So, after all these years, I finally have a Master System, it's been a bitch and a half to find but I managed to pick one up with a complete copy of Alex Kid in Miracle World.

Nice one. If you have reasonable expectations it'll be a good little system:
- Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
- Any of the Asterix platformers
- Wonderboy 3
- Sonic 1 definitely (2 probably as well)
- Castle of Illusion
- Land of Illusion
- Lucky Dime Caper
Phantasy Star would be extraordinarily expensive and it's battery would have died (probably multiple times if it was replaced).

The MSII was pretty slick, and you get Alex Kidd in Miracle World with it. I doubt you'd pick one up much cheaper than that, either.

You can get an Everdrive for the Master System. I haven't bothered to get one, as the Mega Everdrive for the Genesis plays most SMS games without issue, provided you're using a Master System pad instead of a Genesis controller, and have disconnected your 32X and Sega CD. A minor pain in the ass, but hey.
