[If you don't give a shit about my topic, treat this as a general electronics/robotics discussion thread I guess.]
So I am seeking employment in a tech related field and would like a tangible example of my knowledge and ability to complete a project on my own. I figure the best way to do this would be to make something that I can document and include with my resume. It doesn't need to be (nor should it be) too over the top and complicated. I just want something kinda cool or useful that sends the message that I know my shit.
I don't know if this is the right board to ask this sort of thing (if not, please direct me to the right board), but can I get any recommendations?
I have at my disposal:
>resistors and capacitors of basically any value I'll probably need (for low power applications)
>a handful of LDR's, reed switches, and SPST pushbutton switches.
>a 3D printer (currently loaded with cheap black PLA)
>cheap servo motors
>radio receivers/transmitters
>2 small solar panels each tested for ~9V @150mA when pointed directly at the sun on a clear day
>all the RGB LED's (common anode) I could ever ask for
>a bunch of miscellaneous shit that came with an arduino kit
>a few arduino nano boards
>basic tools (soldering iron, DMM, screwdriver set, cordless drill etc.) as well as limited access to a laughably outdated oscilloscope
>a small pool of funds from working a shitty minimum wage job (looking to keep this project in the <$100 range)
Obviously, not all of these things need to be incorporated into the project. But what's something cool that I can make and an employer might like?
