How can it be returned to legitimacy?
Is it even still possible to return it to any sort of respectable level?

It's a serious question. Miz held it for months without any real challenge to it, and you can't really name any worthwhile angles that involved the IC title over the past couple years at least. The US Title sees more action than the IC title does at this point.

I assumed you were a buttmad Roman hater. My B.
So, to answer the question, retire the belt. We don't need all of these secondary belts, and you're right to say this one in particular hasn't been great in a long time.

Honestly something I hadn't considered up to this point. I was thinking some sort of revamp, maybe a multi-man megafeud over it, or perhaps some really violent one v one feuds to give it a new spin, but retiring it might actually be a solid option.
No.86615

>retire belts
No. Make belt holders actually defend them. I mean fuck, the fucking games, at least one of them, makes you defend your belt every single night. That's going too far the other way, but something closer to that than pulling a Miz or a Lesnar where the same guy holds onto it forever and maybe has to do a PPV defense they win easily every once in a long while.
No.86621

Put in on Strowman and then have him on a feud with someone like Fatty Joe so it can produce a decent title defense match, and that would only be step 1 to recovery

They had one last year. Miz on SD with the IC title was great, he got moved to RAW and went back to being a loser.

Right. And the other anon is wrong. The IC title isn't a prop. Even if it was, it was meaningless when The Miz had it. I can't remember any important feuds involving the IC title when he held it. But people will remember the feuds Roman has, since there are people who hate him so bad, they would want to see someone beat him for the IC title. So whoever beats Roman for the title, is a win-win situation.
>>86674
That IC title created stars. It might even make a star out of Roman.

Oh yes, him.
Then of course there's Chyna and Eddie Guerrero.

Wrestling is entertainment stupid. The title means as much as any given nickname they hand out to the uncharismatic losers on the roster today. You put the title on somebody to tell a story, about that person or to proceed a weekly storyline leading up to a finale somewhere in the future.
What the WWE writers and wrestling business as a whole today don't seem to understand is that the shows are supposed to be entertaining. They are so wrapped up in their wrestling-bullshit that they have forgotten that they first of all need to entertain people. You can see it every week how they go "hurr durr, this will get heat on the bad guy" and "Oh the babyface needs a comeback if he's going to lose at the ppv! That will make people buy into this fued that was made by the numbers of how they say fueds should be made!" It's so obvious that the wrestling-business lacks entertainment, they can literally do anything they please and they still manage to put out the most basic, simple show there is.

Ziggler back last year since it created a great feud on smackdown. If you want to blame someone it's RAM for shitting on Miz tho both shows are shit now. Also, if you think Roman's IC title run will be memorable take a look back at his US title run.

Roman's U.S. was memorable. I remember Jericho pinning Reigns for the title. Fans cheered Jericho for winning. I bet the next wrestler that beats Reigns for the IC title, will easily become the most popular wrestler in the company.

Miz at least had title defenses and he always talked about the IC title. He's held it more often than not, in this year and the last. His reign on RAW sucked because he was constantly jobbed out on every non title match but won every title defense just to keep the title. Roman got the US title in September and had one title defense before he began to compete for the Universal championship and the US title became an afterthought.
No.86959

I was getting to that, man that feud with Ziggler gave so much hope for that shit title for a bit.
