Is this fucking possible?
Yeah I know that, notably, Firefox won't make sounds without it, but I don't give a fuck as I prefer silent web anyway. I need sound to work in mpv, Audacity, VirtualBox VMs, wine (because I use foobar2000) and Ardour. Everything else can go fuck itself silently.
I've read somewhere that if I disable pulseaudio, ALSA will be used, but I only get no sound that way.
Distro switching is not currently an option, I am a brainlet and my time is limited.
Did anyone ever successfully amputate Pulseaudio from Ubuntu 18.04? Or 16.04? (there's probably a chance that they are not too different, IIRC 16.04 was already full of pottering)
The reason is that Pulseaudio is shit, it very often shits itself and turns sound into constant crackle and it needs to be restarted to sound normally again.
