The kinds of jobs I'm talking about hardly require you to "dedicate your life". If you're somewhere that makes you work more than 40 hours a week then you're getting cucked.
And yeah, I don't like the shitty, bloated, unnecessarily-abstracted technology and frameworks either, but I do like getting paid, and as long as I'm not super lazy, I'll never lose the fundamental CS knowledge that enables me to work on my own projects.
It's just being pragmatic and willing to adapt to the absolute state of the modern economy.
