So what brands do you avoid/buy to avoid getting owned at the hardware level by government niggers and script kiddies? It seems that almost everything is compromised nowadays. Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up. Please share any advice relevant links. Here's what I know:

Intel and AMD

A big no, especially recent ones with "management" chips

-Says all device come with hardware kill switches for cam, mic, wifi and bluetooth.

-claims laptops have Management Engine disabled

are they reputable? does anyone suspect they are a honeypot?

There's POWER9 hardware if you've got the cash. I remember that rms was using a MIPS based laptop for awhile as it was the only thing he knew for certain ran free code. He's using an old thinkpad with libreboot now.

I got a couple at a computer swap meet. At the very least it isn't a western gov that developed them. Don't quote me but I heard they have a deal with the chinese gov to make their cpu's. They also won a lawsuit against intel making them one of the few companies to have rights to make x86 cpus. Sparc64 is an interesting option as well, 350w 4gb ram systems are not hard to get and can run solaris as well as some bsds. If you get one make sure it has graphical output.
