I did it. I finally set up a server that can be remotely accessed, through a fully functional website, by other people. And it works, for the most part. What a great feeling. I have tried many times in the past to do this but never was able to get all of the moving parts to work in unison. Have you had any accomplishments with tech recently you’d like to share? I’d like to hear some comfy stories.

I've been playing around with manipulating Windows 10's Azure endpoints, once you add your Certificate Authority you can easily change them via DNS rerouting or by a HTTP Proxy.

Pretty comfy imo, also gonna try to capture all that yummy telemetry data that Microsoft sends and see if I can do anything with it.

So, what did you setup OP?

OP is it something like webmin/ajenti/cpanel (remote admin console).

Or something more riced up for you or your customers needs?

Well I don't want to brag but I think I need it. (Like I've been putting off a lot of stuff)

I've failed the LPIC test twice already. The second time was an improvement from the first fail.

This time I decided to shell out some cash for study material. Pre-test got me at 83% (Wish me luck next week; I'm not the greatest test taker)

Also getting back into web development. (html, js, and php)

I've been working with CSS and micro JS frame works (in order to do my own things; eg RN using MinCSS to make extend my own themes which are meh.. but its tiny. I love that its like 2Kb when gzipped.)

I'll get there. I've successfully made MinCSS change a few colors here and there, which is great. (mincss have a good color scheme but I want my own color schemes)

this new grid stuff? really neat :)

Its more wordy than like using float or absolute but IDK it gets the job done.

Most frameworks are bloated wastes of time with no good migration path to another one. You will get more mileage if you set up a forum\wiki\etc package and ripping it apart. I'd also recommend perl or python over php, if you can do either you can fake your way through php anyway. Php developers are retarded, here are 3 recent reasons why to use literally anything else:

How do you have access to Azure? It is from a consumer standpoint or messing around at work?

I'm using a Dev Proxy to take traffic that would be going to the Bing API, and pretending to be Bing. This results in me being able to modify what Windows shows to the User

I've been working on reverse engineering the azure endpoints Windows communicates with for fun, problem is I might run into issues with SSL Pinning but so far thats not a problem

I built a simple processor, and it actually worked first time after synthesis, mind you, I had many test benches to assure myself of that.

I had never browsed gopher and rather than using an existing browser I thought it would be fun to write my own. My reward would be seeing the old, comfy world. It was depressing more than anything.

It’s something made for my needs using a Raspberry Pi. Just messing around with MediaWiki and getting some key parts of it work that I haven’t been able to in the past. Now I have a fully functioning website, and it feels good.

Are you working from behind an ISP's NAT? If so, how did you manage to get out from behind it? I'm sick of paying for VPSs.

I've been taking dystopian-style telemetry on myself using software that I've written and secured with minimal 3rd party influence. Things like location tracking, wake/seep times, and nutrition all get dumped into a csv for later charting and analysis. It's not 100% yet, but I'm already sussing out things that were influencing me that I wasn't aware of. It also gave me a chance to learn a new language.

I've been reverse engineering a popular online game and got the hardest parts of a private server done tonight. The client gets through authentication and session token generation (now fully implemented), gets handed some recorded messages I've not implemented yet, and loads into the first area.

Yes. I read the manual of the router and was (thankfully) able to get it to port forward port 80. Make sure you have it forwarded for the specific device on the network, with its particular IP, otherwise it won’t work. That sucks if your ISP fucks you over like that, however.

>>969577

That’s kinda cool, but also frightening from a privacy perspective. You’re basically making a treasure chest of biometric data for someone else to use if they gain access to it.

>>969580

Will you get City of Heroes back up? Pls :(

That was developed back in the day where MMOs were much more server-side than they are now. Without a live server up I'd expect it to be very difficult.

Yeah, I know. One can dream though.
