives in a car. You'd better be ready to apologise profusely should you ever need to sharpen them at another property (like I did).

On the bright side the government will let you carry these with a reason. Mace, tasers, body armour or any means of defending oneself is outright banned.

A bit worried about the software on the smartwatch because it's some chinese shit, but everything's being monitored by the Chinese or the Americans anyways.

I'm considering trying to machine my own folding pistol by salvaging a barrel and hammer assembly from an existing gun and machining the housing, but who knows when that shit will happen now that I've lost my job due to the fucking Coronavirus lockdowns.

Yojimbo 2 is the most finely designed "use" knife you can get. Check this one out, it's so /cyber/. I own 3 Yojimbo 2s and they are just so smooth, fast, and flippable.

Why not go for a multitool?

I use this small one and have it attached right to my keychain.

I can't doesn't mean I don't.

Just be smart.
