It's like this because NXT is taped. The only way I can see them doing it better would be on a live episode but NXT doesn't have them. The next best thing I guess would be to do it at the finals of the Mae Young Tournament and then announce that the winner will become the NXT women's champion. Though I don't know what exactly is the prize of the tournament but the CWC had something similar when the cruiserweight title was announced on the finals day.
