Fucking lol. At least they didn't oust him from spacex too.

>Musk will step down as Tesla’s Chairman and be replaced by an independent Chairman. Musk will be ineligible to be re-elected Chairman for three years;

>Tesla will appoint a total of two new independent directors to its board;

Tesla will establish a new committee of independent directors and put in place additional controls and procedures to oversee Musk’s communications;

>Musk and Tesla will each pay a separate $20 million penalty. The $40 million in penalties will be distributed to harmed investors under a court-approved process.

>Company takeover in progress.

That's not the first time.

>Eberhard and Tarpenning conceived and founded the company, also funding the company until the Series A round.[5] Musk led the Series A in February 2004, joining the board of directors as its chairman as well as in operational roles. Musk was then the controlling investor in Tesla, providing the large majority of the US$7.5 million round with personal funds. Co-founder Martin Eberhard was the original CEO of Tesla until he was asked to resign in August 2007 by the board of directors.[5][28] Eberhard then took the title of "President of Technology" before ultimately leaving the company in January 2008 along with co-founder Marc Tarpenning, who served as the CFO and subsequently the Vice President of Electrical Engineering of the company until 2008. [5][28] Eberhard later filed suit against the company allegedly that current CEO Elon Musk sought to "rewrite history".[2]

I like musk and all, but the dick sucking is a little much. He's not an engineer (despite the appearance he wants to give off) and he has some seriously retarded opinions on AI. His opinions on AI are spot on but everybody is a mouthbreathing retard that only read the headlines saying "Musk thinks AI is dangerous!" and didn't bother reading anything about what he actually said.

Musk thinks AI is dangerous because the only outfits actually dumping meaningful R&D into it are corporations like Google and Amazon and they have nothing else on their minds than exploiting the fuck out of you and your private information for monetary gain, and AI is just one more tool they'll use to do it.

Wrong. His plan was to use massive capital to undercut others so to drive that out of business so he can extract monopoly rent. Also his rockets, despite readily using publically funded research while himself keeping everything proprietary, exploded. Also nice ad hominem at the end, I had not expected less.

And this: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/dec/01/south-australia-turns-on-teslas-100mw-battery-history-in-the-making

>was happening anyway, the established industry giants have so much funds they will be the ones making and perpetually owning (thanks botnet) wisely used nucars as well.

No it wasn't fucking happening, I'm pretty sure that I couldn't buy a functional electrical car before Tesla showed up and car manufacturers are barely catching up with their own electric cars a full 7 years later than Tesla. The industry giants are suffering from decades of bailouts and subsidies to the point that they've become as slow and retarded as any government institution in the U.S.

>Wrong. His plan was to use massive capital to undercut others so to drive that out of business so he can extract monopoly rent. Also his rockets, despite readily using publically funded research while himself keeping everything proprietary, exploded. Also nice ad hominem at the end, I had not expected less.

Yes, that's called doing business: you make a better product for cheaper and then sell it. The only other competing aerospace companies like Lockheed Martin and Boeing weren't doing shit with all the subsidies they received, SpaceX has delivered and is now delivering payloads consistently at vastly lower prices than the other parasites have done or can do. The research they rely on is public domain, NASA wants you to use their knowledge, using it is no crime but a proper use of publicly funded research: it is literally meant for the betterment of mankind and rightly used by SpaceX. I can't understand how you see fault with that.

They shot a damn car into space, just for the heck of it. Can you think of anything cooler than that? As for the ad hominem: the question still stands: And what have you accomplished, other than some halfwitted, shill level critique of a man that will outshine you no matter how many lifetimes of your pathetic soul you throw in the ring.

ELON MUSK DID NOTHING WRONG

The only bad thing I've ever heard about Elon is that he loves Microsoft tech and thinks the NT kernel is the best ever.

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17836353

Sir_Cmpwn

>I used to work at SpaceX on the team that did a piece of software called "WarpDrive". It was a massive monolithic ASP.NET application, with large swaths done with ASP.NET WebForms and a slow frontier of ASP.NET MVC gradually growing when I was working there. This application was responsible for practically everything that ran the factory: inventory, supply chain management, cost analysis, etc. Elon is a big Windows fan and pushed hard to run the whole shop on Microsoft tech. Thankfully the rockets fly with a heavily customized Linux install.

bmiller2

>I used to work at SpaceX on avionics software, in a role very similar to OP, and my experience was similar in some respects.

>The tech and products were complex. The turnover rate was high and training new hires was a lengthy process. The new projects coming down the pipeline never ceased (this was during a period where FH/F9-1.1/Dragon/Crew was all under design/development and constant iteration).

>It was fun for a young engineer, but burnout is real.

Also, when Musk's X.com joined up with PayPal, PayPal was using Oracle database on sum sort of *nix and X.com was using Windows NT stuff with who knows what database.

>Elon nearly brought the newly merged X and Confinity to its knees during a critical period in its development by 1) insisting on the "X" brand when Paypal was more popular with users, and 2) insisting on Windows over Linux despite the protests of his tech team.

>Soon after he was ousted and Thiel was made CEO. Interesting to see he's still pushing Windows.

>Source: Paypal Wars by Eric Jackson

>The argument (at the time) was that Windows C++ tools were better than anything on GNU/Linux of the time. Also, in most non-CS fields (aka "real" engineering fields ahem) Windows, for better or worse, is still heavily entrenched. I have mixed feelings on this, as I am a Unix junky but it requires a lot of arcane knowledge to be effective, which many folk don’t have the wherewithal to acquire.
